The entire OST is kick ass, it's so good that absolutely no other soundtrack can beat it. It's tense and fast, making the player go as fast as he can to reach the checkpoint before the clock reaches zero. It also pushes the sound chip to its limits.
Sensei SCHLAUCHI's arcade roll's going strong, it seems! one thing you forgot, tho: in certain parts of the world- the US included- this game's known as Top Speed (just in case anyone wants to load this babe into their MAME collection). this was the very first Taito game to run (pun intended...somewhat) on their proprietary Z1 board which allows for complex perspective tricks; the same board that ran games like Chase HQ among others. this was also made by the creator of Operations Wolf & Thunderbolt. I personally liked the sountrack tho this game and have been hunting it down for years not knowing it's name... and now I finally find it! thanx for this, W.O.L.!
Taito's Outrun. It would not surprise me if the concept of Chase H.Q. came into being as a direct result of this game. Graphically the 2 are very similar.
how did you get the engine sound working? did you have to download a sound sample for it to work? I've played this game on ARCADE32 0.206 recently but it doesn't work.
For a longplay, this was the shortest game i've ever seen.
There are plenty of shorter ones Doctor, look through the list !
The end game music is actually pretty kick ass

28 years ago gaming was harder and more fun!!!
I love 2D driving games + FM audio. Just can't get enough of this stuff :-)
The music is just great.
It is composed by my favorite composer, Masahiko "Mar." Takagi
Guitarist of ZUNTATA
Thank you Taito Memories on PS2, for having this arcade game on you.

4:33 *BEST PART.*
You are the bravest driver
Look like prototype of chase H.Q.
I saw that one in the 1989 movie The Wizard.
Fastest FC3S ever.
Good race man
What the, where are Ben and Maureen? What the hell is this?
They are playing bunnies.

kyoto moto is right
I don’t know but I really like this, it’s so Japanese. The music is insane!
it seems like it was an OutRun direct competitor.
Sooo... this is OutRun, only made by Taito and with the WORST engine sound of all time!!
that pos car can't even reach 150 km/h lol japan
USE NITRO
aka Top Speed
crap version of chase hq with the main objective removed
This is NOT fun at all. Crappy sound, heavily unrealistic sound for "engine", quiet background music.
I didn't watched more than 2 minutes.
That's close to half the game!
Less than a third but oh well
