    I've had this lens since 2016 and it's been a workhorse much like you said. I bought it first when I still had my GH4, now I've been using it on my FX-30 with the MC-11 adapter and even used it on the Komodo we rented this last week. a borderline perfect lens for APS-C/S35 sensor cameras, don't know what I'd do without it

    Which lens would you recommend for podcast interviews with the Pocket 4K?

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  10 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the size of the space and if you want to use a speedbooster. The 50-100 sigma is solid for that if there’s enough space. If you have to go micro four thirds I like the 12-35

      Yes I would absolutely still recommend this lens, there is still nothing that’s been released that covers the functionality and versatility of this lens. The only thing I can see happening at some point since it’s been 10 years now, is a lighter version of the lens coming out for mirrorless cameras

    Hey there. So you;re saying that using the Metabones Cine Speedbooster on RED Komodo will allow me to shoot in the 2.4:1 ratio from 18mm....so it becomes like a full frame lenns? It sound to beatiful to be true, that is why i am asking.

    • @ReachFilms
      @ReachFilms  Год назад

      Can you do it? Yeah absolutely, however here comes the too good to be true part. The lens wasn’t meant to be used at that field of view, so at the edges there will be distortion and other issues because they were never meant to be in frame.

    • @ReachFilms

      If you mean 17:9 yes but for most situations hasn’t been noticeable at all. I’ve used it a lot at 18 on Komodo in recent videos on the channel for my talking heads. Is it there, yes, but not really visible in tons of situations

      I do not personally have the Crane 3s, but I do have the crane 2s and I have been able to balance a lot of setups with it. The crane 3s is supposed to be even better and handle more weight. I would look into some balancing videos and see what others may be doing that you may be overlooking. I have seen a lot of people putting full sigma 18-35 and follow focus setups with a cage and pocket 4k/6k on crane 3s no problem

    Ugh... I recognize this is a good lens, but man I hate this lens. I'm much rather just use a 24 or 28 mm prime. The only reason I would use this lens would be a snap zoom.
    But that's what I love about filmmaking, there are so many unique styles to achieve the same thing. Don't get me wrong, this is no doubt a good lens, but it is not my style, especially for wide angle shots.
