    (video will be released at 11 am MST on October 5)
    RJ at DnD builds reached out to us with a challenge build and collaboration. The challenge, to build the evilest healer. So today here is our Evil Healer.
    This build is a Mountain Dwarf Divine Soul Sorcerer Utilizing spells that allow us to deal damage and heal ourselves simultaneously setting us up for big burst heals with Life Transference. This build's signature spells are wither and bloom, vampiric touch, life transference, and enervation, each allowing us to steal hp from our enemies and give it to our allies.

      In 3.5, going warlock+cleric. Turn eldritch blast into chain blast and take the prestige so it heals.
      There was a bonus action fest you could take to heal all creatures within 30ft by like 1d8+wisdom mod.

      @@anarchyantics2271 the usual answer is first level, for armor. But with Clerics, you get your heavy armor as a subclass feature. So it doesn't really matter, as long as you have the features in place by the time you need them.
      If I was going to play it from level 1, I'd take my first 5 levels in wizard to get my third level spells ASAP. Then I'd grab my single level of Cleric and back to wizard.

  • @dhavaram8064
    @dhavaram8064 2 месяца назад

    I think adding one level of Death Cleric and going with the Dhampir race is how I would build this. Death Cleric gives you an extra necromancy cantrip (Spare the Dying is my pick because low Wis doesn't matter), lets you target 2 creatures with necromancy cantrips for free as long as the targets are within 5' of each other, gives you proficiency in the medium armor we want, and martial weapons (so could use a rapier with dex when not life transferring or biting with the dhampir's natural weapon). Also, it means you can get thaumaturgy with one of the cleric cantrips you gain at 1st lvl cleric. I'd take thaumaturgy, guidance, and mending with those 3 picks.
    Dhampir gives you 35 move speed as opposed to 25 move for the dwarf, and they get free spider climb. They also get a bite that is a con based attack which can also heal them.
    I am planning on trying to play this in my next campaign (with DM permission/buy-in) but make it a secret that eventually gets revealed to my allies that I'm actually a Dhampir instead of a Half-Elf and that I have been using evil/black magic to heal my party members.
    My group is cool and likes secrets/reveals/not necessarilygood characters/etc, so I think they would be fine with this.

    This is definitely a better build for the theme. DnDbuilds has a pretty benevolent healer up until the backstab and depends a lot on favorable DM involvement and a late stage backstab.
    This is more sadomasochistic and the spells have a lot more thematic value.

  • @BigGaymerEnergy

    I think your build won this one. Where his build focuses primarily on being a traditional healer with a scheme to do something evil in the future, your build is inherently evil from start to finish. Most healers aren't going to steal life from others to heal their allies, there would be a class devoted to such. Well done! >:)

  • @CivilWarMan
    @CivilWarMan 9 месяцев назад +1

    My idea drops the Life Transference strategy, but my evil healer would be a Dhampir Grave Cleric 18/Spores Druid 2. Grave Domain has the reputation of being the "Good" Death Cleric, but they do still get spells like Bane, False Life, Vampiric Touch, Blight, and Anti-Life Shell, and their Channel Divinity can give an enemy vulnerability to damage on an attack. Plus, Grave's capstone ability (Keeper of Souls) allows them to siphon life from dying enemies and use that energy to heal allies. And they can do that once per round with no action cost and no limit to the number of uses per rest.
    Death Domain Cleric also fits this idea, but Grave is the mechanically stronger option, has a better healing kit, plus Death Domain is in the DMG while Grave is from Xanathar's, so more DMs would probably allow Grave.
    For the build, focus is heavily on Wisdom and Constitution, with at least 14 Dex for Medium Armor, which would be something made out of bone for flavor and if the DM is a big stickler for the Druid armor rule.
    The primary reason for the levels in Druid is for Shillelagh, to attack with Wisdom, and because Spores Druids is the easiest way to get Chill Touch cast with Wisdom. There is also the cool flavor that this character could activate their Symbiotic Entity to add Necrotic damage to their Dhampir bite. If doesn't cause the bite to heal for more, but a vampiric bite infected with necrotic spores does fit the evil healer theme.
    The reason I didn't go more than 2 levels in Druid in order to make the Symbiotic Entity more usable at higher levels is because there is a lot of overlap between the Spores Circle spells and both the Grave and Death Domain spells, the Grave Domain capstone fits the concept too well, and Halo of Spores allows this character to still use the spores to deal necrotic damage as a reaction.

If I could change anything about him, I would change his race to reborn and give him the Remarkable Recovery feat. Keep him in the fight and continue keeping his allies in the fight as well. I think an interesting potential interaction is using _Life Transference_ on yourself, since the amount of hitpoints gained is double that which you lost. If you use it on yourself combined with _Death Ward_ while you're very close to 0 hp, you can heal yourself for even more.

    • @MalloonTarka
      @MalloonTarka 9 месяцев назад

      @@LeakysTV I considered that part of the spell flavour text, given the more robust "one creature of your choice that you can see within range" in the following sentence specifying who you can target - lacking the "other than yourself" similar spells get. I wouldn't go as far as to say that your interpretation is wrong, though.
      I _would_ say that your interpretation of how much you heal is wrong, though. The spell specifies that it heal hit points equal to twice the amount of necrotic damage you take. Damage taken in the rules is *always* unrelated to how many hit points you have (left). So if you deal 10 necrotic damage to yourself while you only have one hit point left, you still heal 20 hit points.

    If you're going to be relying largely on vampiric touch, [original] fallen aasimar + death domain cleric (x) can really hit like a truck [VT's damage roll + character level + 2x cleric level +5] -and subsequently heal like half a truck, and you have 1-3 uses of this channel divinity per short rest. Would definitely recommend getting heavy armor proficiency though, maybe fighter 1 for defense fighting style. Alternatively, with extended spell metamagic and life cleric (1+) you could extend aura of vitality to 2 minutes and restore 2d6+5 12 times using the 1 spell slot outside of combat to bring yours and others hp back up. Disciple of life also causes Regenerate to heal 10 per activation, so that would be a good candidate for twinning or extending

    So, how about an idea of aura juggernaut like in one of your videous, but instead of helping auras he has harmthul one. Something like druids halo of spores or cloacks of flies incantation from warlock

    Evil? Never actually heal, just buff with temp hit points.
    Instead of healing a pc with the “rope a dope” healing, turn your squishy wizard into an ape with polymorph. (Before they get too low, so you still F with their spellcasting) Or a creature not so great at combat for your tank.
    Why not? You all have hit dice you can spend, until they’re all used up of course.
    A fitting build for a party of real life jerks that always mess with each other.

    So... If you were to take 1 level of Death Cleric, and then twin spell... Would you technically be able hit 4 creatures at once with Toll the Dead or Chill Touch? As long as they meet the range requirements, that is?
