Thanks for all the wonderful comments-we had fun making this video. Sadly, not long after we wrapped, our friends' home, the location where we shot it, was destroyed when a giant oak tree fell on it during a storm. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but this document of one musical morning in our friends' lovely house is even more valuable to us all now. Thanks for watching.
This guy got me through some of the weirdest, lonliest parts of lockdown. Glad I found him in those dark times. And glad he's getting the recognition he deserves.
He opened for the decemberists this summer and my mom and I were completely blown away and have been obsessed ever since. He is so good live that, as good as this video is, it doesn't do him justice.
These guys are the crew you want to walk round a corner and come across, bliss out to, and make new friends. Sweet music. Thanks from the other side of the world.

Or it can be a derogatory term intended to devalue the efforts of musicians who have clearly mastered their need to express themselves through their performances rather than sit back and throw grenades. I met jake in Hebden Bridge, UK in August. Personal, no stress, just raw and pure music and one of the best live acts I’ve seen. He’s a wizard on the Guitar!
His music gives me goosebumps, it resonates with my soul on such a deep level! It's so beautiful, angelic. Truly rare talent, I don't think I've ever cried in this way to music before. I've listened to him for some time but just discovered this session - thank you for this gift!
I first heard "Raggy Levy" on WMPG college radio in Portland , Maine over 20 years ago. never knew the artist. Finally tracked Jake down a few years ago, and I'm so grateful. The restraint he shows, his timing, his voice are transcendent. Thank you Jake and gang!!!
Do yourselves a favor, kick your feet up, pour yourself another cup of coffee, smoke um if you gottum, and listen to this sweet music. If you don't love the second song, ("Have you ever seen peaches growing on a sweet patata vine?" The second verse "wake up woman, take your big leg off of mine,") then you ain't no friend of mine.
45 secondes and I pressed the thumb up. This is so good and so different from what we usually ear from Florida inhabitants. Once more thank you NPR, from Montréal, Canada.
@@jamost I'm really sorry, I read the description a little to fast. They mentionned Florida and I concluded that the band was from there. Désolée de Montréal, Canada.
Wow I fell in love when I first heard John, now to see that Libby is playing with himMI guess I shouldn’t be surprised. She’s one of my all time favorite musicians, be sure to check out her band Mipso.
Found this browising NPR this weekend and got addictated listening in loop 3 days in a row. His Tele sounds amazing!!! Curious how he got such a warm sound out of it. And yes..... watching someone tuning with capo is very painful for guitarist :)
I met Jake through Butch Anthony about 20 yrs ago, so glad to see him get national attention. Also cool to see Libby playing with him, introduced to her through Mipso.

I really have no idea why, but this music brings me peace.

This music makes me nostalgic for a place I’ve never visited, I can smell and feel the summer where these songs were made. ❤️
This is the most soothing thing I have ever listened to. I guess I'm gonna just go sit on my porch swing the rest of the day?
The intro to Have You Ever Seen……Is so enticing, absolutely beautiful.
Best company for healing a hip replacement. Thank you, Jake Xerxes Fussell. All day, every day.❤

Saw him open for Magnetic Fields. Was not sure what I was in for. Quiet as a mouse and my jaw never got picked up off the floor.
One of the best tiny desks I’ve ever seen. Thanks Jake and band, simply beautiful!

This is my set of the year - beautiful, humble music. Wish there was more instead of just playing it on repeat!
Same sense of beauty as Calexico or Iron and Wine. Gorgeous voice, gorgeous music. Makes the world seem decidedly better than it is.

Yay! I love him and I’m glad he’s now up here
Oh happy days! A new band to fall in love with. It's been awhile.
This music fills my soul, love it.
Beautiful. Glad I ran across this!
John C. Reilly is really taking this music thing seriously
Hahahaha I see what you did there
You do know John C Reilly performs folk music and has his own Tiny Desk correct? I actually plan on listening to that once I am done with Jake here.
Man tunes his own guitar. No tuner. I could listen to him play that guitar all night. Sweet sounds..
Incredible. Lovely. Soothing. Thankyou.
Music from the simple times of life... the first song; a man calling down the road sellin his wares... who'd a thunk it would make me so nostalgic?
Thanks yall
