Just shared this with every Knight hater I’ve ever known. The guy was special. Was he tough? yes. Pat Knight went from probably hating his own father freshman year to becoming an upstanding student, athlete, and leader. For Knight to say that, you could just tell that was his true goal, to turn his boy into a respected man. It wasn’t to win basketball games , it was to be a father. I hope to get that choked up when I know my own son is gonna be just fine without me and eventually a better father than I ever could be to his own son. Incredible tribute. RIP to a legend.
That's correct. It was only a few games after Kohl's Center opened. Quite remarkable. Wisconsin went well over 20 years without a win in Bloomington until Bo Ryan became coach in 2002. Now Indiana has a similar streak in Madison.
One of my earliest memories was being proud of my Indiana Hoosiers Basketball Team growing up in Elizabethtown, Indiana in my younger years.Shooting free throws at the hoop connected to the side of our red barn from a line in the grass & gravel I would have to scratch in every few days, I used to dream of playing for Coach Bobby Knight. Coach Knight gave us young boys something to be proud of being from Indiana outside of our corn production. RIP General...you influenced more than you will ever know.
you might want to check with Neil Reed before you sign on the dotted line....oh wait - too late, he left a wife and two daughters when his heart quit at 36,
@@glenngardner2734are you blaming the guys heart attack on bob knight too? Good lord what a stretch. Many dozens of other players signed on the dotted line and had no regrets, came out better men for it.
Every year during the NCAA tournament while Bobby Knight was the coach at Indiana I had them going to the final four on my bracket. His teams were always good.
Wonderful interview! Pat, I wish things had worked out for you at Texas Tech. I remember well the start of the season you took over and your Mom being in Lubbock for the start of the season, and twisting her ankle. It was a pleasure to get to know her on the Fuller Bus that night while you were making the stops you needed to make. I had hoped you would have a long run here. It was always fun when Coach and Gerald Myers would make their way out for a Thursday lunch at Hillcrest and tell their war stories. Coach had such a great sense of humor, and it was a pleasure to get to know him. My condolences to you and your family on the passing of Coach. I wish you the very best. -DavidSanderson
Pat was and is one of my favorite players at IU. I was a huge fan while Coach Knight was there and when they fired him I realized Coach Knight was more my Coach then IU was my school. So I quit watching them and going to games until in 2010 when my 7 year old son started watching basketball and living in Indiana there was no other school he wanted to root for . So I went back for him and although I loved Tom Crean and now Woody it isn’t the same as when Coach Knight was there. The electricity and energy that I felt when I would walk into Assembly Hall was gone . Coach Knight was a special special person and he was bigger then life and I’m so glad I got to experience it . I’m so glad he came home ❤because make no mistake about it Assembly Hall was his house , he built it and made it into what it is today and without Coach Knight Indiana University would be just another school in Indiana . Like Purdue 😂😂 Thank for all the memories Coach and Pat thanks for sharing your dad with us ❤❤
Appreciate this story, Pat was in my math class and played some hoops with him @ New Hampton School. I’m a son a business owner that worked for my dad and took over the business. Plus a huge hoop fan and coach my kids so this all kinda hits home.
You're wrong Patrick. You were his favorite player. He wouldn't have said it otherwise. What you're not realizing is that before you, your dad was that bench player at OSU. He knows exactly what he is talking about.
I'm old school , im so disgusted with all these frauds on social media that claim to win you money if you pay for their picks! I've been gambling for over 30 years and win at 60 % I bet max 4 games a week and that includes NFL ! Why anybody would pay someone they don't know for their picks ! These so called experts have no risk !
I'm old school , been betting sports for over 35 yrs. I'm disgusted watching all these frauds on these sites milking the degenerate gambler. I give out picks for free! Don't want a dime from anybody!
One of my all-time favorite sports moments was when Coach Knight said "Patrick Knight is my all-time favorite Indiana player."
I know Pat's got a temper just like his Dad, but he comes off as super nice and down to earth here. Awesome interview, good work!!!

Good interview. Knight was the last IU coach to win at UW Madison, over 20 years ago.
That's correct. It was only a few games after Kohl's Center opened.

Nice job! Great stories! I had the chance to meet Pat Knight, I have always liked him!
Just shows that Coach Knight was a human like the rest of us. Pat Knight reminds me so much of one of my cousins too.
The world could use a whole lot more Coach Knights!!! RIP Coach 😢💔🙏 from Versailles KY (yes, Kentucky ☺️) love and miss you
good stuff, Talia!
Good stuff . Good to hear from Pat . Coach Knight and his Hoosiers were must see TV . Where does the time go ! Coach Knight was the best ever .
The world would be a better place if everyone played for a Bobby Knight.

Great interview! Terrific!
Great job Talia !! One of the best pieces on Coach Knight I’ve watched since Costas Deford Rather etc… keep this content coming 🙌
Great interview, beats the mainstream talking heads💯
Damn I cried...well played
The best was when coach Knight was interviewed and they ask him about the chair and he said he was giving it to and old Lady 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wonderful interview!

He will always be #OurCoach #OurIndiana
Absolutely phenomenal interview!
Hoping Pat & his family are doing well. Life without his father being here just isn't as rewarding. Best wishes always.
RIP coach.
