Ever since I saw him play the spy with PTSD in Star Wars, I've been a fan. It reminded me of the first time I saw Denzel or Oldman's work - Riz is the real deal.
We all are voiced for our mothers' unconditional love. We don't talk about how our dads love us. Their sacrifices, chances they have taken and risks just for us to consider them as our hero. This movie will tell u why we should give equal love to both of our parents. Esp our dads☺️
Glad you & your rents have a good relationship & love the message here but if what you're taking from this HIGHLY science fiction movie is that we should give equal love to both of our parents because our dads are gonna save us from parasitic invasions, stay in school.. no offense it is 4am & I haven't slept but I'm just shocked that someone really has the audacity to say as a collective we are neglecting the father construct when the mother has always been seen as the lesser & always does more & is systematically paid less for it. Maybe our dads wouldn't have to make ridiculous sacrifices to be considered a hero if they just acted like that, a dad; that would be hero enough. Unfortunately we live in a time of severe toxic masculinity which is why the general public voices so strongly our appreciation to our divine mothers. (My father was an amazing man and yes our parents do deserve equal love but speaking on a matter that is personal to you doesn't mean the majority will resonate & reflect that back & actually statistically the majority has more absent fathers nowadays then they do moms) sending you love💖🤍💜

As a veteran myself, I can relate with some of the psychosis you deal with and this just had my heart. I like Riz and he has done a phenomenal job. He was so powerful and believable; had me in tears. Our vets need help. Thank you for this movie.
"Take Shelter" was truly a pleasant surprise. Loved every second of it. Beautiful cinematography and a great, mesmerizing performance by Michael Shannon, who plays a "doomsday prepper" plagued by recurring visions of impending doom I can't recommend it enough!
Absolute banger. I don't want to spoil anything, you can sort of see the plot a mile away, but the movie still keeps you guessing and maintains tension all the way until the end. I was not prepared for all the feels. All actors are believable and fit their roles, but Rhiza Ahmed (Malik Khan) and Lucian-River Chauhan (Jay, Malik's oldest son) are both incredible. Watch this movie and don't forget to tell your dad you love him, because chances are you don't say it enough.

Id recommend -- I have a general rule regardless of reviews - My #1 Rule is watch a movie at least 20mins - if the movie interests me I keep watching --- This movie kept my attention, the acting was good, the cinematography was great, the editing/sound great, the plot isnt new but everything else made this worth watching, is it predictable,? Maybe but again the other things I mentioned its worth it. Remember -- give it 20mins -- not when you see the film credits or who produced it at the beginning -- From when the movie actually starts.
Because it was a bait and switch. It's listed as a sci-fi but it's just a psychological/dramatic thriller, so people going in expecting a sci-fi are rating it low. It would be like going to watch something listed as a horror movie and getting a romantic comedy.
After watching: 1st time: Huh? Is that it?? 2nd time: OMG, now I understand the whole concept about this movie. This is pretty good and make me think about the issues we have today. I cried at the end.

Sitting in a pool of my own tears after watching this because the message combined with Riz's God-gifted talent and heartfelt acting is just an emotional rollercoaster, and because I didn't know how much I needed to see this. I have a turbulent relationship with my family, my dad especially, and while it's hard to see past the lies and deception and suffering, it's important to remember that there is a human being worth your compassion, empathy, and a bond that transcends the pain. With the holidays on our heels and a looming pandemic that has indefinitely opened our eyes to a different world and changed our relationships to give them a whole different meaning, I don't think this movie could have come at a better time. If you decide to watch this, just know you won't be sorry!

'bug' was good. lol. you've gotta see him in 'revolutionary road'. as soon as i heard kathy bates saying her son had a phd in mathematics and just came out of the mental hospital, i had to see him! from the first scene when he enters the home and they say the kids are at someone's house, michael shannon's grin and his words are hilarious.
I think this was the best film i have seen all year, interesting, RELEVANT plot, intriguing, a brilliant soundtrack and Aphex Twin's use of 'Rhubarb' in one scene was both surreal and a touch of class. Overal, a well cared for piece of film making, nothing rushed here, the very ending might not be to everyone's taste but it left me sat there rather stunned in my clouded thoughts of what is happening in our world today. 8.5/10

Outstanding film! Excellent acting by Riz Ahmed. I knew nothing about the film or the actor prior to watching the film (had not even watched the trailer) and took a chance on watching it. I am glad I did, it is one of of the best films I have seen in 2021. I was surprised by the lead actor, who I thought did an excellent job, with believable American accent (sounding like Texas or rural America), and his ability to show complex emotions including fear, love, compassion, anger, etc. The kids were very good too. Highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys good story telling and acting.
So I watched this movie last night. It's not the best movie I've ever seen - totally predictable - but Riz was PHENOMENAL (per usual). I'll watch anything he's in.
This was a very good movie, interesting story line. All great actors including the kids. Especially loved Octavia Spencer's performance. She's always excellent! She really shined in this movie.
I 100% assume it's a commentary about PTSD and mental illness. I can see it being suggested all the way through that it could be either and then it being revealed that it's always been in his head. I can also see it having a credits 'wink to the audience' where it's made explicit that it was aliens the whole time.
A PTSD story, no question. I don’t even get why everyone mentions aliens, there’s zero implication of it in the trailer. Is it because of the word “encounter”? The guy’s hallucinating bugs, what aliens and where?
Excellent movie! Riz is fine as hell. Those two little boys are talented & super cute. The story line was relevant especially with how COVID related mental health has become such a huge issue. And I love the sista parole officer. Great movie

I don't understand why anyone would edit a trailer to start with a loud burst of sound and quick clips of the movie. It just steps on the whole vibe the trailer is trying to set.

I'm just gonna put this out there, but I honestly don't believe that many people are excited for this movie. Everyone keeps leaving comments like 'Oscars', and "looks incredible', and I gotta say the trailer just looks, alright, to me. Is Amazon using bots now to leave comments and likes? I'm sure this movie will be a decent psychological thriller that has nothing to do about aliens. Regardless, I don't see the hype.

So I watched this movie last night. It's not the best movie I've ever seen - totally predictable - but Riz was PHENOMENAL (per usual). I'll watch anything he's in.

This was a very good movie, interesting story line. All great actors including the kids. Especially loved Octavia Spencer's performance. She's always excellent! She really shined in this movie.

Till the end, you wouldn’t be sure of the narrative. You can’t predict the ending. It keeps you hooked till the last frame.
Strong Performances. Movie has purpose and depth. 10/10.

If there aren't Aliens, and this is all in his head. I'll be extremely disappointed.
I absolutely hate it when they do that.
I could see that happening if he were white but it's Riz Ahmed so they're probably real.
I 100% assume it's a commentary about PTSD and mental illness. I can see it being suggested all the way through that it could be either and then it being revealed that it's always been in his head. I can also see it having a credits 'wink to the audience' where it's made explicit that it was aliens the whole time.

A PTSD story, no question. I don’t even get why everyone mentions aliens, there’s zero implication of it in the trailer. Is it because of the word “encounter”? The guy’s hallucinating bugs, what aliens and where?

Excellent movie! Riz is fine as hell. Those two little boys are talented & super cute. The story line was relevant especially with how COVID related mental health has become such a huge issue. And I love the sista parole officer. Great movie

looks awesome. I'm so glad he's from the Midwest and has a Midwest accent. Show that just because you are an immigrant or your family were immigrants it doesn't mean u are not an American. Kind of a modern take on invasion of the body snachers
RUclips without dislikes makes such a problematic world. You cant know whats good out there whats not. Super annoying

I don't understand why anyone would edit a trailer to start with a loud burst of sound and quick clips of the movie. It just steps on the whole vibe the trailer is trying to set.
Whew I just finished watching and def enjoyed this. Steered clear of all the typical tropes, clichés and expectations you might expect from a story like this. Well done!

I'm just gonna put this out there, but I honestly don't believe that many people are excited for this movie. Everyone keeps leaving comments like 'Oscars', and "looks incredible', and I gotta say the trailer just looks, alright, to me. Is Amazon using bots now to leave comments and likes? I'm sure this movie will be a decent psychological thriller that has nothing to do about aliens. Regardless, I don't see the hype.

I just couldn’t stop crying… 😢 This was a really uncomfortable movie to watch. And very emotional… and so so sad and heartbreaking…
They made it look like a UFO/alien type movie but it has nothing to do with any encounter. No closure at end. Recommend a pass on this one.

One thing for sure, is Octavia Spencer and Riz Ahmed choose good stories. So I know this will be worthwhile.
