In the early 2000's, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation began the project to relocate Interstate 195 thorugh the city. A project so big, it had a name: "Welcome to the Iway, the future of highway travel in Providence." Providence looks so different now. I remember the awful traffic congestion on the old wickenden street exit and the overpass right after the shell station before the point street bridge. Was nothing compared to the awful traffic every day at the 95 split right around rush hour. I haven’t thought about what the city used to look like in a long time. I wonder what it will look like when they are done fixing this mess with the Washington bridge
