Definitley didn't pay that for everything! Most of our stuff is second hand so we've found a good amount of deals. Though it's also been collected over the years likely paid around ~$10K for everything over the past 4-5 years as we've furnished our apartment(s)
@@NickLowry you seemed pretty into sourcing your stuff well so I didn’t think you’d be silly and get everything straight off the shelf. I’m a design freak so looking at your apartment was a real treat haha. I hope you’re well and sorry if my last comment seemed a little passive aggressive :)
Nick, I know you're not the plant parent in your home but could you please share what plant that is growing in water on the coffee table. Is it a monstera?
Halfway in and I need to say how much I appreciate the production quality and editing skills. Absolutely phenomenal. Feel like I'm watching a high budget tv series. You're definitely getting that quality feel you've been aiming for in your videos, Elena👏😍
Crazy how times have changed. I lived in the most coveted, historical street in L.I.C. from 1998-2005 in a brownstone which used to house the Ziegfeld Follies dancers. Many famous television shows and movies filmed on my street weekly. My one bedroom apartment had a private patio and entry to a "secret" shared garden maintained by the property owner. Many fabulous parties in that gorgeous garden! My rent there upon exit in July 2005 was $1500. I only left for a new job in Chicago and I cried my eyes out to give up that apartment. I could never afford that apartment now. 😥
Such a HUGE transformation to that area, it was a old or abandoned train tracks by the water, I happen they left some of it there. These new people have NO idea lol
I have been following Nick for quite some time and simply looove his appartement 😍 his taste on furniture is just on point. Thank you for the great video Elena ☺️
It is amazing how that whole area in Long Island City along the Waterfront as transformed. I have lived in Astoria for 65 years near the Steinway piano Factory. Like you said that whole area in Long Island City was all industrial and I am old enough to remember the steam whistle would blow for the warehouses to let them know what time it was the steam whistle with blow 8 in the morning 12 noon and then 4:30 to let out. You have to be around my age to remember the steam whistle. If my memory serves me correctly the steam whistle was on Vernon Boulevard around Borden Avenue somewhere in that area.
wow, you are golden, a necessary connection to the days when the life and/or era that is now being celebrated were the reality. i always wondered how many folks are still around who remember or worked at domino, pepsi or the ______ bread company. for those who did work at the various industries of the area, it was their life line and bread & butter, the steam whistles, the clock chimes and the church bells marking the hour are all sorely missed. they were part of the rhythm and rhyme of an era.
I live in LIC. I love the fact that it is quiet and in the cut. I lived in BK for years and needed a change. My apartment is right at the water across from Manhattan. Where the Macy's fireworks take place.
LOL, Astoria is one of the more expensive neighborhoods in NYC. There are tons of way more affordable neighborhoods than Astoria - All of the Bronx, Staten Island, Eastern Queens and Brooklyn, Harlem are all way more affordable than Astoria. That means the vast majority of the city.
@@kayflip2233 I "USED TO", That area "WAS". And when I was talking about affordability, I also considered tons of other factors then picked the relatively acceptable neighorhoods. Yes, Bronx is affordable, but it's affordable for a reason. You can also get shot walking on the street, hard pass
I know this is meant to focus on NYC but I would love to see your series stretch to other major cities, I think this series is just so amazing, and I’d love to see your series grow.
Yes majority of New Yorkers can’t even afford 1000 rent, so yes this is an aspiration to some but some people are just trying to even get an apartment.
To be fair, $3200 per month is in the realm of average here in NYC. Especially if it's for two. Only way to get anything below $1500 is to have roommate(s)
I love living in LIC! It definitely feels like it's own little city. I'm shocked that this apartment was 3200. Somehow I pay 3,740 for a luxury apartment with 2 bedroom and 2 bath.
That is a charming apartment that reflects the people who live in it.The tour was very informative and l love that he brought his fiancée into the conversation several times.
I have been to many homes in New York and they don't look nice like this... But they do make it work for them with a limited budget and I appreciate that. Also in many homes and apartment storage space is a problem (REAL PROBLEM)
I admire the collection of indoor plants you have. It gives a "revitalizing" atmosphere to the place. Is the sofa by Le Corbusier? I love its shape and dimensions. I have an LC3 Sofa from Manhattan Home Design and I love its design and materials. Thanks for the tour!
Could use another sofa or two upholstered chairs opposite the couch, ideally not in black and chrome, awkward amount of open space there and everything is just shoved up against the walls, bigger rug too, I bet this space could look cool with black or green walls too which could reduce some of the visual clutter
As someone who sews for a living, Im gonna go out on a limb and say that sewing machine is mainly for show at this point. The amount of particles and thread and scrap fabric and noise that would happen if you sewed out in the open like that is just impractical. She must put together precut samples every now and then or something. But that's nowhere near a sewing space.
4:31 - floyd bed ($1.5-$3k each)
4:41 - Artek stool ($300 each)
4:53 - Akari 1N ($175 each)
4:57 - Akari 70EN ($550 each)
5:15 - CB2 mirror ($350 each)
7:04 - Mies van der Rohe mr 10 side chair ($1.5-$2k each)
7:59 - LC2 sofa ($8-$10k each)
8:06 - Jean Prouve lamp ($1.3k each)
8:47 - Interconnect Candleholder ($300 each)
10:23 - butterfly stool ($650 each new)
9:12 - Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer ($3.5-$4k)
That’s about $20k in just the furniture I know 😃

What is the walnut coffee table with the curve?
@@NickLowry You have a good eye for bargains and you know your stuff. What a wonderful collection of classics.

@@futureimperfect2826 It's a selloum philodendron that we moved over to water culture about a year or so ago and it's been loving it!
Where is your coffee table from? I love the shape!
@@May0408 Thank you! the coffee table is by Kardiel!
Thanks Nick for answering!
He reminds me so much of my brother in law who passed away 3 years ago. Put a smile on my face. Fantastic apartment.

I'm a bit younger then you, but I would remember seeing the hooker walking along LIC and how it was a pretty bad area back then
Wow thanks for that info must be cool to see the changes

I really love this apartment series! That apartment is gorgeous, and I’m learning so much about New York City!!
Long island city is underrated. I used to live in Astoria and that area was one of the only affordable ones left in NYC.

Would love to see some housing on here that represents the type of apartment that the average New Yorker lives in.
Why? Aren't you looking for aspiration and inspiration, Why do you need to see regular apartments?
@@beatricerights can still get inspiration from regular apartments, probably more

I love Nick’s photos on Instagram. Apartment perfection! So cool to see a video of it.

Oh thank you so much for featuring Nick, I love his content on IG so it’s great to know a bit more about him !

So interesting how he describes NYC as quiet due to everyone doing their own thing!

Wowww thank you for showing the LIC area! I’m actually living in the building behind the Pepsi sign. Really love the neighborhood here!
I think I've never seen such a unique design style! Simply gorgeous!
Interesting I didn’t even get through the video because the space and decor reminded me of another typical influencer apartment.
ahh recognised nick's apartment right away, love it so much
So intrigued by the way he pronounces things sometimes, particularly his E's
Awesome video. Love the open space in Nick's apartment that right there is a hidden gem in Long Island City.
been living in LIC for a few years now and will probably stay here for a few more. love the dog community and all the great food options
Love how Nick mentions the designers!

I've been following Nick for about a year on Instagram and I really loved the amount of detail that went into this!
