Incredible work... very detailed and coherent in the presentation of the different modes. But one tip I think might be useful is that the S21 Ultra EXYNOS is consistently generating better photos in terms of detail, white balance and HDR... Samsung is working hard on its chipset balance... I'm saying that because in other comparisons the dispute is easier to resolve with Exynos... in this one I believe you'll agree with me that the S21 was better in HDR and white balance... in details I won't say it anymore, it depends on the scenario... but for its versatility the S21 is ahead overall... but my tip is to keep an eye on Exynos... the scale has tipped in his favor recently. In addition, your work is stupendous... your family is beautiful... God bless you and success in the projects. Hug!
Um, you can have extra saturation without being oversaturated so that's a dumb comment. Generally both of these phones have very natural colours with healthy doses of saturation. Also, he literally said that we should keep the same energy for iPhone as we did for Samsung.
Great comparison! What do you think about camera behaviour concerning flares? Normal optical phenomenon which seems to be more pronounced on iPhone. Can you compare this feature? Thanks
Thank you for this great comparison. Have not used an iPhone for my personal phone and still holding onto my 4+ year old OnePlus 5T. Pre-ordered and then cancelled the Pixel 6 Pro (video was lack-luster), thinking about switching to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, but will hold off a little longer for the S22 Ultra or perhaps the OnePlus 10 Pro in 2022.

At 3:47 when you mentioned detail, I'm not sure if that's resolved detail or just an after affect of high contrast and sharpening+increased structure, so labeled as better in detail might be misconcieved by some viewers as actually having better resolved details. So maybe that can be clarified, otherwise great video.
Great video as usual. iPhone mic seems better than the S21 but I prefer the shots on the Samsung on the whole, especially the night shots, they look more natural to me.
Some of the things you talked about can simply be adjusted in the Samsung's cam settings.. Increase brightness, touch the contrast, this things are simple. Saturation, all this stuff you'd find with settings. The issue is, most people who complain about this stuff have never really taken the time to study the ability of this phones..
I'm watching this video from my 12pro, I haven't upgraded because I've seen so much greatness from the Galaxy S21 Ultra that with only a few months left to go, I wanna wait to see what the Galaxy S22 brings. Truth be told I'm really thinking about switching to android and if S22 wasn't my 1st choice then I would've switched to the S21 Ultra already. I'll buy a 13 Pro Max at a later date but it's sad that I just wanna do more with my phone that Apple doesn't allow me to do. Mainly sofewares is what's really ticking me off about my iPhone. I want applications that can be downloaded via web and to feel in control of my own device.
Despite the iphone's more detailed images I overall prefer the S21U pictures because of more natural colours and wider dynamic range. Iphone is completely ruining the shadowy areas
@@ilyasclarkson2556 You sacrifice some dynamic range to do that. You can also bring out details similar to iPhone by using "texture" or "clarity" sliders in lightroom mobile. If you like to edit, then a flatter image is preferred.

@10:50, what if you used the Samsung pro mode to match the iPhone settings… will you still get the ISO noise?, looking at getting a newish phone and torn between the S21 ultra or iPhone, since a lot of my photos are also taken in low light/evening/night
Great video. Love how in-depth you go. S21 Ultra continues to be an amazing camera; still arguably the best if you consider every lens and every feature. But 13 Pro Max edges it out in FANTASTIC low-light performance, and still being the video king (though the difference between the two in video performance IS smaller than ever, so kudos to Samsung there). Also unfortunate to think about how Samsung has had Portrait Video for years and is still much worse than the iPhone's first attempt, for one main reason: all it does is cut out the individual. It's not bad at that, but it's not doing anything to emulate depth and DSLR-like aesthetics like the iPhone is trying to do. It's not great on iPhone, don't get me wrong. But Samsung definitely has more work to do than Apple. Samsung's front-facing portrait video is actually quite good, though, because its deficiencies are not nearly as clear in the style of video that comes from front-facing cameras (person right in the middle of the frame, no focus roll-off to worry about from wider shots, etc.).
The saturated colors have always looked better in my opinion. That's also the option of the majority. So even though they're exaggerated on the iPhone they look much more pleasing to the eye.

Wait, the Galaxy can't do night mode 3x portrait either? This is HUGELY disappointing to me. Also something I noticed is that the Galaxy handles highlight details better in night mode, while the the iPhone often overexposes highlights. Your camera comparisons are AMAZING, seriously! Keep up with the awesome work 👏
They both need to work on overall quality of detail that they can capture besides purely cranking the mp resolution up. Another annoying thing is the true DoF not faked processing based bokeh - yes, this is a hardware thing according to sensor size - more often they have adequate sensor sizes just mishandled by processing with horrible edge fringing for close ups. I know they tried to remedy this with macro shots but it's not enough.
Thanks for your hard work, interesting and comprehensive. My view, Apple reigns at videography, but both Top 5 in photography. Subjective choices aside, neither will disappoint.
@@gromenteal2133 daytime video both are neck in neck too, in fact Samsung have better colors. And night video is only where the iPhone is clearly better. Photos goes back and forth with night mood. Longer exposure is more chance of motion blur when objects or people are moving. Especially when indoors and taking pictures of your kids or pets , it’s really frustrating. I have both phones to test and iPhone gives sharper image but the S21U gives a more overall pleasing image.
That 10x zoom is amazing for sports cause I can actually capture what's happening up close when when I'm on the other side of the field. Freaking amazing
Interesting... Can you do a comparison using Samsung's Pro Photo and Video Modes? From what I have seen, many RUclips reviewers don't focus on using Samsung S21 Ultra's Pro Modes. I would imagine that folks who know how to tweak settings in Pro Mode would go for the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra over the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Sure, I get that a lot of people shoot on Auto, but I reckon people would prefer to take time and get the best shots through using Pro Mode. Maybe people can learn how to take better photos by experimenting with Pro Modes. What do you reckon?
Danny, I hope you elevate the caption a bit so that it is slightly above when we zoom in to your 2:1 videos. The corners of 2:1 aspect ratio is kinda annoying in recent iPhones since these already reach the curve part of iPhone screens.

Thats a pretty good comparison. I am disappointed too with the s21 Ultra's noise reduction. Mine does that too but I have noticed when I tryed to take a night picture with 108mp mode the noise was gone. It's very strange. Try it out
HDR tends to add more noise and they add more noise reduction. The 108mp mode may not have as much HDR and so your noise will be hidden especially if darker areas are darker.
