  • I wanted to replace my aging and pretty rough tailstock die holder. This is the story of how and why.

    For tapers too short to eject from the tailstock. Put a ball bearing in first. After ejecting, the ball just comes rolling out. I keep one on a magnet on the tailstock.

    An adjustable screw at the end of the taper on the old holder would have sufficed.

      Yes it would but after years of pulling it out of the tailstock with pliers its as rough as a bears bum!

      Thanks Matt, point taken!
      That's the problem with spending so many years in broadcast if its dead air cover it with music!
      I will be a bit more minimal in the future.
