I owned one for 3 years and loved it. No problems mechanically, and it was certainly quick enough. Only issue I had was that certain light finered people wanted it too. It got stolen once and recovered, and they tried to have it away a further 3 times!
Out of all those cars if you add 3k to 4k you can find a Cayman s (boxter with a roof) with very low milage. Probably because it didn't catch on very well in our market when initially released. (Obviously outside of budget but worth having a look).

I loved that car so much. It was the last gen to have hydraulic steering as well. I haven’t driven the newest model but the models after the E90s haven’t had nearly as good of a feel.

E90-93 Fuel Injectors are ridiculously bad. However bmw have now resolved this issue with a new supplier. I remember having changed 18 fuel injectors in 6 years of owning the car. The cause of the issue was if you dont drive the car on a regular basis the injectors start leaking.

Yes all of these are cheap cars but have you considered the insurance? Itll be sky high because of how sporty alot of these are and engine size and that. So really you should be going for something that's less sporty but still fun to drive, a car known by less people so it will be cheap and the insurance will be aswell
Don't give up on a car because of the insurance group, you never know what criteria they are judged by could work to your advantage and be affordable for you but not for another person your age! Always check.

Should I keep the cash and save it (by getting the 330i) or spend it and get the 09? That 06 is in truly new shape (its a local guy not in a hurry to sell). Obvious worries are the turbo/fuel pump issues after the CPO warranty runs out. But I would lose out on the turbo fun. Is it worth it?
the 330i is a fine dependable car. it won't have HPFP or turbo issues down the road. they are very similar looking and most people aren't going to know the difference. you are buying a car that to most people, looks current. people shit when i explain my car has 140,000 miles and is 6 years old. the difference is obviously in the power, if you think you will use it, then by all means go the 335 route. that's something that depends on you and what your priorities are. take the 330 for a spin though, it's not a turbo but it is still an impressive car.
