Make sure to get the arctic heater working, you will never be cold in the winter! Loved that while at Ft. Drum! Your rod holder was for litters to carry patients! IF you remove the NBC system you will gain more storage! Replace your patient compartment lights with LED, will be able to see 1000% better! They are deceivingly light also. I drove a 2 seater into a creek and instead of hitting bottom, we floated.
I love this channel so much from the fishing to the restoration to the awkward silences I’m here for it and I can’t wait for every new episode!!! Never stop being you AYO!!!
I am very excited to watch this upcoming series. I very nearly bought one of these about a decade ago specifically to build an off-road camper. I look forward to living vicariously!
24:15 Congratulations on your first catch in the Hummer! Using it as a catch net is rather unique and the lack of passenger door means that it likely got away but there'll be further opportunities!
I see AYO come up in my feed, I shut everything down so I can watch! You crack me up bro! Keep going man! Your channel can be HUGE!!! Love the Hummer! 😮 😂😂😂
First thing I learned off roading was to air down your tires. Your humvee has an air system so you can do this from the cab. It also has Beadlock tires with run flats inside so you can air it down to the max. 5-10 psi will get you through 4 or 5x the mud and sand. I went down a riverbed and got stuck, next guy came to pull me out HE got stuck, third guy came and tried to pull us out then asked if we let the air out of our tires, we had no clue, once we aired down we drove right out, did not even need a tow. We had walked out twice for a total of like 4 miles in knee deep water LMAO lesson learned! Dont forget to air back up when you get to the street.
Here’s something helpful for you: TM9-2320-280-10 (the whole series up to 40 - they have multiple parts) TM 9-2320-387-10 is the newer generation. Goes all the way up to 40. Theyre written to a level that someone who has severe problems putting gas in a car can work on them. Its the operator manual and all instructions for maintenance and parts info.
Build your kitchen above the water line. Then make places to hold your bedding up high too so you don't have to sleep in soggy beds. Haha!!! Also, check your transmission, engine oil, axle lube, etc to make sure that they don't have water in them after driving submerged.
Loved driving my FLA all kinds of places while stationed in Central America. Make sure you check the filter seal (big black canister that has the 'NO STEP' sticker on it) frequently. I've seen a lot of engines get hydro-locked because that was leaking and drawing water into engine during fording operations. Love this project! Most HMMWVs get the initial parts that takes the fording depth to 30" then it's easier in the field to add the high water fording kit that takes the fording depth to 60".
AYO strikes back and buys more stuff because his sponsorships lets it happen. I'm assuming Mrs AYO is also incredibly cool about his madcap ideas? ❤😂😊😊😊
I was a medic in the military and loved my FLA- (four litter ambulance) M997. The compartments in the rear were for litters. The air conditioner was great in the Mississippi heat and the desert as well and of course the heat in the winter months. When I supported rangers I would find cadres and SGL’s sneaking into the back to chill, taking my bed. Did it come with or without the rear doors. Nice grab.
@@hammerT2997the cot the casualties or patients are carried on. Those two benches in the back and the two racks are to secure litters with patients on, or if you are doing field training a bed for the medics. Also in the back of the rig under the tail lights there are compartments they carried the spare litters.
@@KflanntheRailfan that makes sense. Saw another comment that made it sound like it was an extra spot for injured soldiers. Then again I could've just been sleepy lol. Big thanks for your service and answer.
To all the military members sharing their stories below, thank you for your service and your contribution to this video, really enjoyed reading the personal stories connected to the military history.
i haven’t fished in 20 years, but i watch every episode because AYO makes everything interesting and fun, and i love his sense of humor. keep it coming!
This videos was so fun to watch. I can't wait to see more videos about that thing. I now have 2 things that I need Ayo to make more videos on. I am waiting for the next Itty Bitty vids.
Just an FYI, the red cross is a protected symbol under the Geneva convention. This means *technically* you are committing a war crime by having it on the humvee still. Lots of things have made the mistake so not a big problem, but as you are putting out videos, might want to sort it asap. Great video though as always!
Make sure you get the correct -10 for all the maintenance and service intervals and correct fluids it will tell you everything you need to know about it, but love the content brother keep it up
A hmmwv with out the deep water fording kit is set up for 30 inches, basically the top of the tires, which is why the engine was already set up for fording. with the kit its rated for 60 inches which is halfway up the windshield. You can also find the manual for it online, which should answer any basic questions.
🇺🇸🦅 Dude, I always thought the Humvee ambulance would make the best Overland Rig. The 6.5 is a turd, but JH Diesel out of Bradenton Florida can really make the 6.5 Diesel run amazing with a cam, injectors and big turbo. Look him up on RUclips. He is Cleetus’s friend and neighbor. He plays with military vehicles all the time. To be honest you can get by with just a new fuel system, injectors and a Turbo. That has the Allison transmission and it’s bulletproof. I would take it to JH and have him change every fluid, front and rear differentials, transfer case, transmission oil and filter, and have him work magic on that 6.5. They don’t turn hard enough to hurt themselves. The cargo area would make a great camper. I have wanted to build a overland rig out of one for years. I bid on 3-4 and lost at the last minute. You have to set at the computer and keep bidding to get one. My buddy just bought a regular soft top Humvee Truck this way. Excited to see more content from this Rig. But you definitely need to take it to someone like JH to make it run better. Stock they only run like 60-65 on the highway. I hear their is a guy in Alabama that works on these Rigs and makes them capable of highway speeds also. You definitely got a killer Rig AYO. But please build out the lifeboat and take a big river trip down the Tennessee river to Mobile. Be great for content. 🇺🇸🦅
None of the HMMWV variants have an Allison transmission. They’re a 3L60 or 4L80E. mated to a 6.2 or 6.5 naturally aspirated diesel. Uparmored ones were the only ones to actually have a turbo. Its a derated Chevy pickup. If you want an allison - FMTVs and larger.
@@roundsm18 good to know. I know a guy that put a 6.6 Duramax in a 4 door HMMWV soft top. His had the Allison transmission. He must have installed that Transmission when he did the engine swap. I just figured they came that way. I would still take the 6.5 and install a Turbo. The 4L80 can be a good transmission also. I still think the Ambulance version would make a great overland rig. I missed a couple on auction and I keep looking for another to bid on. Like to find one close to Indiana because of transport prices. Plus I would like to go look over the Rig before I bid. Some auctions will not let you inspect before the sale. But I will keep looking. Thanks for teaching me a few things about these rigs.
I gotta throw this out there, I’m a little disappointed that no Itty Bitty content hasn’t come out, regardless love the channel, just wanted more Itty Bitty😢🤣🤷♂️
As an FYI theat thing above your head is a hookup for the clean air filtration system in a chemical environment. You hook up your m40 pro mask with a hose. Need no key but there's probably the cable there still to lock the wheel. Also the heat has separate controls for the back and the front
Was holding off watching this vid didn’t know if I would enjoy this one. But I love this idea and want to see some crazy camping in a remote area with this thing
Also check for water in the motor every time it goes underwater it can still find its way in. And the rear differential has a vent line on it if it's rotted off you can get water in it. So many variables
You will need to replace the doors to get it to swim. The water enters the cab and back area too fast. Slowing the flotation abilities of the military truck.
AYO entertains once again, good video. Mason does an excellent job getting the rig up and running. For your brother-in-law he pulls off the good shots, McDonalds priceless with the girls.
You caught a fish with the Hummer and didn't even know it!!! @24:14 as you are pulling it out of the water , a small fish can be seen flipping out of the water between the 2 lower bunks!!👍
If you're going to be fording you'll need to make sure that you relocate diff/gearbox breathers too. Water will get into all your fluids. I have to say, I don't even fish but I've been binge watching all these videos 😂.
@AYO The first pipe is fine, that’s a smaller filter. Just remove the foil. There’s a small clamp it slides in behind the coolant reservoir.
