Yo team! Google have dropped the price of the Pixel 6a down to $599 AUD ($420 USD) on their official website - store.google.com/?hl=en-GB This is the exact pricing I said I would have LOVED them to launch this phone at, and now that it is that price, I can HIGHLY recommend it! Bravo Google 👏🏻
I am looking into upgrading from my Huawei P30 Pro which btw is a 60 HZ phone that takes incredible pics but I would like to upgrade to a Pixel. However, not sure if I should go with the 6a, 6 or wait for the 7 (not the Pro). For value for money I would say 6a but for a greater upgrade in tech 7 due to Tensor 2..what do you think?
The pixel 6a is the best phone I've ever had, I've had expensive Samsung's and OnePlus phones before but the pixel is just something else. The 60hz refresh rate with the tensor chip is an absolute beast. Battery life is great, I get around 8 hours screen on time comfortably (heavy usage) the only negative I have for the 6a is the slow charging, 25w would have been ideal but then again it's an all day battery, you only have to charge it once. I'm team pixel forever now I'm really impressed.
I've taken to using a slower 5-watt charger overnight, and then using the 18-watt charger for quick 'refills' when I need it. The way I look at it. I'm unconscious, so a slow charge is fine. And 20 minutes or so on the 18-watt charger, can top off the battery when I need it.
@@lokeshvishal988 18 watts is what it is designed to use. With 18 watts, it will charge from 20% capacity to 100% in about an hour and a half. BUT, it charges just fine when using a lower powered, and slower charger.
I love how people say the 6a isn’t worth it based on refresh rate alone. Regular consumers like me don’t care about high refresh rate as long as it works well. Also, $150 isn’t a little bit more for those on a budget or not looking to spend over $500 on a phone. I can respect your opinion, but to me, it’s completely ridiculous you say the 6a isn’t worth getting simply for the high refresh rate and the price. $450 is actually a good deal for a phone with a flagship processor and 5 years of support. I swear tech reviewers obsess too much over 90 and 120 hertz displays. What amuses me is for months before it’s release everyone knew the specs on the refresh rate. All of a sudden now the 6a is trash because of it? Then I don’t remember any of these same hypocritical tech reviewers complaining as much about the iPhone SE 2022, iPhone 13 mini or iPhone 13 for having the exact same 60 hertz panel.
You cant compare it with iphones 60hz refresh rate man, iphone just has a better chip and in any test is superior in refresh rate. There are tests on youtube to prove this. A fair comparison would be with other android 60hz phones only. Right now the best buy in budget category is the Nothing phone which also has 120Hz
@@Ismail-hx4qj I agree the 60 hertz on iPhone is more smooth but you have to admit the tensor chip is close and the 60 hertz is the closest android to being iPhone smooth
@@Ismail-hx4qj I have iphone se 2022 and pixel 6a side by side and there's literally no difference iphone might be slightly smoother idk about "superior" but no one will notice it tbh.
@@Ismail-hx4qj the iphone has a superior screen, in that's it's much brighter and more colour accurate and more pleasing to the eye , so the refresh rate can be excused. I compared my friends iphone 13 to my pixel 6, I also looked at a few other models in store EG Samsung S22, their screens are on another level 😊
@@marksouthwell4490 Samsung makes all the screens. For all 3. Just the 6a is a cheaper panel to keep costs down. And apple tunes the screen different. Not entirely fair to compare 6a to standard iPhones. It's spot in market squares it up to the iphone mini & se. But it's about $400 or less now. Which is an incredible win for 6a considering it also is missing fast charge and has a lesser camera from the 6 & 6pro.
Pro tip: Another way to feel the difference between a plastic back and a glass back is dropping the phone. You feel like sh!t when the glass back shatters in a million pieces. Plastic all the way. Really liking my 6A.
I will NEVER EVER understand why manufacturers and the public put a value on premium build feel. There is absolutely ZERO reason to have the back of a phone made out of glass. One of the best possible values you can get out of a phone is less weight and less break ability. Greatest feeling phone I ever had was a Motorola moto G where the entire back of the phone was like a black rubber.
@@chakko007 it doesn't have the perception of 'quality' I guess. Tbh each of my last 3 phones I've used cases so it wouldn't really matter if it would be made of glass or plastic. I'd never feel it!
Coming from the 3a, which I retired when I got the 6a, I don't find the 6a fingerprint reader any slower or any less reliable than that of the 3a. The battery life gives me roughly a day and a half of casual use. Somewhat less than when I'm viewing videos or playing simple games, which I personally feel is acceptable. With the camera, the color and dynamic range is better than the 3a but not significant. However, the 6a's noise control is significantly better than the 3a. This means enlarged prints will hold up much better. Physical size is similar to 3a. I agree that the target price should be closer to $400 US but I got 2 of them free for switching carriers, so. . . I am quite content with my new 6a phones. I'm getting exactly what I expected and I'm happy.

The strange discounts for the pixel 6 make it hard to know when the best time to purchase any Google phone is. They are great devices at almost any of the launch prices but missing a deal can take the fun out of it.
Great review and good point about the pixel 6 being just little more money. I actually love smaller phones (the 4a was the best size for me), and I don't really care for an additional 2 gb RAM and additional storage, and I've been on 60 hertz since pixel 3a. So it doesn't matter that much to me. Something to consider if you're cross shopping with 6.

i bought my 6A yesterday for 370$ and i think it was worth. I was thinking about buying Poco F4 instead but the better camera and the longer update support was the reason to buy the Pixel 6A.
Gotta say one thing - I find it kinda strange that when tech reviewers talk about budget Iphone SE its ''the best single camera in this price range. the most consistent with the best color and noise management''. But don't mind pointing out its the 'same camera hardware Google's been using for years & unfortunately not the new sensor as seen in the latest Pixel 6 lineup' when talking about the Pixel 6A. Not the mention all the backlash Google got due to its 60hz display. Don't get me wrong Mr Beckman, this is by no means a dig at you. The review is, as usual, spot on with all the pros and cons perfectly balanced and pointed out. But seems to me that the YT tech community in general does have a weird sense of objectivity from time to time. Kind regards , B
However people complain about pixel 6 not being bright enough outdoors and also the fingerprint problem is there. Now I wonder which is better nothing, s21 fe, or a53
Already ordered mine, but looks like trading in my 4a 5G is a good idea. I think you're the closest type of user to me, with the rooting and everything.
Super late comment since I just got my 6a after trading-in my 5a from Google's Black Friday promo (fun fact: the actual price I paid for my 6a is zero!!) I either feel it's a very great bonus from Google, or Google actually deceived us for releasing the 5 and 5a with mid range chip. The difference of the chip alone makes eeeeverything different. Also the design language and the material they chose, makes this phone feels ABSOLUTELY like a flagship. With 5a, opening camera is slow, processing every photo is slow, opening map is slow, opening camera while you're on an a navigation? Good luck! Design language, while minimal and sleek, feels outdated. For some people refresh rate is probably important, but for me, the freedom to do anything I want with my phone without everything being slow is an absolute bliss.
Here the Pixel 6a is 150 euros less expensive, which isn't a small difference in my opinion. I don't need wireless charging, and also the 60 Hz screen isn't a problem (I prefer this above a less good camera).
Just bought this phone for 350USD (370 after taxes), coming from an aging Pixel 3a XL that recently received its last security update, wanted a higher end option this time but cash is scarce and I can't wait, hope they keep improving and maybe my next one will be a Pixel 8/9 Pro, though as a proponent of headphone jacks and expandable storage, might switch to a Sony Xperia III V or equivalent
Just putting a general question out there: @ what percentage of battery life should you allow the 6a to go down to before charging? This is also to keep the longevity of the battery in mind. Would like to know your opinions on this!
@@sonnymorgan6141 Avoid full cycle (0-100%) and overnight charging. Instead, top up your phone more regularly with partial charges. Ending a charge at 80-90% is better for the battery than topping up to completely full. Use fast charging technologies sparingly and when your device is cool.
$150 is not a small amount of money to many people especially considering you have to buy a decent case and screen protectors and probably insurance. It adds up fast.
Got it for 300 usd best freak of a midget i got , it's melting me even the fingerprint it is great the battery 🫠 I hate high refresh rate hate glass back hate wireless charging hate the google search box with the "at glance" madness ...hate that it doesn't have a headphone jack but regarding the specs it's the best phone and better than much more expensive phones.
I'm not as worried about the 60hz refresh rate as I am about how washed out the display looks compared to my Galaxy S10e. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
I also have the pixel 4a and I consider upgrading. my big issue is that for the first time ever my smartphone is still functioning after 2 years so I am not sure if I should wait another year or not
I suppose. On the other hand, at launch, Google gave me US$300 for my old Pixel 3a XL and threw in a pair of Series-A buds. So, the price was $US449 less US$300 meaning US$149 for the phone and buds. (And I had only paid US$200 for the Pixel 3a XL when I bought it as an open box unit.)
While talking about refresh rate and the whole 60 vs. 90 Hz comparison, you need to know what the target audience is. Most folks are not power users, and the lack of a 90 Hz display would not bother anyone, at least most of them. The phone does everything well for its price, and people need to accept it. You wouldn't go and compare the Mercedes A class with an S Class, right? There might be common features in both phones but both are built with a specific audience in mind.
The 6a with the prices on Amazon literally make it the best balanced phone for price n performance.. plays cod mobile on highest settings... Camera is a bit outdated but better than most still.
watching this one my Pixel 6a! upgraded from Pixel 3a XL and honestly I feel 6a is the same phone because of the android 12 experience and Camera performance 😂 Eagerly waiting for Android 13 on the tesor chip of my Pixel 6a !
It's quite unfortunate as the pure Pixel experience really comes post Android 13 update given how buggy and lacking the performance on Android 12 was.. I'm sure all these tech youtubers will enjoy the smooth sail once they adopt to Android 13 going forward.
I like the slimmer 6a, I compared at a Best Buy today...The only issue I have is that fingerprint sensor! You can trade in a n older pizel with Google and the 6A will cost about 159$ Us
I'd like to get this, but I really wanted a telephoto lens. As good as it is, I'll probably get the Pixel 6 Pro. Those tele lens are a great addition since I can nicer zoom on people.
Google needs to improve the screens on the pixels. I have a pixel 6 and find the screen quite poor ( poor nits etc) . After purchasing the P6 I looked at a few Samsung phones- S20fe , S22 and the iphone 13 I felt very disappointed with the pixel 6 screen
Ever since getting the latest update to Android 13 now the fingerprint sensor doesn't recognize my print. That is a real pain and makes the experience frustrating..... This is otherwise a stellar phone. Something like that ruins it though.
🙏. The price: Google offers the trade in - only Google - and I can get a good offer for my 3a. Therefore it makes sense to by a 6a or 6 at the Google store. - Great review!
Yeah.. but when you can trade in a pixel 3a (worth like 40$) in for 300$ off and get a free pair of wireless earbuds the 6a beats out the price of the pixel 6. People coming from the 4's could do it too for a cheap upgrade.
I have a 4a which I'll be keeping as long as possible, why do they keep creeping up the size of these phones. I previously went from a 2 XL to a 3 because the 2 XL was too large for me as I keep my phone and wallet in my front pocket, the 6a is almost the same size as the 2 XL so I'll give it a miss. We'll see what the next generation brings I guess.
Great video Sam! #nohatgang Have been waiting to hear your thoughts on this one! Hopefully Google does a good job with the 7 series in a few months. Keen to see what they bring to market!
i really like this phone. i just didnt buy it because of storage. my phone is already 4 years (xiaomi Mi A2, with partnership of googloe to give a clean androrid look) and i already have 115gb of storage full. with pixel´s camera i think i will fill it really fast. i´m really disapointed with that. i was waiting for it to upgrade... the regular pixel 6 is it worth the difference just because of storage? i feel that price gap opens new doors to other options... the 450 that the 6A costs here is amaizng
Great review ... however ... with Inflation running at 9% in the USA ... US $ 450 / 1.09 ... = $ 413 .. which is approx. your $ 415 value buy price for a Pixel 6a. .... "Math" !
Battery life on LTE can last only for 5,5 hours of screen play without playing and videocalls. Just video, social media, texting and surfing. 5,5 hours. Think twice.
90 120hrz more battery drain and can cause stutter. See 53A does the pixel 6a works a lot better? Yes faster yes. So who cares. Wireless charging less efficient and more battery degradation. So I feel both are plus leaving out. I take smooth responsive over 120hrz stutter slow A53. One plus N20 is a beast of a phone as well only spots a 60 olds screen and is smooth. Have u ever used an iPhone 13 12 11 and so on and said they are slow? No all of them fast responsive faster then androids run better and guess what no 90 or 120 screens. I know mind blowing. Really overrated. And so far the only manufacturer that got wireless charging right was Palm with the Pre there wesentlich battery degradation and overheating. Everyone else even in todays time still hasn’t figured it out and therefore makes wireless charging less efficient and harder on the battery.

I don't need wireless charging, and also the 60 Hz screen isn't a problem (I prefer this above a less good camera).
I really love your channel man!.... mostly bcoz of the screen aspect ratio that it fits fully on my phone 👍.... And also great content as always 👍.
Which icon pack are you using?
I just switched to the 6a because in Canada right now, carriers are selling it for 240CAD and for that price, it's a steal!!
Dude I love your layout for your phone. What are you using for the background and fonts?
I want those icons!!!
Great vid man, cinematography is on point as always
Pretty nice review! Anyone have the wallpaper at 3:10 ?
Just bought this phone for 350USD (370 after taxes), coming from an aging Pixel 3a XL that recently received its last security update, wanted a higher end option this time but cash is scarce and I can't wait, hope they keep improving and maybe my next one will be a Pixel 8/9 Pro, though as a proponent of headphone jacks and expandable storage, might switch to a Sony Xperia III V or equivalent
Man your videos are sharp AF, great job!
Just putting a general question out there: @ what percentage of battery life should you allow the 6a to go down to before charging? This is also to keep the longevity of the battery in mind. Would like to know your opinions on this!
15 and charge to 80
@@chancesareshewears... Cheers helps a lot to know..so you shouldn't fully charge to 100% right!
@@chancesareshewears...thanks so much 👍
Excellent review, truly appreciated!
$150 is not a small amount of money to many people especially considering you have to buy a decent case and screen protectors and probably insurance. It adds up fast.
Nexus 6p had a full camera strip, marketed by Google to!
Got it for 300 usd best freak of a midget i got , it's melting me even the fingerprint it is great the battery 🫠
I hate high refresh rate hate glass back hate wireless charging hate the google search box with the "at glance" madness ...hate that it doesn't have a headphone jack but regarding the specs it's the best phone and better than much more expensive phones.
Why would anyone lean over the railing of a bridge with their phone in their hand??? Phones can slip with anyone. So why would you do that?
Sam excelente video me aclaro muchas cosas
Sam,which music player were you using while reviewing this phone ?
hey mate. thanks for the review. will you be doing another review as it's been updated to android 13? cheers
Really love your reviews! It's not just a spec download. Appreciate the real world views!
Has anyone found the icon pack that he is using on his pixel 6a? It looks really good!!
Hell I can't remember how to add them without a launcher. And I used to theme 🤦🏾♂️
Man the 60Hz screen is the only thing that stopped me from trading in my Pixel 4. Guess I'll wait for the 7a!
Buy it, it's not slow at all. It's better than the 90hz that was on my OnePlus.
@@ericd.evans.3054 huh? you okay buddy?
So I am really curious about your opinion, what would you take this one or nothing phone 1?
9:29 you forgot to turn off extra dim. happens to me as well, lol.
Ha! I actually leave it on when filming reviews, otherwise the display flickers on camera.
@@sambeckman Oh right, never knew haha
Love the app launcher you're using, can you share the name of the app or the link?
Nice content bro...which will you choose between the 5 and the 6A?
I like the slimmer 6a, I compared at a Best Buy today...The only issue I have is that fingerprint sensor! You can trade in a n older pizel with Google and the 6A will cost about 159$ Us
Just picked up the 6a today, thankfully google was/is doing a discount of $150, so was able to get it for your recommended launch price of $599!
Great review, and cinematography is incredible. Love it 😍😍
love the production quality 😌
bought the phone right now, waiting for it to arrive internationally. U$D 350 (It may get taxed in importing though). Good deal?
I'd like to get this, but I really wanted a telephoto lens. As good as it is, I'll probably get the Pixel 6 Pro. Those tele lens are a great addition since I can nicer zoom on people.
Those tele lenses really spice up the portrait shots!
In my country the difference right now in price between Pixel 6 and 6a is about USD 30$...
And last time I've checked, the Pixel 6 was indeed cheaper
Ever since getting the latest update to Android 13 now the fingerprint sensor doesn't recognize my print. That is a real pain and makes the experience frustrating..... This is otherwise a stellar phone. Something like that ruins it though.
🙏. The price: Google offers the trade in - only Google - and I can get a good offer for my 3a. Therefore it makes sense to by a 6a or 6 at the Google store. - Great review!
Gotta slap Nova Launcher on top.
One thing you aren’t considering is phone size. I will always take the smaller phone over the larger phone everyday if the week
Yeah.. but when you can trade in a pixel 3a (worth like 40$) in for 300$ off and get a free pair of wireless earbuds the 6a beats out the price of the pixel 6. People coming from the 4's could do it too for a cheap upgrade.
What is the name of the music player? @4.30
Juice
I have a 4a which I'll be keeping as long as possible, why do they keep creeping up the size of these phones. I previously went from a 2 XL to a 3 because the 2 XL was too large for me as I keep my phone and wallet in my front pocket, the 6a is almost the same size as the 2 XL so I'll give it a miss. We'll see what the next generation brings I guess.
same questions as some below: which icon pack is that? it is beautiful. thank you.
very nice review! thanks!
Good video. I like 21:9 cropped. 👌
Received mine today. Returning it tomorrow. It’s not very good.
Great video Sam! #nohatgang
Have been waiting to hear your thoughts on this one! Hopefully Google does a good job with the 7 series in a few months. Keen to see what they bring to market!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
what music player was he using @4:08?
Where do you get your wallpapers?
i really like this phone. i just didnt buy it because of storage. my phone is already 4 years (xiaomi Mi A2, with partnership of googloe to give a clean androrid look) and i already have 115gb of storage full. with pixel´s camera i think i will fill it really fast. i´m really disapointed with that. i was waiting for it to upgrade... the regular pixel 6 is it worth the difference just because of storage? i feel that price gap opens new doors to other options... the 450 that the 6A costs here is amaizng
Which Icon is used??
Where can I get those wallpaper
I don't think this was a one-month later review. This was clearly a comparison video with the pixel 6.
Great review ... however ... with Inflation running at 9% in the USA ... US $ 450 / 1.09 ... = $ 413 .. which is approx. your $ 415 value buy price for a Pixel 6a. .... "Math" !
I just want to know what wall that is at the 0:51 mark 👀
Hey can someone tell me which skin is he using in the software section???
Battery life on LTE can last only for 5,5 hours of screen play without playing and videocalls. Just video, social media, texting and surfing.
5,5 hours.
Think twice.
I've been using the "bigger brother" (the regular pixel 6) since January and I've got to say...It's the best phone I've ever had!
bro the videography 😩😩
I have the pixel 3A and be honest its an amazing phone , i just purchase the pixel 6a and i pretty sure , will be an amazing phone too !
do you like it so far
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building !!!
where do you get that theme at 3:31
I wanna know it too
wallpaper ?
Amazing video quality. Always a big fan of your quality and content.🔥🔥
I'm not a fan of the glass and plastic backs theyre using. The 5a using a metal back feels more premium to me.
Glass backs on phones are the stupidest incorporation of all time.. why not make the phone out of eggshells while they're at it.
Don't forget that the 6 is about to be discontinued in favour of the new 7. The 6a will remain Google's lower cost offering well inti next year.
can you post the wallpaper please!
What about a 6a for 350€?
