Mr. Driver doesn't really need much info before he starts ramming into people's cars. Do you ever reckon Nancy ever ordered him to go after people she didn't like - like somebody who bullied her in school or an old ex? "Ian, the Pensylvania heartbreaker is fleeing in a Korean sedan. Over."
I sometimes felt Vibes of Bad Boys 1 with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence when I would play this game.... mostly because of the Porsche 911 Will was driving.
They did an amazing job with the sounds of this game. Really sounds like a 911 starting. Love the different tones of tire squeal, and the voices are great too.
I would love to see Hamster Corporation pick this up and put it on PS4 and Switch in the Arcade Archives collection. They've already got a bunch of Taito games , and this is definitely one of the more popular Taito arcade games.
I was always a bit rubbish at this and rarely managed to get past the second stage in the arcades. Nice to finally see it completed after all these years!
Depends how tight the arcade owner was. Once you have it loaded up in MAME you can change the virtual DIP switches to change the difficulty level and add more turbos 😀
I think not. Having played both Outrun (1986) and this (1988) at the arcade I think you could say it about Outrun but this came two years later and did not do anything better than it did except the speech obviously.
Absolutely loved this game in the arcade. When I was a kid my father gifted to me the C64 disk version. I had no heart of telling him the truth about the quality of that gift
@@MegaasAlexandros It was rated pretty high in the Speccy market. And I actually played it so many times. It really pushed the Spectrum's limits. A great effort all around by the programmers.
When I was a kid my only encounter with arcade machines was the local confectionery. For some reason the guy who ran the place got in 1 or 2 arcade machine, they were in rotation. One of them was Chase HQ. I was very young but I was obsessed with the graphics, the sound and gameplay. I always watched a guy play it. A game wasn't that expensive but I didn't have any money. Finally I got a coin and I was so nervous when I put it in, I could barely start the game and even though I tried my hardest, I ran out of time before the first checkpoint. I was disappointed, I wanted to play more but I didn't have more coins :( But still liked the games and whenever someone played I was there to watch.
Discovered this arcade game in the 90s on the ferries to and from France as a young child. Loved watching others play as had no money. The sound and graphics were outstanding at the time. Knocking over the barriers, the helicopter, the recognisable cars, the voice acting - all phenomenal. I think it holds up well today and thanks to emulators can enjoy it.

The graphics are pretty badass. Great sense of speed.
Thanks for the memories.. remember going down the local arcade with mates just to play this.. one of my mates who has sadly passed away was so good at this game.
I searched for this for years. When I was a kid in the early 90's and we are on vacation, there was an arcade machine with this game. Experiencing this game after 30 years, like a time machine. Great nostalgia! Thanks for uploading it.
This is exactly my memory of this game as well. On holiday in France (from the UK at that time) and the campsite I stayed at had this arcade game and I was hooked as an 10 year old.
Scrolled down to the comments specifically for this. You can hear some artifacting in the higher frequencies like when he says "PLEASE!" but for 1988 it's really insanely clean. One of those developers must've been out of his mind obsessed with audio fidelity to have those samples be taking up that much damn memory!
great playing this game in the arcade as a kid. the graphics were top notch at the time and the flashing police lights at the top of the game cabinet really got the adrenaline pumping
Despite tons of coins i never stopped the 4th car(blue ferrari bb512). I loved that game in my youth on summers. And i remember one night i was playing, my cousin told me hey come on and see this: this, was street fighter 2. Wow. What an era.
I played this game at least 40+ times until I finally beat it the 3rd one was the toughest I have seen others try time and again but still couldn't past stage 3 I was given a praise for the first person to beat it in one credit now that's was good enough for a thank you from me
remember watching some lad in 1988 put many coins in to catch the level 3 car, and he finally got him on suspicion of selling drugs ... " Just for that?!? I would have let him go "
what i LOVE about this game is (something you forgot to mention) it uses actual supercars like the ferrari testarossa right on the cover, as well as porsche 911 and a lamborghini and delorean (not a supercar of course...). rad racer did this on the nes as well showing vw beetles, lamborghinis, porsches and the like. free car design without the royalties!
Someone needs to remake this game with the testarossa from Miami vice, kitt from knight rider, the batmobile, starsky and hutch, nash bridges cuda, magnum pi Ferrari, the green hornet and the blues mobile!
Underrated classic game. Good longplay. Tony and Raymond would chase down an entire group of street racers (like need for speed and ect), rogue corrupted law officers (like gta games and ect), a terrorist apc vehicle (from silent scope EX arcade), A hijacked G.U.N. truck (from sonic adventure 2) a stolen high-perfomance metal slug and a VTOL jet fighter (From various videogames).
13:46 Amazing that these two 80s detectives got c0ked up and chased down half a dozen criminals all across the US and were rewarded by none other than Chief Anus. All while one of the detectives was shouting "PLEASE!" constantly. Really beautiful game though!
Does anyone feel that the two cops are modelled off the Leathal Weapon movie? I'm legit seeing Mel Gibson and Danny Glover here, and that first movie came out in 1987, when they would have been making this game.
Sentences for the villains: Ralph the slasher: Death Carlos the robber: Ten years The drug dealers: Life without parole Winston the LA Kidnapper: Life without parole Targo the Eastern Bloc spy: Death
My favourite arcade game when I was a kid. This still looks good today! What a game.
A company should come along that creates 90's type arcade games with the same colourful cartoon aesthetic but in 2.5D graphics.

I like the account and profile .
Well he is a undercover cop so basically he can harass whoever he wants
This game used to make you feel like Crockett & Tubbs from Miami Vice in the arcades!
Even if Tom Selleck and David Hasselhoff work together also.
Heh, maybe even Starsky and Hutch too.
@@Ian16545 I loved their iconic white striped car!

arcade games had always better graphics than NES equalents (because better hardware)
They did an amazing job with the sounds of this game. Really sounds like a 911 starting. Love the different tones of tire squeal, and the voices are great too.
Yeah except that it's quite obviously a 928!
I love this game this should be remade for modern consoles
Never noticed this before, but I like how when they're chasing the other Porsche, the guy laments that they have to smash into it.
Back in the arcades, this sound would only stand out of all the other arcade machines: WOUWOUWOUWWUWOWUWOWUWOUWOUWOUWOUWUO!!!
It had a red and blue light bar like police cars often do that started fladhing whenever your car was close to the bad guy's target car, also.
I would love to see Hamster Corporation pick this up and put it on PS4 and Switch in the Arcade Archives collection. They've already got a bunch of Taito games , and this is definitely one of the more popular Taito arcade games.
Seconded!
I wonder which Taito games they have.

Amiga version was bad too. The sequel, SCI, was pretty good on Amiga though.
One of the worst conversions c64 made along with double dragon.
@@MegaasAlexandros The Speccy version is fantastic. Did you expect it to have the speed of the arcade? 🙄

The voice acting! Omg the voice acting!
I complet chase hq in 1989 at age 15 with 10p

Bless that story , I used to get a 30 min bus ride to go play shinobi with £1 , that got me 5 goes , I loved the 80s
Intense game of the 80's . The police looks like Miami Vice Crocket & Tubbs.

Chase H.Q. Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]: Taito deliver thrills aplenty in this high-octane, cop-themed racer!
Read the video description for my review!
Love it played it 2002,it was far a head of its times, glad to see retro arcades and games making a comeback.
That's some really clear speech with no artifacting, I bet a lot of the storage went on that.
I'm surprised! for the time yeah!
What's worrying is how you can apply the same speech to a porno and it not be the least out of place.

That Porsche 928 (S4) can sure withstand a serious amount of abuse.
great playing this game in the arcade as a kid. the graphics were top notch at the time and the flashing police lights at the top of the game cabinet really got the adrenaline pumping
It's like Miami Vice meets Outrun
Getting that last hit on each vehicle was SO satisfying
Nothing makes you want to floor it than hearing “Gitty up Boy”. 🤣🤣. Loved this game when it was in the arcade.
No season pass, no dlc, no overly complicated mechanic. This is how you make an awesome game!!!!
If this game came out today, it would be cancelled for racism:
"Giddy up, BOY!"
"Let's go, Mr. Driver!"
How is that racism ?

Wow. Didn't know there was a arcade version, the game play is so smooth.
Something about the end of the boost and shifting into high-gear really sells it that they mean business.

The suburbs. A nefarious safe haven for dangerous criminals.
"Well, we pursued the suspect across multiple state lines so the judge will probably throw this out but man, what a rush!"
