  • Getting back to property clean up, we have a lot of trees that need to be thinned out and limbed up. Mostly to lower the fire hazard but it also makes for a healthier forest and we can see the wildlife better when its done.

You mentioned using the LP pines as a decorative fence... How do you personally keep trees you use as fence posts from deteriorating from the ground contact? I have yet to find anything that lasts longer than 3-4 years. Or is that the life expectancy of the posts from fresh cut trees?

From what I have heard from neighbors the pine around here will last about 5 years when on the ground. I'm going to put a large rock under the bottom poll and stack them horizontally so that none of the wood is touching the ground. Hope this makes sense. Hopefully this makes the fence last longer. Never know tell you try. :)

Koality of Life Homestead - Ahhh ok. I thought you meant you were going to dig post holes and bury them like in a traditional fence. The ones buried in the ground are the ones I keep losing to rot. Be sure to post a video of your fence when you get it put up. Love to see it.
