This was helpful. I’ve been scratching my head about a small block of natural regeneration pine-hardwood mix in a similar situation. Knowing it’s feasible to do the waist high cuts on the pines will save my back. Thanks!
Make sure you access all the free resources the govt provides for landowners. Talk to your local county forester with then state forestry agency. Talk to county agent with extension service. Talk to local USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service. They have funds to help landowner improve their property.
@bamabiologist2945 I got funded with NRCS to do improvements on my property I'm getting assistance with under brush herbicide application, fire break and mulching.....how would mulching between my pine rows affect my pines 10- 15 year old loblolly, I tried to get help with thinning but got persuaded not to do a pre commercial thin...got alot of pushback! I'm still going to thin the bad, small, etc pines on my stand I'm just if mulching the brush in-between the rows would I anyway hinder the growth of the pines!
Absolutely love the explanation thanks brother!!
