I did. It's fun. Riding with 2000$ worth of gear on your hands, knowing that at any time you can fall, and you have something that's even ugly for paperweight. Yeah...
That's hands-down the best part about being a photographer. When people see the camera, they put on such great smiles. They bring out the best versions of themselves because they want that to be captured, and it's a joy to be a part of even among complete strangers.
The fact that you went out of your way to take pictures for them, for free, and potentially missed the shots you went out there to get, is just great. We need more people like you.
This is probably my favorite part about street photography. I did professional for years before I finally got burnt out. Promised myself to not turn something I love into a job to keep it from sucking the life out of it. People are different, but that's how I prefer it. When I returned to photography, I started hitting the streets of every city I travelled to, and it's people like the group in the video that breathes life back into my hobby and keeps me going. And to see the joy and smile on everyone's faces when they see the results, you can't help but feel the same way. I'll never charge for the photos. Their smile is enough
I mean, part of street photography is natural interactions with people! It's not that everyone has to be charged because someone used a pro setup with them
Some people get mad at this, but having like 5 spontaneous shots and give to people that are nice and interact probably wanna make them call you if they need a photographer, and the best part, you make their day :)
@@emmw7794 True but he’s making their day, you can see the smile on their faces. This guy obviously isn’t in it for the money alone, he loves what he does, and him making the choice to take other’s happiness over his is amazing.
@@user-cd8lh5ql1i Oh yeah and that’s true, i just wanted to point out this guy stopped just to take pictures with them and took time out of his day to make them all happy! That’s my favorite part of street photography, anything can happen.
That group of friends getting so excited just made me just as happy, if not more. Love to see good reactions from people rather than the "WHY ARE YOU TAKING PICTURES OF ME" kind of people.
@@kisame225 Idk about law in the US, but in Switzerland you are not allowed to take close up photos of people, even in public. Only if the people "belong to the background". Which was clearly not the case in some photos.
85mm to 400mm focal range is great for street photography with people as subjects. Although not as discrete with a huge 400mm, it feels less intrusive as you can be far away. Of course, an open area environment also plays a big part in using this focal range.
I used to do a lot of street photography before having a child, and anyone who uses a telephoto lens can relate to when you're trying to get a shot and literally have to run 20-30 feet back to get what you want in frame lol The human interaction really makes it amazing, because often you don't expect too many people to actually interact with you. They'll see you shooting either move out of the way (awesome people) walk through the shoot, or just kind of look and go on about their day. It's one of the few professions where you can be an introvert, but have those extrovert interactions and be comfortable. Loved seeing this!
yeah, ppl just holding their walking pace for a few seconds, asking if you got the shot you wanted and then continue their walk is realy nice. Did some portraits with 600mm for fun, and people just walking wide around the line of sight not knowing the 600mm is very low degree of vision so they could literally walk 1m next to the line of me and subject and be out of frame :P
I know everyone shoots wide for street photography like 28mm or so. But I have always loved the compression long telephotos lenses create. They give photos a totally different look. I like shooting with my Fuji 100-40mm.
Got a question for you, how do you think he's dialling in focus here? I couldn't him him moving an autofocus point around. Is he just focusing manually?
@@Jefferson-ly5qe most of photographers use oldschool center focusing and then you move with camera with half-pressed trigger, that's the easiest and fastest way how to focus without playing with some stupid touch screens, but maybe he was just lucky and AF focused on correct objects in some cases and he used only these pictures
The thing i love about telelenses, is that you do not need an f2.8 for great backgroudn blures. An f4 or 5.6 also is enough, and not so expensive. Great Video!
No, no, no! I'm sure your images are great. We're too critical of ourselves. Remember: one person's shit is another person's... actually, it's still shit, admittedly, but if you'd randomly filmed your shit like these guys and uploaded it they'd probably be thinking the same as you. Remember RAPping? (Random Acts of Photography) when digital cameras first came out? You just randomly takes photos as you go about your day and don't even look at what you're capturing (such as when you're riding a bike or on a bus or on holiday or whatever) and then look back through them: you find lots of cool photos becuase you didn't conciously try to take good ones. You're great. Maybe take a photo of your shit and you may be surprised at its abstract beauty (expecially if you have a high fibre diet). Hugs from Australia.

You package that entire feeling I get, into your videos somehow. None of my friends are into photography, so it's nice to see someone sharing their experiences and seeing so many parallels (not including your INSANE talent level!).
