    I definitely learned how to quilt by watching Georgia Bonsteel and Eleanor Burns. Have books from the both of them. Boy has quilting come a long way. Then Fons and Porter appeared next on TV. Between those PBS series and every quilt magazine subscription I could order I taught myself to make incredible quilts. And the final best gift I gave myself was to join my local quilt guild. Best thing I ever did. Sadly after the pandemic my big city no longer has a quilt store or quilt guild. I lost all of my quilt friends. Now You Tube is where it's at.

    Please do not water your beautiful Orchid with ice cubes. Just soak the orchid when it feels dry for about 15 minutes, then drain. I have six Orchids. They can live for many decades when taken care of. They flower during the winter and thier flowers can last for months

    • @marcellarodriguez7955

      What I’ve been doing and my orchids have been lasting and reblooms come up is, I put the plastic pot with the holes in another pot that has a little bit of water. I don’t water directly because the leafs and aerial roots rot easily. I add water probably every two weeks

    Orchids like bright but filtered light. My mom kept hers in a south facing picture window that had a sheet over it (in Chicago). They rebloomed over and over.

  • @juliaogara8794
    @juliaogara8794 9 месяцев назад +2

    I've had one of that particular orchid for 12 years. Make sure the roots are in a clear pot. They need light 24/7. Feed when in bud or flower. Egg cup full every 2 weeks at most. I actually spritz water mine every few days when hot or, like now in England, the central heating on daily. Winter, not in flower water once a month unless drops.
    Mine survived my mother spraying with anti bacterial spray for 2 weeks when I was on holiday. It went very yellow but did revive and flower. It usually flowers at least once a year. She was repotted in last 18 months and has yet to flower again but is growing new leaves.
    They like good light but not direct sunlight, experience. She was moved to south facing toilet but is now in an East facing bathroom.
    Enjoy her😀

    Georgia Bonesteel’s PBS show about lap quilting got me into quilting. I was already a garment sewer and crewel embroiderer. I even ordered the companion book for the TV show - the first time I had ever done something like that. I made my mother-in-law an apron using a hand pieced and hand quilted block for the bodice. It was made from orange gingham check and brown print fabric I had left over from making a skirt. It was the early 1980s, so what better color than orange! And definitely fabric and polyester batting from the So-fro fabric store at the mall. I still have a sample of four cathedral windows blocks I hand sewed.

    Happy New Year! I love the year end recap. I made two of the sew alongs and am currently working on the Festivals and Fireworks. I am super excited about a new Perfect 10 quilt!! I might do Banana quilt or maybe another Birthday Cake because I love that one too. My husband bought me a boxed set of Georgia Bonesteel books when I started quilting in the early 90s. I stopped 7-8 years later when my career and motherhood took over my time. Fast forward to 2022 and I started back into quilting, bought a modern sewing machine, and retired this year, so I have plenty of time to sew. ❤❤❤

    I did watch and quilt along with Georgia Bonesteel. Have several of her books as well as one of her “autographed “ hand quilting hoops that are meant to stand on a table or your lap to keep both hands free. Good memories!

    Good morning ☕️☕️ and happy new year! This year I gifted seven quilts (for Christmas) to family members. I am now looking for more masculine patterns for the nephews and brother-in-laws in my family 🤗

    Pat you are truly inspirational. I don't know how you keep track of all the projects. Yet you do and I watch you do it:). I know you say it is just a job, but I think it is a spiritual vocation. You uplift us all. Happy New Year.
