Great vid. As a Malaysia 25:48 n Chinese . I still prefer nasi lemak cooked by Malay cooks. Somehow sambal is really sambal🤭. But I do eat non Malay nasi lemak to get diversity in my stomach.. 😂. But thank u to abang biker paying for their bfast. Terima kasih boss.. 🙏
I'm Chinese. Out of all the nasi lemak I ate, my favorite one was one cooked by Indian. But in general I prefer the Malay version. Chinese and Indian version of nasi lemak can vary a lot by stalls, but Malay version tend to be more consistent. From my experience, at least.
The thing that separates Ichang and Jimmy with other content creators is their ability to really capture and verbalise flavour via their thoughts and ideas, tapping into the culture, history of a dish or flavour Its just nice to see the both of you really dive deep into Malaysia while still retaining the manners and gentleness of the Japanese culture I really wish nothing but the best and success for these two Always wholesome to be notified of a new upload by Ichang channel everynow and then May God keep you both safe anywhere the adventure brings you 🙏🏾👊🏾👍🏾

Thank you jimmy & ichang.. u open our new knowledge about variety of nasi lemak cross culture that we have in Malaysia.. we malays have certain halal gaps among non muslim, especially about food but still we respect each other.. to indian and chinese u guys are so creative making basic nasi lemak more flavourfull and colourfull like Malaysia❤

Fragrant rice, a dollop of sambal, bit of egg and ikan billis. Heaven in a little parcel. ❤️ Malaysia is truly a foodie wonderland (plus full of the nicest people!).

You guys are very good to be able to differentiate the different style so accurately... Great video as always... The Cantonese at the end shows your experience from Hong Kong...
This is what I love about Malaysia ❤ we can choose various types of the same food and it caters each preferences … I believe this is one of the reason Malaysian will never be bored eating the same food sometimes … 😊 Thanks Ichang and Jimmy for your wonderful video
I really love this video the same dish but a different story that's what Malaysia is great for everyone has their own recipe for the nasi lemak but all have the same goal that makes people enjoy their nasi lemak ❤❤❤

It is good to keep our morning nasi lemak breakfast to the very basic. All the side dishes are only for nasi campur during lunchtime. The problem is its hard to resist the temptation of having at least one of those delicious ayam goreng or sotong or kerang or rendang into your morning nasi lemak. You need to have an iron will every morning.
My first choice will always go to Malay’s Nasi lemak! Then Indian Nasi Lemak 😋😋 Chinese Nasi lemak have to go with Pulau Ketam Nasi lemak 🥹🥹 amboi Sudah lapar whenever talk about Nasi lemak
I'm like Ichang. always go for simple, basic nasi lemak. I feel like if you add too much lauk, then the aesthetic of nasi lemak & the authenticity is gone. it becomes nasi campur with coconut rice. after all, nasi lemak is a very simple dish.
@@nvcxznbcxzno worries, the neighbouring country won’t claim the pork rendang…hahahaha. The malay also knows chinese eat pork so it’s up to yr creativity to enjoy what you can eat. It’s other mamak who get alarmed, not pure malay.
During breakfast at least once a week, I eat nasi lemak packed with banana leaf, with sambal, half boiled egg, ikan bilis n cucumber slices. Simple as IChang mentioned...Sedap...
Nice video as usual. I think i saw both you and ichang walking away from the nasi lemak spot that one time. Not sure if it was during this video or a different one 😊
Makes me feel like getting nasi lemak for supper! hahaha =) Ichang and Jimmy - this is one dish that unites all Malaysians. Such an enjoyable video to see you guys appreciate Nasi Lemak like we do. I personally also like the warung style nasi lemak. I will go and try these 3 stalls one day. Keep making the videos you do! :)
If the nasi lemak is cooked with onion, ginger, pandan leaf, fenugreek and coconut milk...it will be so delicious. Good that there are many styles because of the different races in Malaysia. ❤
Yeahh!! The deliciousness and it's the BEST !! ❤️ When the RICE in Nasi Lemak is cooked with those condiments, it's the Epitome of traditional Nasi Lemak. Sangatlah sedap! However, Not all nasi lemak Rice is cooked with these condiments though it's quite typical in JB. Maybe it differs from state to state.
7:57 the Indian style Nasi Lemak Wild Boar should pack with customers too... the menu looks delicious 😁👍 If only the restaurant is halal, definitely i comeover.
Great video iChang & Jimmy👍🏻👏🏻. When u next go to Penang, u must try d local Penang Nonya nasi lemak. It’s usually small, simple & comes with a fried assam prawn & a small piece of fried assam fish besides the usual nasi lemak condiments.
Thanks to both of you. Nice sharing indeed! I love all forms of NL but true enough, eat it as in their original / basic form otherwise it becomes 'Nasi Campur'...😂
11:30 "I feel like This is Malaysia!" Jimmy couldn't have picked a better time and spot to say this🤗: Indian restaurant cooking Malay dish on the right, with a Chinese mini-altar in the background honouring Malay spirits.
My mouth is watering. We do not get authentic deliciousness like this where I live. Even home made is sub par because the ingredients are not the same. The restaurants do their best here but they cannot match or beat the authenticity of the food in Malaysian/SE asian regions. I recommend you try my other Malaysian/Singaporean favorites: Murtabak with curry sauce, plain is great, Mee Rebus, Chinese food and popular chinese restaurants (no fanciness) like Kolo Mee, Char Kway teow. They are dry fried noodles and really good. Worth trying with Satay/peanut curry sauce.
im also prefer simple basic nasi lemak.with fried egg.thats all i want for my nasi lemak.maybe sometimes i will add some lauk such as paru goreng or ayam goreng
keep making more diverse content like this.. as a malay i never thought what kind of lauk would indian or chinese eat with their rice or what kind of menu would the local loves.. at least as a malaysian i get to learn something about my neighbours culture 💕
i really loved mother devi-ji at the wild boar nasi lemak; she is indian-chinese and such a sweet face complete with bindi! what a benign and auspicious fusion of diverse cultures often shown by media to be in conflict with each other. thank you and bless you for bringing out the loving and positive aspects of human beings, interpreted via their food culture as well as behavior with other humans. btw, pls experiment with making pad thai as well as fried rice with iChang sambal!! let us know how you each reacted!
hahaha the pork curry looks yummy but it's haram for me... if compared with chicken curry I may be confused. This is the uniqueness of Malaysia... u can get everything here... just respect each other we all can live well...
the first one is closer to authentic traditional nasi lemak, the simple version will be easier to express what is the real taste of nasi lemak, as the more side ingredient added may cover up the soul of the “nasi lemak” taste, which is the coconut rice itself, thus it may overshadow what is supposed to be the signature taste of nasi lemak, and would not be easier for people to remember the uniqueness of this dish.
Kedah Nasi lemak truely delicious, especially the one packed with banana leaf that are selling at the pasar pagi market. Very simple but very lemak with heavy coconut milk taste. So difficult to get it now. While in the early 90's, one packet was only selling at 20 cents.
i say nasi lemak in Malaysia everywhere is delicious... did you ever try kolo mee.. the ingredient is just only mince meat, char siew, fragrant fried onion oil. you can order white or red only two.. and also kampua
I agree with ichang. The best authentic nasi lemak is the simplest. I like mine wrapped in banana leaf. Nasi lemak daun Pisang. It elevates the aroma and taste of the nasi lemak. This is how people long time ago eat.
16:53 I don't know if this is near a tourist spot or something but why is it there are these occasional Malaysians in yours videos who know how to communicate in Japanese? 😂 I learned through the internet and talking to online friends but I wonder how these people learned.

Can’t agree more…. as a Chinese Malaysian
Nasi lemak Malay style is the best !!!!!!
Sokay if campur2, sure the nasi lemak lives in harmony inside your tummy 😂

I only need sambal, thin omelette , ikan bilis n some kacang in my nasi lemak

This is an amazing video about nasi lemak and its varieties. Banging video!
Yummy 😋 But I agree with Ichang, the standard nasi lemak is the best 😁 no need too much lauk campur2 😆
