Hey Mr C thanks for your videos, every time I'm about to buy yet another ATC I know you'll have something on every model. Today all being well I'm bringing home a 1984 200X..
Nice build! Looks great! I owned two 84 200Xs and a 86 250R.... I had alot of fun on them. Such great rides for So Cal, snow, forests, deserts, dunes! Always a MC guy and the ATCs took up alot of garage space, so eventually sold them all. Wish I had them these days. The 200Xs were anvils and I beat on them hard. I really liked the kickstarter revision on the later 200Xs. They didnt swing down below the bike to start like the earlier gens and soaked boots in the streams.
@@Mrcbuilds Haha, yeah. Always looking for the right one to pop up.. Too bad the BS killed them off... They were like everything else in life you needed some skills and common sense to use them. Unfortunately ATCs attracted the goons, drinkers, unsupervised kids, tandem riders and gearless.... People who had no business riding bicycles buying ATCs and blaming the bikes for their dumb.... Of course the government needed to get involved LOL.... Ahhhh the 80s, last decade America was America....
A sharp looking rig, can't wait for those boloney rear tires to disappear. Great stuff as always. As a point of interest, my dx225 has no reverse. Since it seems to be an "I'll correct you day" I'm going back a few weeks when someone was looking for the equivalent Honda for their Yamaha. Thanks again for your work and keeping the faith.
I love you videos man, your an inspiration. I’m 16 and getting into Honda 3 wheelers. I have a 250es and a 1980 185. I love them both but wanting something more and looking for a 250r. I think I found one and hopefully it goes well and I get my 250r
Hey man your likely 17 now but I’m 16 and just now getting into 3 wheelers as well I’ve been trying to find a 250r as well my father had one but fell on hard times and sold it I miss it everyday I hope you have found you one and I will find mine good luck 👍🏼
First off, I love the channel! I do have a question though, are you sure it’s an 85? The front forks below the fork boots on an 85 were aluminum or aluminum colored not black and the fork boots were blue. 83-84 had black, also the rear fender decals look to be 84 if my memory serves me correctly. I hope this isn’t coming across in the wrong way because that’s not my intention. I just had my 84 out today for some love, I changed the oil in it and gave it a bath. Oh, I adjusted the cam chain also, nice and quiet now. Again I love the channel and always look forward to more Atc videos!
@@Mrcbuilds it’s all good! I almost didn’t comment in fear of starting stuff or sounding like a know it all. I’ve been a Honda Atc nut my whole life. I rebuilt my 84 X from the ground up and would love to do another one someday. Thanks for the awesome channel and all the info. I think you have one of the best Honda Atc channels on RUclips!
I was thinking the same about the year , it looks like an 84 with a 85 tank . I had an 84 and my father had an 85 back when they were new . I thought they had a vin sticker on the upper frame by the gas tank that had the model year on them .
If you buy you a gallon can of carb cleaner at the part store it has a basket in it for small parts. Nice I use mine in my parts cleaner. It sets in the basket that came with the parts cleaner.
I’m a real big fan of you mr mrcbuilds!! Love watching your knowledgeable videos. Do you know where I can buy a 350x 85 or 86 doesn’t matter. And the condition of bike doesn’t matter either
Hi Alexis, that's a harder trike to find than most. It took me 2 years to find one and I just found another. The best places I ha e found it talk 3 wheelers to everyone you meet, you will be surprise who has one in the barn. Place want ads for 3 wheelers. Set up notifications on CL and FB for 3 wheelers, join 350x groups on FB and 3wheelerworld.com. you will find one faster than I did, but be ready dont place ads and such until you are ready to make the purchase, cause you will have to act fast. Lol thanks for watching. Please like share and subscribe.
Hi, I just wanted to say that I believe some of the early 80s XR200Rs have that same carburetor and manifold as I recognize the choke and drain plug on my 1983 XR200R from cleaning it.
You have awesome content, I have a question, I’m restoring a ‘84 200x and the rear brake disc is slightly cupped about 1/8” from being flat. Is this normal or should it be flat? Thanks Al
Good luck the gearset show up from time to time on ebay, keep in mind the 86/87 gearset is differenr and its not the 2 gears on the outside of the case but the 2 inside, the cases must be split.
I need some help with my 1984 honda atc 200es big red I need help with the sub transmission case I had to buy a new one and I need help with putting all the gears back in properly...thanks
That can be a chore, bet bet get the free manual follow the diagram at the beginning of the transmission chapter, lay out your parts in order on a towel, then place them in the housing
@@Mrcbuilds I haven't seen any videos yet on this.....but where can I find a really good diagram for the job...I want to do it right I just pick up this big red from the original owner and it is super nice
I have to look again, but I'm pretty sure the 200x was a 24mm carb and the 200s was a 22mm.. the xr bike was 26, same bolt distance it was a common upgrade back then

A 250r and 350x are plenty fast. They will hang with any modern quad. Good luck! Thanks for watching

Those pins on float came out nice. You care about rebuild that's cool man I like. 👍
Thanks 👍 Tanner.
Like the new segment! Never been on a 200x, All I had was 200 hard tails. Maybe one day I can find one to mess with, good video brother.
You should! same power, better handling and stopping. Pat send me a pic of your trike on FB or Instagram and I will get it in a video.

The disc should be flat. I have never noticed a cup in the OE disc. That would cause the pads to not sit flush and have very poor braking
I have a blue seat an Cobra Exhaust monster lol
I just got an 85 but the kicker slips so I gotta replace the rachet gears and spring

Sounds like a little exhaust leak or could that timing chain
Your correct, timing chain is loose, valves are ticking, I had to loosen them, they were to tight and hanging open. thanks for watching.

I wasn't certain, I'm sure you're right.
@@Mrcbuilds I could be wrong too ill check my redbooks tonight
I use to have 1983 200x
Awe the first year for the 200x. Solid machine.
What solution do you use in your parts cleaner when sonic cleaning carbs and carb jets?
I have tried many different but I keep coming back to industrial simple green, it does not smell funny when you heat it.
Your shock spring is the wrong color for ‘85. I think you have an ‘84 dude.
Good eye, yes its is an 84. I completely over looked the shock spring and lower front fork color.
I wanna do what u do
Go for it!
Do youtubers get paid more if we watch the ads?
No, if there skippable than feel free to skip them! Thanks for asking.
Painted cdi never seen that.
