Welcome to the Letterman RUclips Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. And for those of you who like Miscellaneous, you may very well find some Miscellaneous here.
Loved the commercial with Bobby Knight and Digger Phelps where Phelps goes into a rage and throws a chair. Bobby calmly says, “that’s not how you throw a chair”.
❤😂❤😂
Purdue grad and fan here. RIP Bobby. Thanks for the memories.
This channel is usually how I know when someone has passed. RIP Bobby Knight.
And they wonder why we go right to the RIP comment.

Right? The speediness of this channel is jaw dropping
"if Schaefer is falling asleep, you should fire him!" pure gold
A big part of Indiana left with that man. Thank you, Bobby Knight for giving us Hoosiers some great moments!
Once I met BK at the airport he couldn't have been more gracious.
The one & only BURGER KING? LOL
My older brother attended his basketball camp in 1987, right after they won the national title. Coach Knight signed an autograph for my brother to give to me, which I still have. My brother played college basketball at Eastern Kentucky University.
First time I ever heard this and Knight is riot.
I used to manage a restaurant in Lubbock, Texas when Coach Knight was there. He was so polite and loved talking to the college students.
Thank you all for this! I really enjoyed!
RIP Bobby So many memories of watching IU with my now departed grandmother back in the 80s.
Thank you.
RIP Bob Knight.
RIP Bobby Knight.
Coach Knight was one of a kind RIP Coach
Bobbie stressed education. His kids graduated. What I remember the most.
RIP Coach Knight
Coach Knight was pretty funny. Rest In Peace Coach!
Probably the best coach ever preparing for an opponent and making in game adjustments..and his players actually went to class and graduated 🎓
he was a bully
Drove through Indiana many times on the way to see my girlfriend in
Chicago. It's so flat, so barren of any kind of geographic variation,
reminded me of a basketball court. So many great basketball players
came from there.
Obviously, you have never been to Bloomington or southern Indiana. 😉
Letterman will outlive us all on RUclips 🤣
I’m in my late 40’s and the first thing I want to say is RIP.
Next, man, things have changed SOOOO MUCH!
Imagine a coach (in any sport) behaving like this in 2023, just imagine it!
he would have gotten cancelled
He's a good soul and man, he had a sense of humor. Real. Raw. Love him. God bless him in heaven 🙏
my mother just passed and was a huge college basketball fan. she lived longer than him remarkably but i will miss them both.
Letterman, was always the proud Hoosier
I S.....
Coach Knight was THE best.
how polite and thoughtful 🤭
I grew up in Indiana, and I can assure you, Letterman and Bobby are TABERNACLE there...Thought he was a miserable old man when I was a kid, but now that I'm a miserable old man I appreciate the Coach. Sad loss :( (This is the edit: unless the camera is tricking me, or someone is standing on a platform, Bobby looks HUGE next to Dave. Far as I know Dave himself is a pretty tall guy but damn, Bobby seems to be nearly a head taller...anyone else?)
I've met coach knight in person. He was huge. Not only was he tall but he was broad shouldered as well. He was like an intimidating wall.
He was taller than a majority of his players.
I guess he just didn't look that big on tv all those years at the games my family watched...I never noticed til I saw this interview all these years later...No wonder he could throw a chair about 700 mph ;)@@Indianajame1
The Letterman Obituary Files are at it again.
@ObamaFromKenya Every clip of Don Rickles roasting Dave. Oh, or every clip where Dave fake dies on the show 🤣
That red sweater needs to be in the hall of fame
Best he is ❤
I hope none of you were wearing a hat while watching this interview...because you were just in the presence of a legend amongst legends in the sport of basketball. R.I.P. Bobby Knight
The General is watching you, Paul.
Wow, Letterman's guys are FAST!
I love how in the original clip the announcers discussed whether or not he would be ejected, and that when he ultimately was, it wasn’t for throwing the chair. Never let anyone tell you basketball today is better than the 80s.
This guy was a true scholar of the game. RIP Coach Knight
❤😂commercial in late 80s...think Applebees????..."thats not how you throw a chair"...
Lol
They should've had Coach toss a chair as he entered the stage. Just imagine, instead of seeing Coach Knight walk out like anu other guest, the first thing you see is a folding chair flying across the hardwood. Truly a missed opportunity to score big ratings.
Go Hoosiers!! 🏀💯
10:27 “You’re a native Hoosier.”
Wow, Al Frisch, that guy was hilarious.
Happy Hloenmas ! 🧡
Certainly his tombstone will be a folding chair, right? 😉
Rest easy General

Indiana basketball has never been the same since he left.
Good for the STATE of INDIANA...LOL 😊
@@mikewhite4560I guess if it’s good to be soft losers..
It wasn't really that good his last decade or so there, either. They were the Romo-Prescott-era Cowboys of college basketball.
Hilarious 😆
I’m a psychotic pos, said Knight explaining his behavior.
RIP Coach.
If anyone were to make a biopic on Bobby Knight, I wonder who they could get to play him?
Coach Knight was the Greatest of All Time
re: the chair, I think he was just sick and tired of losing to Purdue.
A textbook bully who was revered for some reason.
You're trying to bully people into thinking he was a bully.
Everyone has been a bully before
Weak argument.@@davidsandall
Yep. Some people admire Trump and Musk, also.@ObamaFromKenya
@@MovieVigilante
It's true. What's weak is people who think everybody is a bully. Iron sharpens iron. Bullies build character. Everybody has been a bully and has been bullied.
For all those who are still criticizing The General he was buried upside down just for you.. 😂😂
Thanks, I guess. 🫤
😂😂😂
I went to basketball workshop to hear Bobby speak in 1974. When he saw that there were women in the audience he told an extremely off color joke. One woman left. He told increasingly offensive jokes without any mention of basketball until all the women had left the room. He commented that since the audience was now ready, he could start his talk. The Washington Post covered his talk and never mentioned his disgusting behavior. He was a bully who got away with awful behavior because he won a lot of games. Men who played for him who were willing to tell the truth said they played with terror.
a55hole in life. a55hole in death. go BLUE!
So... what were the jokes?

Bobby could be a Class A J E R K however he was a Good Interview 😊

Yet still living rent free in your head
Not worthy of our respects.
Nah. He turned a lot of boys into successful and respectable men. He did a lot wrong but also did a lot of good and was very charitable. The man has passed so you can let go of whatever feelings your harboring about him after all these years. I wouldn’t talk about respect if I was the kind of person to purposely view a video of someone I disliked just to make a negative comment after they died. But you do you

Knight's violent temper came out mostly in practice. He was abusive as hell. He had a real problem.
