- Known for voicing some of the most prominent residents of Springfield in The Simpsons (Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Mr. Burns), Harry Shearer joins Rob for a chat this week! The actor, comedian and musician talks about his obsession with radio and TV as a child, getting his first job in showbiz with Jack Benny, and working with Looney Tunes voice actor Mel Blanc. They also discuss the importance of music and rhythm in comedy, the time Harry joined Rob on WILTY?, and how Ricky Gervais used This Is Spinal Tap as inspiration for the creation of The Office.

I love a lot of Rob Brydon's work. I think he can be better in this interview series by toning down his reaction shots. They are clearly not in real time and he is looking a little too engaged and sparkly for the camera. Rob please back it off a titch and let us love you in a more realistic interview situation. You are great at that.
I very much doubt they're recorded after the fact, Rob is just a naturally physically expressive person who hams it up when he's excited and engaged. Just look at his setup. He's there on his own, with just a single producer working remotely. There's no way he's recording extra takes while listening to the playback. This is very different to the studio environment for a TV panel show with producers calling for extra takes.
But The Simpsons HAS been awful for DECADES now. It's painful.
I'm sorry but Spinal Tap is an awful film.
