saying there's no strategy to Rugby is like saying there's no creativity to Picasso because he didn't paint by numbers
American Football is paint by numbers - the players simply follow plays to the rule. In American Football, the players are chess pieces which are moved by their coaches. In rugby, the players are chess pieces that move themselves.

Just so you know, you cannot tackle someone without the ball, which is why you sometimes see people kick the ball forwards for themselves to run on to. Also, you are not allowed to prevent a player from being tackled (blocking) as that is classified as an obstruction and will result in a penalty.

The New Zealand player (who ran over the top of the other player) is a man called Jonah Lomu. Jonah was one of the greatest rugby players of all time, who unfortunately suffered from kidney issues all his life and sadly passed away in 2015 at the age of 40. I feel like most NFL fans would like rugby. I am just a casual viewer and don’t know all the rules but the important parts to remember are that you can run in any direction while holding the ball, you can kick it forward but can’t throw it forward, your players must remain behind the ball while involved in play, you can only tackle the player with the ball, no blocking is allowed like in NFL.

The context around some of these tries is why they’re considered the greatest. Look at the score board at 2:37. The reason that try made this list is because it’s the first time Japan have ever beaten South Africa, and it was during a World Cup in Japan. It was an incredible moment in rugby history.

This is rugby union, which is a more gentlemanly sport.

Rugby 80 minutes long divided into 40 minute halves. Gridiron the numbers on how much live action takes place during an NFL game (3hrs) varies, but it is generally between 15 and 20 minutes, with 18 viewed as the average. On average, rugby union players cover around 6 miles per game. On average, Gridiron players only run around 1 mile per game and they only actually played for an average of 11 minutes whilst rugby players play for a full 80 minutes. When a rugby player is tackled, the ball must be released, making it live and available for both teams to play. Whenever a player is tackled in Gridiron, the play is over, and time is given to call/run another play.

The tactics, game plan, in simple terms is, your big guys are usually strong but slower, forwards. They can use their weight and strength to push the ball over the score line. The backs are usually smaller but faster, mobile so they use their speed and maneuverability to run in trys.
The trick is to attempt a miss match so you have a fast guy, back, running around a slower forward or forwards taking down the fast players and freeing their own backs.

boys 99% in rugby moves and tactics are trained and repeated every training session just like your AFL moves. What might sometimes look like passes left right all over the place is actually what they train. choreographed if you like. At professional level all runs and moves or combinations of kicks and passes are trained to the level that you just know where your mate suppose to be which ever way you go. You can see that with a lot of passes that reach no one - because your team mate is just not in his position - when you watch grass roots rugby or the lower provincial leagues. The chaos is mostly down to situations like intercepts where both teams suddenly change direction and the forwards and backs are all mixed up or someone misses a pass and the whole herd turns again. when you start watching grass roots and work your way up through the different leagues to the top pros then you see how the choreography slowly becomes something like a well oil Swiss clockwork.
But for American football fans it just looks like chaos all together. It's pretty much what your sport would look like without stopping for every tackle to have some commercials running over the home screens and having Taylor jumping up and down in the corporate box on national TV. If your are just after knocking your opponent of his feet -neck breaker or not - then you need helmets and pads to just do that. pretty sad actually, now that I'm thinking about.

I highly recommend a brilliant film aka movie lol, called 'The Grand Slam'...about a group of Welsh fellas who travel to Paris in 1978 to watch Wales v France for the 5 nations championship......and the adventures they have...its hilarious. its one of the best films to come out of Wales....during a time when Wales had the greatest team on earth...the golden age of Welsh rugby!
Its on youtube...its a masterpiece. Only about an hour long

to get the full context yo need to watch the whole match. Look at some of the quarters, semis or the final from the last world cup

The world Cup was disappointing again from the northern hemisphere.
A low rated England team was the best we could muster up.
The only team to make the semi finals.

The composition of the pools was a disaster! How could they put the 4 strongest teams into the two pools that would play each other in the quarterfinals? Either France or Ireland would have easily made it to the final if they had not had to face NZ and SA in the quarterfinals, while MUCH weaker teams went on through to the semis.

At the time the draw was created those werent the 4 strongest teams. also its done by random draw. are you suggesting its fairer for stronger teams to get easy paths to the finals?@@michaelmedlinger6399

@@michaelmedlinger6399Couldn’t agree more with you. The Pools was awful. The 4 strongest 🇿🇦🇳🇿🇮🇪🇲🇫 was put Group A and B. My French team could have made to the Final. Even the Irish.
I’m not surprised if Argentina made to the Semi final. They were in the luvky Pools C and D

Either way, to win it you have beat the best to win it.
In the End, rugby's two best nations reached the final, so I suppose they got it right in that way.

Nah i felt as an 4 time world champion country that was kinda harsh saying its inprove and that its easy to score alot players work y3ars to beat one country like SOUTH AFRICA just saying its easy to score is like say its to play two football games back too back without any stops or breaks😢😅

I'd love to know what the criteria is for being one of the greatest rugby tries. I've seen hundreds that I'd consider equally as good as these. The try that includes Simon Zebo's heel flick is tops for me but never makes these compilations.

Tackling can only be done from waist down, if u tackle high, you could be punished and get a yellow/red card.
Tackling somebody's neck is a big no no, automatic red card.
