I'm a huge Frankel fan. My favourite of all time. Though I have to be honest now I'm happy that he's retired. I'm utterly relieved he never faced Black Caviar over six furlongs. I never ever wanted Frankel to lose and it was just not his best distance anyway so all the talk of them facing was unfair on the pair of them since Black Caviar was a sprinter and Frankel the mile+. Why can't people just celebrate them both as horses of a lifetime ?
I am Australian and i will tell you Frankel was a four length better horse than Black Caviar. Black Caviar was the most overrated mollycoddled horse ever to come out of Australia. A pussy. Comparing Black Caviar to Frankel or Vain the best sprinter miler Australia has seen is an insult to those horses.
@@anneshaw9681 youre australian as much as England has hot weather, she would have brained him up to 1400 and id say she would do better at 1600 than he would at 1200.All the stats prove he had slower sectionals,no track records,no major wins like 3yo derbies or cups, refused invitations to travel overseas and race in inferior fields against 4 horse fields with one being his stable mate as the pacemaker wtf and never tested overseas, all things black caviar did he didnt and the only one in cotton wool was frankel

Frankel is a once in a lifetime horse, I have never seen a horse win a classic (2011 Guineas) in the fashion he did, He makes 128+/130+ horses look like statues look how he devastated Canford Cliffs, The talk of his injury...
the horse won it's 22nd race in a row. 22 is higher than 11. According to Wikipedia - Timeform Publications is a publishing company in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England founded in 1948 to provide information to fans, bettors, and others involved in the horse racing industry.
It mystfying how worldclass vets at Ascot found her ok after the race, Just a little tired yet Peter Moody and his team found her to be completely shot to bits. Yes I can take into account the morning after theory etc. Anyway the gallant mare got the job done, But Frankel is without a doubt the best racehorse in the world and the best racehorse I've seen in 25 years of watching this great sport...
Sir Henry Cecil was extremely skilled in training Frankel; there is no point at all in racing a horse over a distance that doesnt suit them, just to please the public/media. Frankel proved himself against the best horses racing at that point in time. His ranking was based on the times he achieved, distances he won by etc. As for Excelebration, he probably didnt race well on dirt, and also the form doesnt look that great after Animal Kingdom was thrashed at Royal Ascot
Actually I did, and he was my favourite horse when I was young. It may well be that he was as good as Frankel, he had the speed, and more endurance than Frankel had. Nijinksky, though raced before the current ranking system was established, so its difficult to assess how good he really was. Its all very subjective; Nijinksky was our last triple crown winner, and had he won the 'Arc', would have finished his career unbeaten. Probably his brilliance has diminished with the passing of time.
Nijinsky was the best horse I've seen, he won the guineas on the bridle, the Derby on the bridle, and the St Leger on the bridle, this completing the triple crown, and was only beaten in the arc because he was sick horse, but Frankel was a great horse no doubt.
In the Queen Anne Frankel hit 42mph from the 2 pole to the 1 pole, That sectional was faster than any sectional ran in the King Stands Stakes. Even Black Caviar failedd to hit anything near 42mph in the Diamond Jubilee...
Marcus Armytage, Telegraph “The fact is, a Horse’s ability is limited by whereabouts in the speed-stamina spectrum. Horses have either one or the other. Middle distance horses a bit of both until Frankel, who has lots of both. What makes him unique is his ability to go at G1 5f sprinter’s pace over distance. In Frankel, the racehorse breeders’ Holy Grail has been found , He is a lightning strike of genetics which has never been see before and may not be repeated for 100 years” Is this OK ;-)
In the book that came out about Black Caviar after her retirement came a direct quote that came from Black Caviar's trainer, Peter Moody, that read as follows: "I've been around horses all my life and I've never known one better than Black Caviar. I find judging her place in history hard because I'm so close to her. That's why I've always deferred to other people's opinions. But what I do know is this, Black Caviar is the finest horse I had ever seen or worked with.........until I saw Frankel win the Queen Anne Stakes on that Tuesday at Royal-Ascot.".........End quote.
Frankel is a miler - he won at longer distances than Black Caviar specialized in. She is a sprinter, winning races measured in furlongs. She might have beaten him in a sprint, but as the distance lengthened, he might have passed her. I have no idea how trainers decide which type of horse they have - sprinters, milers, horses that can compete in the Derby or the Arc - but it seems that they figure that out as they get to know their horses and decide which length race suits each particular horse.
@sue joarder the breeders cup mile is a turf race, excelebration flew 6.000 miles to california 2 weeks after running and winning at Ascot in the QE11 stakes on heavy ground
wanna hear something messed up. At one of the festivals, Frankel finished the mile in 1:37:xx which is a ridiculously good time for a mile in Europe, anyway, There was a group 2 Sprint that day which was pretty fast time over 5 furlongs. Frankel posted faster average Furlong times in his win than the winners average furlongs times in the sprint. wtf
@@roberto4001000 I know why that was though obviously. The filly happens to have ran 5 of her races faster than Frankel did over the same distance. One funny thing about Frankel, in one of his mile races his 1 furlong splits he recorder, 3 of the 5 were faster than the winner of the 5 furlong sprint over the same track the day before. MEaning he's a beast
Agreed GBeret, an Arc win would be spine tingling stuff. I hate to criticise Sir Henry but I don't understand why they would delay moving up in trip. Rumour has it he's likely to stay at 8f next time in the Queen Anne. I don't see him gaining any more kudos from winning more races at a mile, we all know he's untouchable there. What would increase his rating, his legend and silence any critics is to clean up at 10/12f. I'm sure he'll stay 10f at least and don't understand Cecil's cautiousness.
Some horses simply can't run on both turf and dirt. It requires a different stride, and some horses can't handle it. Usually in the USA, there are turf horses and there are dirt horses. They are "specialized". The great Secretariat had no problem with his two races on turf. He won both of them, including his last race. But then, there was only one Secretariat, and there will never be another in my lifetime.
Track records dont mean a thing in this country as we race on all types of ground etc Most of the Track records have been set by some moderate animals on very fast ground so you can only base times on the day compared to the standard times for a particular race.but i was only winding you up about Secretariat ,he had a big following in this country when he was demolishing the opposition but even from a betting point of view he never let the punters down
@GBeret83 Totally agree mate. After his exploits last year and especially what Frankel did in the 2000 Guineas for me he became a legend. If he dominated at longer distances this year and could win a KG or Arc he would assume mythical status. I want to see him try, I can't see Frankel shirking the challenge. He's a warrior.
No absolutely! I'm with you all the way, I just find it sad that you can watch a video of an equine superstar and there is abusive comments under even this. Not having a go at you I think Aussies are just envious if anything, but don't bite back, its not worth the hassle. I love all racehorses Irish, French, German, Aussie does'nt matter.I see Frankel at JLT and SS and they were the best days ever, and although its not gonna happen, I just want 2 see him in the Arc. Frankel #1..
The reason he doesn't seem to give his all is that he doesn't need to. When your winning margins are that big what's the point in killing the horse. I just think his step-up in distance in his last race, which he won by 7 lenghts against a top class field shows how good is is. When push came to shove both BC and Camalot were withdrawn from races against him. BC is a top class horse and I am more critical of the owners/ trainers than the horse.
lol black caviar that JUST held on in a big field of mince when it came over here. Frankel would eat it over any distance. Thats why the Aussie horse was packed up and taken home..
yes yes and yes to everything you said bro lol.the only thing you left out is the breeders cup classic.i tend to think that the farther he goes the bigger the margains will be also.i hate the fact that some people label him a miler when i know this horse can be a champion anywhere from 6-12f on any surface.i think if he were entered into the classic he might win by 10.
my own feelings is that he is running in the Queen Anne because he is looking towards the Eclipse as his first start over 10f. The Eclipse is only 2.5 weeks after the POW at Ascot so this could be why he doesn't want to give him a hard race in the POW. If he runs in the POW then i think the Eclipse would be unlikely so his next race would have to be the Sussex and the problem with that is that they probably wouldn't want him to go back down to 8f after running over 10f.
After all is said and done...Secretariat is the greatest ever, Frankel and Black caviar are out and out champs but Secretariats times are outer worldy...may never be broken.
... And when i was alot younger i did a picture of ruffian and he didnt know who she was, i only found out who secretariat was a couple of years ago yet i have been ob the racing scene for a while
Probably a good thing that she wasnt allowed to 'run at her fastest' at Ascot. I think she'd definately have been picked off at the end if she'd been asked for more early on in the race.
International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, World Thoroughbred Rankings Period 1 December 2011 to 28 May 2012. 1st Frankel(GB) ratingt 138, 2nd Black Caviar(Aus) rating 130 Its tough on BC to be around at the same time as Frankel, but get over it - its not even close!
Sure, he's been finishing his races with such power and ease it looks certain he'll get 10f comfortably. In fact, if you think about it, if he does stay the 10f he could well be even more devastating as by definition his 10f opposition will be slower than the milers. I don't think they need to be cautious with this horse. He is beyond brilliant and I want to see what he is capable of. I have a gut feeling he will stay 12f but will Sir Henry risk it?
Totally agree mate. They need to take the gloves off with Frankel. For me, their handling of him is contradictory. Firstly, he's been kept in training as a 4yo which was very sporting as he could have been rushed off to stud. This suggested a bold approach reflecting that Frankel is a gift to racing and the Prince wanted to see what the horse was capable of. We've seen plenty of what he can do at a mile and he may only have 3 or 4 races left. He'll easily get 10f, why are they delaying?
I think the standard of the Cox Plate and Australian racing comes into real effect when you consider that Helmet started favourite for a Cox Plate and won 3 Gr1's in Australia including a Caulfield Guineas and he couldn't get within 17 lengths of Frankel. End of discussion of the standard of Aussie racing. Its shite
Hey Wave, did you see the Frankel race today? How is your policy of always backing against him going? You are a great judge of a horse, mate. What a muppet!
I could sit here posting comments like '' I made an 128% profit last month '' does that make My opinion more valid than anyone elses. The main opinion to take on board is the international handicappers who unquestionably rank Frankel the best racehorse in the world. How can you even judge Black Caviar the better horse? They both run over different distances its like comparing an 100m runner to a 400m runner...
Yeah on that occaision california memory was a little bit better, but the whole point of frankel isnt only that he thrashes his rivals on the day, he does it c-o-n-s-i-s-t-a-n-t-l-y. Thats also why hes better than secretariat, because sec wasnt as consistent.
Look in any horse racing encyclopedia, flying childers is the first great racehorse. He was sired by the darley arabian. I never said they created horseracing, but they did create horseracing as we know it. Thoroughbred lineage came from the darley arabian, the byerly turk and the godolphin arabian , they were all imported to ENGLAND to be bred with mares in ENGLAND producing the thoroughbred in ENGLAND. Flying childers was born in 1714, americas first great racehorse didnt come along untill Le
Why did Frankel need to travel to the US to prove himself..? How many of their top horses there come over here, V few, and why, primarily because they're bred to perform on dirt, Frankel was not bred to race on that surface so why risk him..an example of the worst case scenario on that surface being George Washington, remember him anyone..? And why is 12f the ultimate marker, why is a miler/10f horse not worthy of greatness..? BC was never asked to be anything other than a sprinter & her ability was never doubted because of it. The day when another horse can go unbeaten over 3 seasons at the highest level will be a long time coming, even the very best get tend to get beat eventually but the only number against Frankel's name will only ever be 1....you simply cannot argue with that.....
+Gabriella Grummitt Your quite right and Frankel let the other horses go to America, Ireland and France that he ran against but when when they came back as winners he turned them back into losers.

@CrawT speaking out your ass,she was in the uk smashed your best and youd think if they thought they could beat her they would have raced but they were to shit scared of her, also his connections themselves doubted he'd stay like the likes of sea the stars that why they refused to go to france,so if they doubted him there's no way you can say his the best, probably the best in the uk as a 3yo but thats where its stops with him
Sunline would have picked Black Caviar and carried her over 1200m or 1400m. They weren't even her best distances.
He's the best miler since brigadier gerard. It's as simple as that. All those group ones don't lie.
Australia isn't known for its middle distance types, Since Coolmore and Darley are only starting to tap into Australia that may change in time. SYT was sired by High Chaparall after all.
I never knew that but that’s exactly the reason why for me he was unbeatable
2000 was the best single performance ever
What a horse, the best i've ever seen in my lifetime. I could jockey that horse and it would win by a country mile!
Frankel the star of the show always
Marcus Armytage, Telegraph “The fact is, a Horse’s ability is limited by whereabouts in the speed-stamina spectrum. Horses have either one or the other. Middle distance horses a bit of both until Frankel, who has lots of both. What makes him unique is his ability to go at G1 5f sprinter’s pace over distance. In Frankel, the racehorse breeders’ Holy Grail has been found , He is a lightning strike of genetics which has never been see before and may not be repeated for 100 years”
Is this OK ;-)
In the book that came out about Black Caviar after her retirement came a direct quote that came from Black Caviar's trainer, Peter Moody, that read as follows: "I've been around horses all my life and I've never known one better than Black Caviar. I find judging her place in history hard because I'm so close to her. That's why I've always deferred to other people's opinions. But what I do know is this, Black Caviar is the finest horse I had ever seen or worked with.........until I saw Frankel win the Queen Anne Stakes on that Tuesday at Royal-Ascot.".........End quote.
You are welcome. Yes it was. Glad you found it worthy of comment. (Tongue in cheek WP).
11 from 11 now...love this horse
wanna hear something messed up. At one of the festivals, Frankel finished the mile in 1:37:xx which is a ridiculously good time for a mile in Europe, anyway, There was a group 2 Sprint that day which was pretty fast time over 5 furlongs. Frankel posted faster average Furlong times in his win than the winners average furlongs times in the sprint. wtf
And sea the stars ran the guineas quicker than Frankel and so did the filly in the 1000 the next day ....go figure 👍
@@roberto4001000 kameko was faster in the guineas, so was WORKFORCE in the derby. Like you said, go figure
GREATEST HORSE EVER,,PERFECTION.
Track records dont mean a thing in this country as we race on all types of ground etc
Most of the Track records have been set by some moderate animals on very fast ground so you can only base times on the day compared to the standard times for a particular race.but i was only winding you up about Secretariat ,he had a big following in this country when he was demolishing the opposition but even from a betting point of view he never let the punters down
Frankel is Amazing
Okie man . !^.^
Too true. A beast! :)
gladiator, man o'war , secrétariat, seabiscuit ,ribot , war admiral,sea-bird ,american pharoah ,Frankel True champion
and sea the stars, and Zenyatta, and Black Caviar
Frankel's Epsom Derby and back to back Arc wins will never be matched.
I do hope you are thinking of enable and not Frankel. Frankel never ran past 1 mile and 2 furlongs so never raced in a derby or an Arc.
@@sx200n1 Its called Sarcasm.
@@slide_drexler just checking. Lol. Too many idiots on RUclips so you have to check
my own feelings is that he is running in the Queen Anne because he is looking towards the Eclipse as his first start over 10f.
Best miler of all time.
Jeah Frankel surely the best for his time. I don´t know wheather he beat Sekreteriat or Seabird. This answer you never get to know. Gentle Greets
@19:20, why are the horses strolling casually out of the gate???
After all is said and done...Secretariat is the greatest ever, Frankel and Black caviar are out and out champs but Secretariats times are outer worldy...may never be broken.
... And when i was alot younger i did a picture of ruffian and he didnt know who she was, i only found out who secretariat was a couple of years ago yet i have been ob the racing scene for a while
Frankel hardly ever felt the whip....he ran for Love...and he was loved...
Probably a good thing that she wasnt allowed to 'run at her fastest' at Ascot. I think she'd definately have been picked off at the end if she'd been asked for more early on in the race.
Would love to have seen Frankel go for the derby n Arc...grest horse.
Looks like the Lasix was working well that day then?
Rest in peace Tom great man
Tom ain’t dead?
Franker was absolute monster
my mistake, Nijinsky was not the last triple crown winner.
He sure was
International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, World Thoroughbred Rankings Period
1 December 2011 to 28 May 2012.
1st Frankel(GB) ratingt 138,
2nd Black Caviar(Aus) rating 130
Its tough on BC to be around at the same time as Frankel, but get over it - its not even close!
Secretariat (my father said) and the 'Sea the Stars' are the best i've seen...until...FRANKEL = genius= best in history
Sea the stars was better than hiim
Its shite
I love this guy doing the narration. Who is he?
We love u Henry Cecil xxxx
what experts have said this? Every expert or professional analyst in racing has Frankel the superior animal as far as I know?
Yes. MAN.
The ratings i am talking about are from the international federation of horseracing authorities not timeform
Gabriella Grummitt Well said Gabriella
+Gabriella Grummitt Your quite right and Frankel let the other horses go to America, Ireland and France that he ran against but when when they came back as winners he turned them back into losers.
+Gabriella Grummitt I remember George Washington, the 2006 2000 Guineas winner and I think the QEII at Ascot.
