  • Here is a key little insight on how Mike Tyson went about approaching his mental preparation coming into hes fights. Listen to when the way he says, " We I Step In That Ring Im A God ". I think its a very powerful piece of film.

You know...they say some people have bad luck. That some people didn't get a good hand dealt in the game of life.
Mike Tyson...his whole life...had groups of people...GROUPS of people...trying to hold him down. To take from him, to make his life miserable, and to bring hurt to him. Whether it was people in the streets, or deceitful women, tragic deaths of his family, or money hungry men, Mike Tyson has had a tougher road to success than any of us can possibly fathom.
This man has had a wildly successful life considering how many people have tried to bring him down.
Mike Tyson is my fucking hero.

Ali fought with a broken jaw for 7 rounds, he could take a punch and deliver them right back. Tyson was notorious for gassing early, if Tyson didn't get him in the first 4 rds, Ali would take over because of his evasion, his mind games, his tricky fighting style and his stamina. Ali has also NEVER been knocked out so you'd be crazy to say Tyson would knock Ali out in those first few rounds.

Then at the very end when he knocks the guy out and the crowd is cheering and he says "I'm victorious. Mike Tyson. He lost to Douglas which came right after changing from his long time trainer and divorce of his wife.
He went 41-1 before losing 4 years of his prime, obviously when he came back he was not the same man.
Your clearly very young and don't want to look back at history but Tyson beat alot of real contenders: Trevor Berbick (31-4-1), Pinklon Thomas (29-1), Tony Tucker (34-0), Larry Holmes (48-2), Tony Tubs (24-1), Michael Spinks (31-0), Frank Bruno (32-2) and Donovan Ruddock (25-1-1)

Some of the "positive thinking" info that's out will have you thinking that you've messed up if you don't remain 100% confident in your goal outcomes. Besides becoming a boxing god Mike Tyson was also an amazing poet. The way he described how he would mentally prepare himself before every fight by allowing countless thoughts of fear and confidence to race full speed through his mind and heart while staring down the eyes of anyone foolish enough to challenge him first breaking their spirit then their body in the ring. Tyson will forever be my most favorite boxer of all time.

Great lesson from mike, intimidation can have a huge affect on a fighter. Mike tyson was unbeatable in his prime, untill he came up against busta douglas, who had no fear. This was due to his mother's death 23 days before the fight and he knocked mike tyson out. On the otherhand you can say mike tyson had his own problems but for me mike was one of the greatest heavy weight fighters ever, he had everything.
Its the issues behind boxing which had a negative effect on mike.

o0o5T3V3o0o Well I don't think buster douglas was too seriously hurt and was probably biding his time. If the count had gone faster I would guess that he'd get up faster too (maybe). If there were any advantages Douglas had it would be the huge reach.. One of the few fighters to make a reach advantage work on Tyson. I don't think he would have won in a rematch, but you have to give Douglas some props for pulling off a historic upset.

All the greats have been knocked down or out. Tyson wasn't just a one dimensional fighter. The split second that I could feel my opponent give in, I knew it was over for him.
