    • @starstrikes
      @starstrikes Год назад

      Absolutely. Something like that 130.000 mile CLS AMG sounds on paper like a super bargain, but you could quite literally spend half the value of the car on just services and repairs within a year. Not to mention if something goes seriously wrong with it and you have to take it to a dealer, you’re better off parting it out.

      Also a lot of these will be in the higher road tax brackets. That really puts me off, would never pay£5-600 per year for a car that doesn't get used that much.
      That's why certain models are difficult to sell on (also when you factor in the servicing and parts costs).

    I used to have an E60 BMW 535d (2008) and had it remapped. It was so much fun to drive and blisteringly quick and really comfortable with Michelin SS tyres on (just get rid of the runflats is my only advice). Keep the M sport suspension- it’s supple and does a good job on UK roads. Do not ruin with coil overs ! Honestly I miss that car and I bought a later model 2016 535i petrol in 2016 and it was not as nice as the earlier E60.
    Other than that a Focus ST with the 2.5 engine is a good buy too. I think an early (2002) R53 Mini Cooper S is a good buy but not as much fun as a 2004/5 Renault Clio 182. 😉✌🏼

    I would strongly advise against buying aging German cars as the number of issues become an avalanche, especially with electronics. While it may sound a bargain now, but some short time later the cost of ownership and repair things like V8 will destroy your budget. I would rather look at older (even from 90s) Japanese cars - that was a time when they made it with 1M km engine resource.

    Ah man, I had a GT-FOUR back in 2012, kept it for 18 months, nothing went wrong. A proper UK spec one from 1995. 0-60 was a shade under 5 seconds. I paid just under £3k for it back then. A young chav bought it off me and wrote it off a year later 🙄😢 Wish I'd kept it, it would be worth a lot more than I paid for it now.
