Thank you so much, very useful i was trying to figure out how to install the rear dashcam on my 2022 430i grand coupe 😊 I chose not to hardwire the rear instead i used the cigarette volt in the rear, used an L shape usb and connected it to that, and fished it through. But this video helped to get a better look at the seal being removed.
An excellent tutorial. Two rather minor things I'd add: 1.) Fasten all three of the rear seat belts before loosening the seat bottom. This will help tremendously if any of the seat belt buckles need to be fed back through the seat cushion, when you reinstall the seat bottom. They are a very snug fit and the design gives you absolutely nothing to grab onto to pull/guide them trough the Seat Cushion Fabric. 2.) Pop the small plastic "Air Bag" tag (just like on the "A" Pillar) on the "C" pillar, and remove the Torx Screw. Then pull the "C" Pillar Trim back 2" - 3" from the top. Do not completely remove this cover. Doing this will allow you to feed the Rear Camera Cable between the (now loose) "C" Pillar Cover and the Body (metal), rather than running the cable between the weather Stripping and the "C" Pillar Cover, as is shown in the video.
@@FaRKle0079 Thx for your answer, I've installed my Kenwood dashcam straight forward, because of your great video. For who might be interested: I own a I4 edrive40 (G26) 2024 (EU), I connected wires in front fusebox to F27 for BATT+, F74 for ACC+ and I added a bolt for Ground- inside a hole in the chassis next to the fusebox. The metallic piece where the plastic cover is fixed.
Hey thank you so much for this! I dont think i have the knowledge, expertise or the confidence you do, but im going to dive into placing a front and rear dashcam thsi weekend in my g26 m440i. Just to be clear, although you opened the front fusebox, you never connected anything to it right? You just ran the cable down all the way to the back? And from the looks of it, you planted the rear camera under the break light? Also, would it be possible to run the wires from the front cam thriugh the headliner to the back? Thank you!
Hi. Thanks for your video. It’s nice and easy with your video to install hardwire dash cam for bmw i4 just to ask you the front fuse box for i4 is the same as I ix40 because I did my i4 dash cam but now I need to do my ix40 as well that would be appreciated if you can help me with that too. Thanks
Hi i need some help, i have an F3x 340i RWD, ive retrofitted the M3 LCA & TA. Currently running 437m wheels which i know are a little large for the Fx platform but trying to find a way to make it all work. Getting slight scrubbing on the front arch liner due to caster, if i buy aftermarket caster adjustable bushes for the M3 LCA kit will i be able to reduce the caster to re centralise my wheels?
@@trevortrinh5746 I used the rear fuse box since I have a dashcam battery. If I wasn't using one of those, I'd feed from the front fuse box. There's not really a good place to store a battery up front.
Nice install. I noticed you did not disconnect the High Voltage battery in the rear. But did you disconnect the 12V battery under the hood prior to doing this install?
There's no need to disconnect the high voltage system or 12V battery when doing these installs. You need the 12V system to probe which fuse leg is the hot side, and to determine which fuses are constant or accessory on.
Makes sense. I will be picking up an i4 M50 soon and during my research, mods such as this on the i4 has many “spooked” doing any type of electrical mods because of the HV battery. On a non-related note, looking forward to any content you may create regarding performance upgrades to the i4, especially suspension upgrades 😉. Keep up the great content!
So I got My i4 and was taking a look at my fuse box for a future dash cam install (using your video as a guide). I discovered that fuse 273, in the same row where you powered your dash cam on F265, also has ACC power going to it, but the fuse does not power anything (there is no output connection on the other side of the fuse in the fuse block). F265 should still work fine with the fuse tap setup as the seat heating it powers is not a “sensitive” electrical component, but since the F273 spot does not power anything (at least based on my car’s electrical configuration), it might be a better option for installing an accessory that needs ACC power. I may even buy the OEM pigtail to plug into the back of the fuse block for an “OEM” electrical install (i.e. not using a fuse tap) to be more stealthy, as long as I can find the part number….
hi I am trying to hardwire a Viofo A229pro to a i5 2025.. Battery wire is meant to go acording to the BMW cam PRO 3 to the fuse box (Alarm fuse) but the Yellow (ACC) my dealer is adament not to connect it to thh efue ,instead to a connector to the BDC unit... and non of the official BMW dealers are willing to install it as its a 3rd party product.. shame having 4 cameras in the car and had to install a dashcam for parking mode as am unable to use remote camera mode were I livw (CZ) due to piracy laws..annoying.. anyone here who ahs done this(wiring to the BDC?
Much better than installation is reverse of removal! Nice video.
Awesome video, this helped a TON. Thank you!
Thorough as always. Nice installation video. Thank you.

Hi @FarKle0079, thx for this great video. Quick question, regarding the front fuse box, is there a screw or something where we can connect the ground?
There's usually a grounding terminal/nut underneath the carpet liner in front of the passenger's feet. I'd look there if tapping into the front fuses.

Is there any reasons why you prefer the rear fuse box rather than the front?
