A few hints for people playing this on Switch or Mame: Draft behind cars for a speed boost; you can hold it longer behind faster cars When steering, it is more recommended with analogue control, it is smoother and easier, just don't flick as sharp When your car's handling starts to drop, get to the pits before it gets worse, or it will render your car uncontrollable Between the Deluxe and Link cars, the AI cars perform differently when starting a race; watch them carefully Manual gives your car a slightly higher top speed; you'll only need to shift down to 5 at minimum if your an expert
Atari's I, Robot polygons were not shaded according to an actual light source but relative to each objects relative rotation. Virtua racing's polygons were actually lit by an genuine direct light source. In fact it is possible to observe that the light source in VR is pointing downward onto the scene. I believe Winning run from Namco had no lights either. So I believe Virtua racing to be the first to feature a consistently shaded and lit 3D scene in a game.
5:09 director chief programmer YU SUZUKI?! WHY wasnt this game included on his Game Works collection for Dreamcast?? I spent a pretty penny on it, and this game is just as sweet as i remember it. Would love to play it again!❤❤❤❤❤
@@PacGuy765 SEGA did recently saw a stunning increase of sales of Sega Ages games outside of Japan. That might set a stone for a possible Western release.
Good God, I remember being a little kid seeing these kind of graphics and going, "Whoa! This is Frikkin AMAZING!!!". Now they're kinda yikes with a strange, affectionate after taste of I miss my childhood.
Even in 2K19... it's still beautiful! ♥
Too shakey
@@BoshBargnaniorry if it’s really late to say it but I probs think it’s because they tried to simulate the game as if you’re in a car

So the pits _can_ be used. I always wondered.
I forgot how beautiful this game is.
Great skill, I'm still on automatic so. Switch version is awesome!
Looks fun af
視点切り替えスイッチが懐かしいね
This came out in 1992?? Arcade cabinets were on a whole other level from computers and consoles pre Dreamcast!
You're shocked by this? Daytona USA came out on the then bleeding-edge Model 2 hardware in August 1993. 1993!!!
According to the Switch Leaderboard, I am ranked 26th Worldwide with a time of 04”07”31

GET GOAL!
I played it on the Switch last week, it runs at a locked 60fps and they also fixed the pop-ups.
Medicint20 That's good to hear. Although it is already out in Japan, I know it will be ported elsewhere in the near future

Just like in real life, it's not the looks that matter, it's the sovl.
Y'know, the 3D graphics looks like they came from the Money for Nothing music video!
holy fuck this game looks fun

Camera needs some kind of shake filter
This is the PS2 version. The arcade never had that camera shake problem.
@@RedLP5000S PS2 version has updated graphics and probably a different engine too. This is MAME
@@RedLP5000S This is the Arcade version but it has never been emulated properly. It doesn't shake on the real hardware.
Question, what’s better, this or the original OutRun??
