But the recommended is 12.5% SH mix, right? And when using X-JET M5 it will mix the water and SH appropriately, right? So shouldn't the target SH % be 12.5% if using an X-JET M5?
As a soapmaker who works with Sodium Hydroxide at much higher concentrations, I appreciate how thorough you went over the safety for this. Thank you! 🙏🙂 5:20 Yes, this is very important! Although, you didn't quite cover this fully in the video (aside from getting all the air out). 1 thing that I see too often in videos from pressure washers who use sodium hydroxide, is they leave the lid off the bucket for an excess amount of time. I'm just awkwardly staring at the bucket like: "Don't just leave it out! Cover it if you're not using it!" Sodium Hydroxide is hydrophilic and loves to absorb the moisture that is in the air. The more moisture that it draws in, the faster that the potency/strength begins to degrade. 3:08 A friendly tip: Many people avoid long sleeves because (most) long sleeves are made for the colder weather, and can overheat in the summertime. To avoid this issue, look up "arm sleeves" at Farming supply shops. These arm sleeves are designed to protect farmers arms from not just thorns, but is made of a breathable fabric that protects from the intense sun of summer, and doesn't overheat. This also will allow you to easily remove the sleeves, without having to change your whole shirt when doing so. 2:26 The only bit that I disagree with, is the vinyl gloves (I know you layered it with a secondary set of gloves, so I'm not meaning you in general. I'm referring to if someone just uses the vinyl gloves by themselves). Vinyl gloves offers very little protection against chemicals. When working with a caustic material such as sodium hydroxide, it's better to use nitrile gloves instead. Nitrile gloves are more durable and stronger, but they are also made to be chemical resistant as well.

Boric acid nutrilzes sodium hydroxide. Ask me how I know .... its a bye product of making chlorine so is hydrogen. Used to make it from saltwater . When producing it , it turns from a liquid state to a solid at 450 degrees. Its used in MOST processed foods , dye in blue jeans, a buffer for aspirin and drain cleaners.

hello good morning. I follow you from Colombia. congratulations for your professionalism in what you do and super clear in your videos. I have a question if you can help me; Does the hose to apply sodium and so on have to have any special characteristics?
First off thank you for being a supporter and leaving feedback. We truly appreciate you! You can downstream, or use a egg hose for a dedicated soft wash system, or use a pump sprayer or an x jet, as long as you rinse it out for at least a couple minutes after each use and let it dry out. It should last a long time.
Great video by an honest man willing to share. I’m researching this and I can’t get a handle on the set up. Would you share a simple setup for beginners like me. A diagram would be great that I could follow and install myself. I just don’t have the funds to get someone to make up the system. Thanks.
Sodium hydroxide works great on organic grease and stains but not very good on synthetic oils or motor oils, transmission fluid ect. For those types oils as and stains you need butyl
That’s exactly what I tell people sorry I’m on drugs that is good for grease and work some on oil, stains and grease stains. You could always use different types of chemicals that may work better. I always like trying new things out if you have any suggestions definitely send them my way and I appreciate the support. Thank you.

Nice content. I am following you on your Facebook group as well. It is refreshing to see someone offering real-world help without trying to plug you into their "program". I have done a ton of concrete stain removal, but it is an area I have thought about. As far as process goes, after applying it, do you agitate or scrub it? Do you use your surface cleaner? Thanks for covering the safety aspect! Lastly, I don't x-jet too frequently, but if you were to use a pump up sprayer, (say a 2 gallon sprayer), what would your ratio be of chem and water?
First of all thanks 😊 for those very kind words and I simply want to give back as much info as I can so that’s why I am fully transparent. I mix roughly 10 to 12 ounces per gallon, are use 2 to 3-12 ounce cups in a 5 gallon bucket of cold water, that’s what I start with and I add more if I need it. that’s what works for me. thank you for the support and the feedback, I am on Instagram and TikTok as well and drop content there if you have it. I worked with CAUSTIC SODA /SODIUM HYDROXIDE for 13 years in an industrial setting. Long Sleeves, Nitrile elbow length gloves with cuff turned down about 3 inches (so any spill or caught caustic pearls get trapped and fall away from you) , rubber boots (with rain pants over boots), industrial raincoat jacket and rain pants, face shield and chemical goggles. We still got chemical burns. Caustic will dissolve skin, muscle, hair and will destroy eyeballs. To neutralise this after using it to clean paths etc, it needs to have a mild acid solution added to the waste puddles because it will take too long to breakdown by itself. I suggest NOT using this 100% version, rather use a purchased diluted liquid around 1- 3%. Its just way to dangerous and the risks to others after you leave the job will be ongoing for days and that = liability. (do you own your house, not for long).
All said and done x jet pulls 1:4 I’d put about 40 oz in for cold water machine.. how much dawn do you use? And can I use a drill attached stirring stick without it volcanoing or burning myself?
What can I use to get really old clay and oil stains out, I done my best today. I just wish I could get it all looking back to brand new concrete, I used muratic acid, zep degreaser. Didn’t pull it all out, but now I don’t feel bad that it’s not gonna all come out. I got a gas station and it’s so hard to get up. 😒

Will a pump up sprayer work ok for this sodium hydroxide mix?
I would be very careful using a pump up sprayer and use it and rinse it after each use and do not store it in liquid form for long periods
Any pump sprayer would work ,good quality of course
