Fantastic. My sister who is a trained actress met Kenneth Branagh and said he is the sweetest most down to earth guy, devoid of any airs and graces, totally humble and chatty...just as he is here...she liked him immesnsely. Two good guys here...no question.
I always though old Kenneth was a bit pompous but bugger me he's actually a thoroughly decent chap and comes across very well , I owe you an apology Mr Brannagh , this is the beauty of these longer format interviews , can we have David Mitchell next ?
I love these videos, so different from talk show interviews. It's more like I'm sitting at the table next to 2 friends catching up and reliving great memories.
@@Stantheman848 I thought it was great. I imagine it's a tough job, with such limited locations. Or maybe it's easier, im not a filmmaker so I don't know. I think he was was very good as poirot ; Albert finney was amazing however. Many hate his performance, I'm aware.

Pure enjoyment! These are not really interviews, just friends chatting, and catching up. There are no nerves, or hesitant moments, which make them easy to listen too. Also liking the mustard trousers with the amazing blue shirt Rob, nice combination!
Kenneth Branagh has done more for Shakespeare than any other living person. He took the intimidation factor out of it for me when I was 12 and saw his version of Othello on the movie screen. I was blown away
I can’t imagine how you can come to that conclusion about a person that you’ve never met or spent any time with. My knowledge of him is limited to the film industry. And in that area I believe he’s a genius. It seems some people can’t get their head out of politics Long enough to just enjoy life.
@@thedingo8833 Well neither have you met him or spent anytime with him so right away your commented is negated. You are also correct that your knowledge is limited. Do your research. I have. Tara

An absolute joy. A consummate professional and a humble man in spite of all his great achievements. Sir Kenneth Branagh not so bad either. We have got to figure out a way to get Rob Brydon's interviews in front of a wider audience in the US. A total fan of both great gents.
Wonderful Kenneth Branagh -- I so enjoyed this! As an actor myself, it's fabulous to hear actors talking about the craft, especially when all our theatres and pubs are closed, so there's no gathering at the pub afterwards to discuss everything that went wrong in the show. I was wondering which farce they were talking about, and will have to look it up. Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to live without "ROB BRYDON" if this comes to an end at the end of COVID! Please don't let it come to an end...
This was a wonderful interview! Rob, you are a brilliant interviewer. You bring out stories from your guests that they have never or rarely shared before. Thank you for doing this.
I saw these 2 in a comedy play a couple of years ago and it was the funniest comedy I have ever seen , they were so good together and had great comedic timing !
I know most wax lyrical about his Shakespeare but for me his absolute best work was in wallander. Yes it was well received but not sure his actual acting in that was given the recognition it deserved.
Absolutely brilliant! I was lucky enough to see The Painkiller in Belfast with both of them, around 3 or 4 times in a row in a couple of days at the end of the run. They were fantastic and made all the audience laugh like crazy! About that last story about Ivanov, that didn't happen when I saw it, haha!
What do you mean 'final episode of series 2'?!!! Thank you for sharing these great conversations with us, Mr Brydon. Any idea when series 3 will start?
Branagh was filming in Merthyr- maybe 98. The theory of flight, very good film. He filmed some scenes in Cyfartha park. Thing is, I was playing tennis in the background (never spoke to crew). So is that me playing tennis, or is that me playing a character who is playing tennis in the world if the film. So, did I cease to exist whist filmed and become a chsracter? And can I now create a character name retrospectively?
I was there that day. Sitting on the benches in the terrace. He walked past me and smiled. I was not expecting the man to be there. I had seen him and Emma Thompson in look back in anger at the lyric theatre in about 87 or 88. Both brilliant. They got married the day after. By this point he was Helena BC. Who also walked past me that day. Almost fell of my bench. The Theory of Flight. Rubbish film but what a day that was at my old school taking in the sunshine. June 1998 I think.

The greatest living Shakespeare actor. A man of profound, faustian talent; deep emotional depths. And such a cute smile.

The more I see and learn of Kenneth Branagh, the more he rises in my estimation. He seems like a great guy.
He’s an immense human. Makes everyone around him feel equal and respected.
Sometimes it's easy with "chuckles" to forget how supremely accomplished he is mostly due to him seeming so grounded and approachable.

I didn't care for his remake of Murder on the Orient Express.
Neither did I, but his Shakespeare adaptations are delightful.
