- Where are all the new PS5 games? We take a look at what to expect from each of the PlayStation studios and what PS5 exclusive games they may be working on. This year is looking pretty empty for 2024 PS5 game releases and while it may be wishful thinking to hope for a new God of War, The Last of Us, or Spider-Man game anytime soon, we look ahead to what developers such as Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, and Insomniac might be up to. From the highly anticipated Wolverine game to potentially a new Venom game.

Game development has changed so much, the scale of projects is bonkers. In the PS1/PS2 days, Naughty Dog made four successful games for each console. PS3 got 3 Uncharted games plus TLoU. On PS4, we got 2 proper games, plus Uncharted Lost Legacy and the TLoU remaster. On PS5 we've had... Two remasters, and hopefully will get one proper game?
Right. Games either need to get shorter or we slow down on the super AAA style for a bit in order to get more games. Otherwise it's just going to keep getting worse. That said naughty dog working on a multiplayer game for so long that didn't come out doesn't help.
They should remaster UC2-3 MP!

@@TheJohhnyEthe studios they said as their games released “this has been an absolute success in every way and exceeded all of our expectations” and then to still be shut down. Deathloop, Dishonored, and Prey, all commercially successful games, were made by Arkane. They’ve made one stinker they were forced to make by the studio that shut down them down.
So yeah, it’s not very clear why they were shut down when Microsoft is saying and doing the things they are doing. Redfall was the literally the only stinker in all their catalogs.
The PS5 is just a Remaster PS4

However, that doesn't mean PS5 is a remastered PS4 because if you compare both the hardware, they are miles apart. PS5 still hasn't been used to its full potential and so far we have only seen a glimpse of this console's potential through Spiderman 2

90% of the games this Gen could've easily been made for last Gen consoles. The other 10% could've been made for last Gen with tweaks

Where are they? They're taking half a decade to develop because the words Triple A and Ambitious have taken hold of gaming. Greed, and desire for bigger and better, the need for awards.
They have the ip power to do what Nintendo does and touch up old PS2 games as new releases to fill in a slow quarter. But everything has to look like a movie or it isn't a PS5 game
@@JsYTA Because that's what people clearly want. Smaller titles just don't seem to do the sales necessary to justify the costs invovled. If it's a big AAA studio, they need to make the big AAA games that people expect otherwise they don't sell. Just look at the recent Xbox studio closures. All it takes is one or two failed releases to sink a studio these days.

Bingo. Gamers are some of the most spoiled, entitled people on the planet. Just look at Elden Ring, one of the most content-rich games in history. People were complaining there were some recycled enemy skins in the game.

Exactly. Ps6 will come out in a few years and the ps5 will not many games made just for the ps5. Most of their big hitters have been cross gen.
And sequels that felt shorter than the first game that came out on PS4. GOW Ragnarok and Marvel’s Spiderman 2

Compared to previous generations, This one is, objectively, piss poor. It takes a staggering amount of stupidity to try and dispute that.
Don’t think their approach is bad though. People want games that have attention to detail and push the industry to another level, that takes more backing, talent and time. As hardware gets better it allows for more aspects to be worked on so that’s why you’re seeing longer developments. So you can be disappointed with the lack of games but it’s not for the wrong reasons it looks like.
@@jgooner894then their scheduling is terrible. Last gen games still took a long time to make, but they had them scheduled in a way where we got something new at least every 6 months. But on the other hand, all it takes is something like the covid lock downs to mess up that flow. So maybe that's what we're seeing now.

A remake from 10 years ago doesn't cost a lot of money because the technology is not too far apart. Remaking a game from 20 years ago would be expensive. You would need to change boxy and pixilated looking characters to today's realism standards. Game companies are not going to spend the money unless they make it a reboot or a brand new game.
This is exactly why the ps5 pro will be a fail. Why buy the pro when there are no games? Not to mention the ps5 is already halfway through it's life cycle.

back then Sony still made mid and low budget games like Gravity Rush, Concrete Genie, Helldivers 1,... (Helldivers 2 is still a mid budget game, so it has 40 usd price tag)
but now every Sony game is AAA cinematic games with hundreds of millions of dollars budget, it takes 4-5 years to make and can literally make or break an entire studio
they also closed studios like Japan Studio, so no more mid and low budget games

Days Gone 2 needs a chance!!!! You Critics Tore it to the Ground and It was one of the best games which got swept under the rug.

An Uncharted game that does a flashback story retelling of Nathan's daughter trying to retrace her father's footsteps on an adventure he told her as a kid would be a pretty cool way to kick off a new series of Uncharted games led by Nathan's daughter would be pretty cool IMO.

Its really sad FF7 Rebirth isnt selling as well as it should. The amount of work and heart poured out into that game from the Devs should be rewarded for. If you havent played rebirth you should definitely give it a try! Theres a demo aswell to see if its to your liking.

Been waiting decades for another jack and dexter game
Playstation should have make this games:
1. Ape escape (trilogy remaster/new sequel)
2. Bloodborne (update 60fps/pc port)
3. Gravity rush (sequel/reboot)

The “next gen” consoles are just console with barely any games worth buying. What’s the point of buying a new console at the start if it won’t have games? Remasters can be fun, but they are new stuff to experience and enjoy.
A lot of older games run better on the new consoles which is a big deal. Maybe if you haven’t bought many games it’s not been worth to buy one yet but for the people who have, they’re seen as worthy investments where a lot of games will release over it’s time.
Can you imagine how many people will simply avoid buying the ps6 because of this?
completely agree. next gen consoles have been a bust. you can play most current PS5/XBOX games on a PC with a decent GPU and run the game on ultra with ray tracing etc at a fraction of the cost due to third party key resellers and steam sales etc. If people were honest the only reason for a "next gen" console is going to be the lack of availability when GTA6 releases

Sadly the games industry is going through big troubled times right now with so many layoffs and closures, this only means fewer games will be released and also game dev will slow down quite a bit especially for the big budget games! Perhaps now is the time for more indie studios and games to shine?

At least there are games announced. We haven't even gotten that from Sony in a long time. Every showcase was a little bit more of a game announced 4 years ago. Hopefully that changes soon, for both of them. It should be about that time in this gen to start seeing what started development at the begining of this gen

If you’ve kept track of games the past few years. It was known 2024 would be a slower year for releases. Always considered this year to be the perfect year for clearing the backlog and focusing on multiplayer games.

Because the budget for video games have bloated so much that one commercial failure can put your company out of business. Plus. every dev. wants their game to have mass appeal which makes no fun for everyone!

NetEase own Quantic Dream. Sony never owned them but had a long relationship until around 2018 when Quantic wanted a partnership or acquisition.
