Regarding your description, I clearly remember believing Blanka was a giant rip off of Amazon and was the kind of kid, believe it or not, that would be angered by such a thing.
For an early NES game, Pro Wrestling was pretty good. My friends and I had a ton of fun playing it back in the 80s. It doesn't hold up as well to many later wrestling games, but part of its charm is its jankiness! A winner is you!
God, the memories of this game! I used to play this with my older cousin whenever we had a chance. I specifically remember getting a laugh out of Star Man because one of his turnbuckle dives looked like he was praying, so we would always shout out "I PRAY!"
I used to play the heck out of this game a lot. I like using Starman and The Amazon the most. I had played with every character. Either I would drop kick to weaken the opponent or run to the ropes and drop kick. The Great Puma!!!
I still remember that music when I played this game at my aunt's house, all those years ago. Was fun trying to figure out what the heck to do and discover different moves as a kid.
I didn't know what wrestling game this was by name but once I heard that theme music, I was instantly transported back to my youth when we played this game non stop, 24/7!
I had this amazing classic as a kid!! even my mother loved this one, i can totally say it's the best NES wrestling game, no discussion here. Even today the Fire Pro Wrestling games have cameos from this, as the creator of both games it's the same guy.
Pro Wrestling was the best wresting game on the NES. It might not have Tecmo Wrestling's realistic television feel but it had the best gameplay and characters. A Winner Is You if you got to play this in the 1980s. A shame there was no sequel to this outstanding game.

An early black-box classic. Abobo’s Big Adventure did a great rendition of Pro Wrestling with the likes of the Ultimate Warrior, Rowdy Roddy Piper, The Undertaker, and Hulk Hogan lending their power to Abobo in applying the ultimate finisher to the Amazon (while also blasting the referee and cameraman to pieces). Great stuff!
The second match with Starman and the last match with King Puma are great tactic... beat the hell up outside the ring and before the countdown finishes, quickly enter back into the ring. Risky but brilliantly executed 😘
Never got to play this one, did all the black box sports games have the same title screen music? I've played alot of the black box baseball and it has the same title music
Oh hey, "Fire Prototype" :3 Seriously, from what I've heard, it seems as though one of the main people behind this game went on to develop the Fire Pro series after forming Human Entertainment.
@NintendoComplete, you beat The Great Puma the same way I would always defeat him. I could NEVER beat him by pin. For a time, I thought the programmers intentionally made that impossible.
King Slender makes mincemeat outta Great Puma after a few backbreakers then a once you can piledriver or brain buster him, he's very vulnerable to being pinned early.
How the hell is this one of the only good wrestling games of the entire pre-3D era? I used to think it would be cool if Pro Wrestler(s) had been a Smash Bros fighter where the gimmick is Starman, King Slender, and Amazon could be tagged in and out.
WWF Wrestlemania is also quite fun. …Well, at least the arcade and Mega Drive ports were. 32X port is half the framerate and SNES port is slowdown hell
Star man was hard to beat with the flip kick...NOSTALGIC
A WINNER IS YOU!
An absolute classic this game is the reason why i got an NES
I can't believe you defeated the great star man by count out. He deserves more respect than that🤣
Regarding your description, I clearly remember believing Blanka was a giant rip off of Amazon and was the kind of kid, believe it or not, that would be angered by such a thing.
OSW Review brought me here.

Starman was my boy, that flip kick of his was stupid OP
Let the children boogie!
Same here. I remember to always come from the up side of the screen and do somersault 😂
God, the memories of this game! I used to play this with my older cousin whenever we had a chance. I specifically remember getting a laugh out of Star Man because one of his turnbuckle dives looked like he was praying, so we would always shout out "I PRAY!"
Hell yeah! Still one of the greatest pro wrestling games ever made!
Yes this game was awesome, just if anyone was asking. Born in 78 and this is some good memories right eer
A winner is you for watching this playthrough.
This is surprisingly well done for a wrestling game on the NES.
I used to play the heck out of this game a lot. I like using Starman and The Amazon the most. I had played with every character. Either I would drop kick to weaken the opponent or run to the ropes and drop kick. The Great Puma!!!

What age?
Gotta love that 8-bit music.
There’s nothing like it.
After 40 year's I still toss this game in from time to time. You know? Cause a winner is I😁
*Years*

Ah yes. The age old rivalry between some kind of fishman and some guy with a blue star on his face.
I’ve had that character intro music in my head for years but couldn’t remember what it was from. Thank you I can die in peace.
"A winner doth beest thou!" - This game in its original Shakespearian English.
Pure 80’s Goodness!
That brain buster is deadly!
me and my little brother loved playing this! he found it very funny when the amazon guy ate the opponent 😂
LOVED this game.
Oh man. I remember missing the entire movie of Babe at the drive in just to play this in the snack bar on the Play Choice 10. Good times.
That's GOATED
@@familydog yeah, that is pretty cool. I can almost see it now.
I didnt even know this was in arcade form lol
I adore this game. Rented it a few times back in the day.
very good pro wrestling 😀

It was acceptable in the 80's 🎵
It was acceptable at the time
This was a nice game
I know this game. I did it when I was 12 years old.
Yes, 1986. Legend of Zelda was released in this year.
Legend has it that the referee stays on his stomach until the next match starts.
My friends and would play this all day back in the late 80s early 90s....fun game to play...
The back brain kick is the hardest hitting move in the game from what I remember
The back breaker was the move to cause the most damage
I remember cheesing this with Kin Corn Karn's jump kick. It was the only way I could beat it. Good Job my Friend.
Great comic heel character
His job was to get the faces over and he did his job well!
The worked nature of pro wrestling is so obvious, even in an 80's NES game
Well done!
Woooaah I remember playing this game.
I loved this game as a kid
Incredible ring psychology
You really have those roundhouse kicks down
After does the choke thing, he has like a crisis of conscience for a second, then is like nah, fuck that, and gives the middle finger to the crowd.
The second match with Starman and the last match with King Puma are great tactic... beat the hell up outside the ring and before the countdown finishes, quickly enter back into the ring. Risky but brilliantly executed 😘
One of the few VG to have the late Antonio Inoki live on the VG world (in this case Fighter Hayabusa)
It's a very fun game.
I played countless hours of this game when I was a kid
I miss this game so much.
Never got to play this one, did all the black box sports games have the same title screen music? I've played alot of the black box baseball and it has the same title music
The forgotten early NES sports game.
I did not know all these years you had to have 10 title defenses to complete the game, wonder if it is more difficult playing after that?
Starmans like mermaid man in spongebob with a starfish stuck on his face
I liked the Amazon.loved the piranha bite.
Oh hey, "Fire Prototype" :3
Seriously, from what I've heard, it seems as though one of the main people behind this game went on to develop the Fire Pro series after forming Human Entertainment.
You are correct, even some Fire Pro Wrestling games have cameos from the characters of PW.
I still play this on my Tablet Starman was the dude!!!
man that last match against king slender was an actual match! Nice play through even if you used that cheesy old ring out a lot.
The real winner is us
If you're like me and only knew Amazon from _Abobo's Big Adventure,_ this is a mind eff.
used to drive my friend nuts, Id do the head chomp endlessly hed start yelling lol
Star Man for Smash!
Cameraman for Smash!
I know Star Man looks like the Red Zeo Ranger
I love this game 😊
Giant Panther was the token brotha in the game.
It's hard to look at this game the same way after Abobo's big adventure 😏.
Yeah. Not even the nuclear piledriver kills The Amazon. The spikes in the stage does.
It was fun, obliterating the opponent so much two player that they literally just would lay there on the ground outside the ring
Why didn't they bring this back?
Yes!.....
Starman reminds me of the red Zeo Ranger, or OhRed as he’s known in Japan.
What the hell is that move when he has you in a headlock and starts doing something with his hand and then is tired right after?
Then he starts talking to his hands lmao 😅
Kin Korn Karn was OP asl.
1:03 The frame are funny, he’s stand then next frame he’s on the ground no falling motion 😅
Star man the best
"The Amazon" is a poor´s man version of COCO SAVAGE (from Mat Mania / Exciting Hour)
Needs more stab-with-fork action.
That sounds like Ring Rage
The game's title music is the same as "Baseball" and "Tennis".
Starman morphed into Mermaid Man
Amazon was one of the best heel wrestlers ever
Possible prototype for Ultimate Warrior and Blanka?
"Starman" looks like Pentagon and "The Amazon" looks like Atlantis from Kinnikuman.
Or the Red Zeo Ranger
Amazon vs Starman > every other wrestling rivalry
Blanka is a copy of The Amazon.
👍🏿

Yeah, there weren't many, but Slammasters and Tecmo Wrestling were also pretty good.
WWF Wrestlemania is also quite fun. …Well, at least the arcade and Mega Drive ports were.
32X port is half the framerate and SNES port is slowdown hell
@@solarflare9078 I don't know if I consider Slam Masters and WWF The Arcade Game wrestling games or fighting games
