    Just finished watching the whole video. I don't think you missed one hair on the Bobcat. That's so remarkable what can be done with the burner. That's why it looks so realistic and beautifully done. It was very helpful showing us exactly how you did it,and talking us through it. Thank you Brenda,great job.

      Hi Rick,
      Sounds like it's time to get that burner out and start creating pyrography artwork! Afterall, pyrography is a fantastic medium to work in, but some might say I'm a bit biased on the subject.
      Your photography hobby (assuming it's a hobby) is a great way to get some extra value out of your photos. The big problem might be deciding which hobby to spend your time on. :)
      Happy burning!

      the zigzag stroke is rather useful to create fur, weathered old wood, distant mountains, and distant pine trees. The more I play around with pyrography I find more uses for this burn method. Plus it is a LOT quicker than burning individual lines. :)

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  2 года назад

      Hi Jane,
      I prefer to set my heat temp to get a medium to dark tan burn result, and then I leave it alone. From there I rely on hand speed and reburning to get different colors or tonal values. The exception to this is when I'm working on a really dark area that is fairly large. Then I will increase the heat because to speed up the burning process.

    This looks amazing Brenda! I’m a sucker for big cats anyway but you did a really great job of this one 😻 I watched about 10 minutes worth and I will watch the rest when I sit down to work and on something of my own I feel like even though I don’t use this medium obviously the technique seems to be quite similar at least for most parts so whether you use pyrography or something else you can still learn a lot from this 😃
    Did you have to voice over the whole hour for this? 🙉

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Luke,
      I will actually be surprised if anyone watches the whole thing. I'll be more surprised if I get asked for "longer" tutorials. :)
      There is a LOT of overlap between different mediums. I just don't use color, or at least not very often.
      Yes, I did voice over on almost the entire thing. There are a few 20-30 seconds of silence, but the rest is me babbling. I do know how to have fun and put out an entertaining video. :)

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  4 года назад

      Hi Cyril,
      thank you for the comment. I like to think that it's not that difficult to do, but maybe I'm biased. :)
      Sucks your hands aren't as steady anymore. That might actually help with the zigzag burn stroke method I use to create fur. As for the pen nib, any nib with a thin edge would work. The realism comes from applying many layers of "fur" to build up the depth of color and texture.
      Thank you again for the wonderful comment. Many wishes for a Happy New Year filled with happiness to you and your family!

    Well, i must say that Bobcat art is amazing. I am not sure if i have asked you already, but what is your art subject? What do you like, prefer, to draw ? You have created works from quite a few different subjects i have noticed. ( I think it might be birds.)
    You really do put a lot of work into your art, and it shows in the final piece. I have enjoyed watching this bobcat art video and drank my coffee, i am now contented, thank you for posting another wonderful video Brenda ( Q O P ) :))

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Dino King,
      The bobcat was a lot of fun. Big cats, especially leopards, are my favorite subject, but I try to only use reference photos that either I or my hubby have taken. I don't have any big cats roaming my backyard unless I want to count the neighbors obese tabby cat. Birds, on the other hand, are almost always in my backyard, so they make for easy subject.
      I do find that if something has a lot texture in it then I find it appealing. I did an old truck only because of all of the different textures. I couldn't tell you a thing about the truck like the model, year, etc and what's more is that I could care less. I just found it interesting because of the textures and contrast of lights & shadows.

      Ciao.
      La marca di carbone bianco del General che uso non è disponibile in diversi livelli di durezza come fa il carbone normale. La matita è quasi come il gesso.

    What kind of wood do you use and where do you buy it? I just love your work.

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy

      Hi Constance,
      thank you and great question. I'm planning on creating a video to explain just that, but not sure when I'll have time.
      To answer your question, it depends on the wood. I prefer basswood, and that I get at an exotic wood store (google that to see what's near you). I also burn on maple and poplar, which I can purchase at the exotic wood store or home improvement stores (Home Depot / Lowe's). The difference between the exotic and home improvement store is cost and roughness. Lumber from the home improvement store doesn't need as much work to get it ready to burn on, but it costs more. Lastly I burn on plywood - this includes die-cut ornaments, sheets, and panel or cradleboards. The sheets would be at lumber and/or exotic store. The others are found online and at craft stores. Hope that helps.

    wondering if i missed it? what is your preferred wood? ive been learning on scrap pieces of pine but wanted to get to a better medium. thank you

      @PyrographyMadeEasy  4 года назад

      Hi Jim,
      I don't blame you for wanting to move away from pine. That is a wood I don't like burning on as it has too much resin and has oozed on me.
      I do a lot of burning on birch plywood as it is inexpensive, readily available, and can be cut to large sizes if needed. My preferred wood is basswood which, depending on the country, is also called European Linden, linden, and lime. It is not always available at the store, so I also burn on maple and poplar. Hope that helps.

    Scusi l'ignoranza ma è da poco che lo faccio perchè ho sempre usato un'altra tipo di pirografo ma per cortesia mi può spiegare il significato di coltello e altre parti della punta ?grazie così capisco meglio , lei spiega molto bene i vari passaggi ,dare il senso del pelo reale con lei è molto più semplice

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  3 года назад

      Il coltello non è la punta di una penna pirografica. Invece è un coltello Exacto che uso per rimuovere la grafite che è stata spinta sul fondo di una bruciatura.
      Non sono sicuro di quali siano le altre parti del suggerimento su cui stai chiedendo.

    Brenda could you tell me if there are tool numbers of your pens? my pen tips seem to be larger to what you are using. thanks carrie

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  5 лет назад

      Hi Carrie,
      I'm not aware of any tool numbers. Instead Colwood seems to use a letter to identify their pen tips. I know that I use one or two different shaders in this video. I almost always use the J shader which is also called a tight round J shader, and it is one of the smaller shaders that Colwood makes. For the dark background I probably used the E spade shader, and it is one of the largest shaders. Keep in mind that ANY shader will work. The only difference between this is the size of the lines they tend to create when you keep your hand movement identical. By that I mean that if I'm burning a zigzag stroke and I keep my hand moving the same distance (up/down) when creating them, the J shader will produce shorter lines than the E shader will. By adjusting how much I move my hand, I can produce the same burn length with either shader. I hope that makes sense and helps.
      Brenda

    This is really awesome, but I noticed a mistake. You didn't define the back of the right ear that is furthest away from us. In the reference photo, you can see the very faint line of the back of the cat's ear reaching from the tip to it's head, but you don't have that in your pyrography drawing. Other than that, your teaching is on point and this tutorial is very enjoyable. I really do love your teaching style. I just thought to mention what I noticed in this video.

      Hi. Thanks for the comment and in depth observation.
      I'll consider the artwork a success if that was the only problem found since I thought there were considerably more problems. Heck, the one you pointed out wasn't even on my list. :)
      Have a great rest of the week.

    In Belgium I cannot find white charcoal pencils...is a chalk pencil ok please?

    • @PyrographyMadeEasy
      @PyrographyMadeEasy  4 года назад

      Hi Inge,
      great question! I have researched this subject several times and can't ever find out what exactly white charcoal is. There are several artist who claim that white charcoal and chalk are the same thing. Try the chalk pencil on a piece of scrap wood first. I recommend this because I had bought a colored chalk pencil once thinking it might be easier to see, but I couldn't get the color to erase completely from the wood.

      Hi Lawrence.
      I don't see why it wouldn't. I just can't tell you which pen tip would be best to use to get similar types of results.
      Minisa Pyrography uses the Versacraft burner by walnut hollow. She creates very realistic animals, so I would recommend checking out her channel to see which pen tips she uses and how. Here's a link to her channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCmD-U5CYsIWx2OPODsxETwg
