Many rock bands changed their image when the punk movement took off. Only one example judas priest dressed like hippies in the early 70s. Later on they wore leather and studs with more aggressive music

To say this was 1976 when the norm was long hair and flares this would have been a real culture shock with this spiky haired snotty voiced singer who looked at every prog rock and heavy rock band that came before with sneering contempt.Brilliant!
It was mate, I was there, I loved Floyd and Yes but this lot blew me away. I still listened to Floyd and Yes much to the chagrin of my contemporaries who went all out punk and burned their Prog collection!
Many rock bands changed their image when the punk movement took off. Only one example judas priest dressed like hippies in the early 70s. Later on they wore leather and studs with more aggressive music
John Lydon was into the Van Der Graaf Generator who were very much a prog band and Paul Cook was actually a secret Genesis fan.

Sex pistols was the best punk band and anarchy in the UK is my favourite track followed by my way absolutely brilliant band in the day and I still play their music today and love it just the same never gets boring you can't beat it
