- Did you know that before Charles' relationship with Princess Diana, he dated her own older sister? Lady Sarah was said to be the most beautiful and intelligent of the Spencer family. The prince liked her, but Sarah had her own secrets. She was a great tennis player, but at 18 she was kicked off the school team for systematic drinking. And on top of that, when her father brought home her stepmother, Countess Rayne Legg, Sarah got her siblings to go around shouting, Rain, rain, get away! Sarah ended up spending a lot of time with Prince Charles, but publicly called him a "romantic who falls in love easily." And when Charles went to Switzerland and took Sarah with Diana, then there came a journalist James Whittaker, who talked Sarah and made her tell a lot of unnecessary things about herself. One of her phrases became fatal: "I would not marry someone I did not love, whether it was a rubbish collector or the King of England." Charles took it as an offence and ended the relationship.

Was Lady Sarah before Camilla, or during/after? Unsure about the timeline here. Maybe if things had gone well with Sarah, Camilla wouldn't have "happened". But that's all speculation. 🤷

This was a teenage girl he barely knew. To her, he was a nearly middle aged distant figure, an ex of her sister’s. This was an arranged marriage with unrealistic expectations on both sides.
