Nyjah: 21 tricks, 3 bails Luan: 27 tricks, 4 bails. Both did overall similar hard tricks, Nyjah mainly on the rail, Luan using the whole course. I have Luan slightly better, but was very close though. Both are incredible talented.
+Peter Pan It's cool you counted everything up. The tricks Nyjah did on the handrail just gave him this win. Luan took 3 tries to make a switch tre over not a huge obstacle, and he didn't have the difficulty of tricks Nyjah had. But man...what a jam. Best in skateboarding history.
+Peter Pan that half cab back smith 180 though..nobody is skating hand rails like that, that consistently.. Such a unique and fascinating battle these two have going. One on the hand rails and the other on everything else. In the end though I think hand rails earn wayy more respect and points, especially considering the degree of difficulty the tricks were, Nyah deserved this I think, But I think it was actually closer, I would have luan at 96.
+Leonardo Santos Harder tricks? Luan's tricks just have way more pop than a normal person. Yes his tricks are hard but he can't do rail tricks like Nyjah can. Obviously, that's why he does flip tricks over the rail because it does look better. Nyjah's more precise when it comes to grinding. Consistency on a handrail is why none of the street league guys can beat him, Kelvin won Super Crown because of his tricks on the handrail..makes sense right. Nyjah can Treflip/switch just like luan, just not nearly as high.
Hi im Eman Well when you think about it there are only 3 possibilities: rail, impact, technical. You don't often see people doing technical shit like 720 flip late shuvit do you? Shane oneill is probably the most technical, but what are the odds of landing 3-4 technical tricks in a row to win street league especially in a contest situation? That's why people don't go that route. So then there are only 2 possibilities. Street league has pretty much eliminated big gap tricks to prevent Nyjah from winning so much, so impact tricks are eliminated. That leaves 1 possibility left. That leaves grind tricks, so yes you're right.
7 years later....and I still have never seen anyone skate for 5min this consistently at a competition. I don't think I've seen Luan or Nyjah skate like this in the last 6years.
A lot of people here definitely don't skate or simply don't understand what hitting a nearly handrail level rail switch means. Edit: Even though in my wildest dreams I couldn’t skate even close to as well as Luan skates, I can at least IMAGINE doing the big flip tricks and stuff he does. However I really cant imagine switch smithing or feebling a handrail.
Yeah man, it's awkward as fuck to try and keep the balance on the rail switch. I can only slide like 10 inches on a switch front board on a flatbar. And that's not even a hard slide trick
É o Nyjah tem um nivel técnico muito acima dos outros, mas acho que perdeu um pouco o estilo, ficou muito robotizado e é ai aonde o Luan sai um pouco na frente
look you cant compare them because both are different .. luan is a more type of a tech skater likes to have fun and have very clean style but nyjah dose tricks that are so hard that you could get to the hospital so it cant be compared these styles are soo good you cant compare them ... at the end this was 2 years later lol
that half cab back smith 180 though..nobody is skating hand rails like that, that consistently.. Such a unique and fascinating battle these two have going. One on the hand rails and the other on everything else. @@bigorno05 Exactly, he does it every time on SLs. Luan likes to enjoy the time and do the tricks he likes to do in the whole Park, it seems that Nyjah only cares about the prize. Btw, we can't complain about that
Everyone says Luan doesn't skate rails, even Luan says that. But if u look at some of his footage when he was a little kid, he was destroying rails he had nollie flip boardslides down hand rails and it looked beautiful. The footage is on youtube. If only he kept doing that trick as he got older. He had other tricks down rails too obviously but i assume he must've had a bad slam at some point so he stopped skating handrails.
Desculpa, mas as manobras do Nyjah foram superioes. Nyjah mandou manobras mais ténicas no corrimão descendo equanto Luan mandou boas manobras mas em obstáculos mais simples.
I don't understand why luan does not skate rails or hubbas it cost him contest after contest. that's why he does not ever get mad cred for street parts its small technical tricks no bangers. respect the style
Mike Diesel - totally hear what you're saying, it definitely does cost him.. but there's nothing small about the tricks he was doing if you saw that course in real life you would shit your pants. He goes big on those flip tricks. Not all of them, but he's got switch tre flips over your head! And a whole bunch of other insane tricks. Even on flat ground his pop is in sane he could Nollie heal straight over five boards stacked! But when you're watching it on a video although it looks big you don't realize just how big it really is. I skated for over 10 years and almost went pro. I've seen a lot of the spots in person, that were big in video, but seeing them in real life really made me question what kind of balls it takes to go that big! And Houston kills the rails, always. No doubt there.
2 estilos autênticos e distintos, pra mim essa foi a final mais épica do skate, esse formato de campeonato é muito estigante. Esse round é universal e marca historicamente na real
most impressive contest skateboarding I have ever seen. Luan, so many tricks and creative lines. Nyjah, incredibly technical difficult phat handrails with flawless execution.
the skating was so damn good. nyjah and luan are so sick. 5 minutes non-stop barely missing any tricks all at crazy high difficulty settings. these two are the best of the best in the world right here.
Im am from brazil and i always cheer for luan, but at this time nyjah won in my opnion in the last minute luan was rrally tired while nyjah was killing the whole course omg that 180 frontside hurricane 270 out this was sick! Congrats nyjah
+James Cioffi Meh. You could easily criticize Luan too for never doing big rails and focusing too much on flip tricks. Both of them are a bit niched as skaters but they excel because their consistency's unmatched.
James Cioffi - I kind of agree with you.... But those rail tricks he was doing were absolutely fucking insane! And the level of consistency is ridiculous, but it can get a bit stale seeing the same part of the course being used over and over and over. And Luan always uses the entire course. And it's not surprising that he got more tricks in.. he goes so fucking fast, balls out! But I still enjoy watching Houston skate, since he was a little kid he was a ripper and he's got some serious board control.
Luan had the edge on my vote. This dude skates with such passion and flow you can feel his love for skating. Focused and precise yet fluid and fun. Nyah seems way more concerned with strategy and performance, talented skater but he's way too rigid in comparison to Luan.
Damn yall really hate Nyjah for no reason. He came into this as the underdog and skated smarter and better. Rather than using all his energy skating the whole park like Luan, he preserved it and went for bigger tricks from the hand rail consistently. Luan was sick but he was dead in the last minute or so and Nyjah still had enough energy to turn it into a clear win.
Luan never uses rails, pretty much just roll flip, not much link, but he does a lot of tricks. Nyjah didn't use the whole course, but he did difficult tail tricks and linked. Very close runs.

Just his technique, still a gnarly skater though. Just between the two, I like Nyjah's style little better, Just my opinion.
I truly think Luan is a better more naturally gifted skater the kind that can jump on any board any size loose or tight trucks and just straight rip it where Nyjah takes things very serious and pushes himself allot harder. Luan has handrails yet he didn't hit the handrail once also notice Luan skates around without even looking at Nyjah where Nyjah is so focused on what tricks Luan is landing and doing and is more obsessed with being number 1 and winning. Luan landed much harder tricks and skated over the entire park. Nyjah just did some tricks on the same rail. Luan should be the winner so far.
