I'd say the animation speed on android are too fast for 60hz displays; iOS has a slower scroll that helps with the smooth feel

I wished the Pixel 6 was the size of 6a and had its plastic build and therefore lower weight. It is a bit of a chungus and i dont even imagine what Pro is like. The Pixel 5 was cool, maybe a bit small, but the 6a dimmensions seem perfect.

    • @arunitoghatak
      @arunitoghatak 2 года назад +10

The Samsung a53 and every other phone you can get in this price range has a mid tier chipset compared to last year's flagship chip which Google is offering in the tensor....also no other phone except for the iPhone se and galaxy a53 have 5 years of update promise and software support as is on the Google, so yes refresh rate was the obvious cost cutting way to go

    • @faisal-nl2vf

If they gave 90hz display that would become the death for the normal pixel 6. And honestly a good chipset with 60hz is much better than 120hz with a bad chipset (like a53). Those phones can't run at proper 120hz and drop frames often, which is a far worse experience than a fast 60hz phone

@@faisal-nl2vf I've used a52s 5g, it had a very decent SD 778, and it's 120Hz display was so much better than Pixel 5a's 60 Hz. I haven't used a53, but I don't think it's display is worse than a52s 5g. About the chip, yes Samsung bottled it in the a53 with Exynos, but I don't think people who buy 450$ phones are power users. Imo, chip is the area to cut cost. People who spend 450$ deserve a high refresh rate. Secondly, you can get a Pixel 6 for 100 bucks more than 6a, which has a way better display, better camera, glass back and all the flagship features. Moreover, 6a doesn't even have the 3.5mm jack anymore. Imo, it makes 6a a hard sell, when you can get the so much better pixel 6 for 100 bucks more. Let's see.

At that point it is using consumer Cellular, which is why I hate when people talk about Google Fi. They never report that you're not usually on T-Mobile because sometimes T-Mobile services trash. A comprehensive and well put together review. Well done 9to5 Google. My take on the camera - I would really like to see Google bring more options for the way it processes images with things like picture profiles. I'm pretty sure the iPhone does this at the moment. Fundamentally I think Pixel series have great cameras but I'm getting a bit weary of their aggressive HDR type look. I would love to see some profiles that offer a more neutral, flatter output straight out of the camera.

Most people that are non tech reviewers don’t care as long as the phone works. I can tell you the 5a I had was every bit as good as phones with higher refresh rates to me. With the current deals on both the 6a (Buds A series if you pre-order) and 6 (around 500 euro in Germany and the Netherlands) I imagine it'll be pretty hard for people to make up their mind. We went the 6 route but people that are less picky about their phones will probably go the other way.

Google is offering $295-300 trade-in right now on the 3a (as long as powers on), if you're buying a 6a. Looking at eBay, you'd be hard-pressed to even get $100 for your used Pixel 3a if you were selling it on your own right now. That brings the 6a cost to $150, AND they're also throwing in a free pair of $100 Google Buds (which you could sell to recoup even more of the cost).
I honestly feel like I'd be crazy not to take them up on that offer, especially with software support now ending on the Pixel 3a.

Is creating a solid smart phone that difficult for Google? There always seems to be something off with them eg network performance, thermal management, choppy performance.. it seems like the P2 was peak pixel. I personally loved mine and had zero issues. Every pixel since has been somewhat of a let down

  • @albundy06

PSA. When you're Google or ANY other company buying chips ( really wafers and fab allocation),. You're not paying any more for a flagship chip.
You're paying for the wafer. Aka you're paying for the usable dies you get out of them.
You aren't then selling them to a third party or binning them down from the best ( flagship) to whatever other skus.
They pay the SAME amount for it. If they sell the lower binned chips as something else, they just get to sell more chips from the wafer.
For example. Take Nvidia or Intel. It costs Nvidia the same amount for every chip produced that is actually the same. From a 3090ti die to a 3080 of 70 (. I forget where the die actually changes and isn't just a binned part)
Intel and AMD do the same.
So when you're a Google or a apple who are buying chips, wafers , fab allocation to make them. You aren't spending any more money to get a flagship chip.
You would be spending MORE on making a different non flagship chip. You either sell the same exact chip that passes the same validation as the flagship. Or you sell the same exact chips that are still functional but don't meet those requirements but binned down.
Hell. Sometimes these companies will even artificially create bins just to fill in their product line up.
Google is basically paying x amount for the fab access and the transistor / die size and yields. Not a flagship vs midrange.
