  • This is the first performance ever by Siouxsie and the Banshees (Siouxsie Sioux, Steven Severin, Marco Pirroni and Sid Vicious) at the 100 Club Punk Festival on September 20, 1976. The 24-minute setlist consisted of a punk rendition of 'The Lord's Prayer' which included parts of 'Deutschland, Deutschland über Alles', 'Knocking on Heaven’s Door', 'Twist and Shout', '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' and 'Smoke on the Water'. They were billed as "Suzie and the Banshees".

I was there!!! It was very raw, and exciting and thrilling! I saw so many of the early punk bands, and many of them went on to make great records, including Siouxsie and the Banshees!!!!

Was just talking to a mate in work today about this. This was 46 years ago yesterday. Both avid Punk and the Pistols fans. We discussed the idea of "Wish I had a time machine to go back to September 1976 at the 100 Club, I'd fucking stay there, a one way ticket with no return type deal". It looks like the guy at the front has a tape recorder doing the old 70's bootlegging. Maybe this is the recording copied to death?? God bless the chaos of it all. And if that's really Sid, then he's keeping a beat on those drums. Historic upload, thanks for this just because it actually exists.

Punks were wearing swastikas not beacause they were raciscts, but because of its shock-value.....It was a part of their attitude, that actually was non-political. After the infancy of punk they had to adopt a more mature style and approach: no accident that Metal Postcard is an anti-nazi song with a John Heartfield collage on the cover....Their first single, Hong Kong Garden was written because she and her friends were very upset when skinheads attacked a Chinese Takeaway (called Hong Kong Garden) regularly where they used to eat, and told the skinheads to go off...not to mention the song Israel etc. How would she be racist? Better think it over.......

It pains me to know that scenes like Punk Rock will never happen again. The youth today dont want to be apart of anything unless they're playing Call of Duty and can talk to there friends without leaving the room. I would give anything to go back and be apart of something real and that actually said something. The Banshee's are as iconic in the music world as anybody. Especially Siouxsie.
