I have a good size stash that I would like smaller, but I prefer to make blankets and hats to donate rather then giving my yarn away. So I think you gave me inspiration to sort my yarn between keep and make something to donate. I some times get in moods where I just want to get rid of everything and those are prefect times to sort my stash! Good luck on the new adventure!
I giggled when you produced those multiple tape measures... I still use one I have had since 1969! Over the years I have been given more as gifts or freebies... and I just put them in a tin in a drawer... ( of useful things)... I can't be as brutal as getting rid... Love your self discipline...
I have several tape measures, too. I even invested in a quilters tape measure to tackle on larger jobs. It seems that those are things I'm always buying for knitting and crocheting.
Congratulations!! And for me, it probably sounds silly, but I get stuck in the "what if I need this later?" bucket and then I hang onto everything 🙈🤣 which makes decluttering very difficult
Yes! You are not alone! I've found it helpful to take the "what ifs" and put them in a box somewhere out of the way. Then I give myself a time limit. If I need anything from the "what if" box within... say three months, I go get it! Once that time limit is up, I allow myself to let go of the rest.
Especially if you’re a crafter on a budget, I feel like I wasted my money if I buy yarn then get rid of it unused! Or if someone gives me yarn, I feel like I’m not showing enough appreciation if I don’t use it eventually
Hi, I've only joined your page this week- as I bought a circular knitting machine...now, with the grey- keep it! I saw a lady saying grey mixes very well with bright colours! I'm a sewer of 40+ years so I enjoy creativity- knitting is the area where I will need some support as I haven't done it since my kids were babies!(they are nearly 40!)..good to see your enthusiasm..hoping you have LOTS of instructions for everything!
How exciting! I have LOVED your decluttering videos of your yarn room. I may go back and watch your old ones again now... ;) I have had a similar journey in downsizing my stash. I am now down to one under bed bin of yarn, I sold all my extra project bags and only have my four fringe bags, a compact pouch for my dpns and interchangeable sets, my swift and I just got the same yarn winder for Christmas (love it!). We just moved and are currently house hunting so it is allllll in storage and I’m currently operating out of just one bag (2.5 out of 5 projects done uhoh) and it is so nice not having that stress of stuff.
I'm so excited for you! That Knit Comfortably book is on my list of books to get. It will make a great prize! Yarn room is looking so good. I love turning on your organization videos while I'm cleaning/organizing...it keeps me motivated!
Hi Natalie, I ran into the same problem regarding my embroidery stuff, but I’m so pleased I kept it, as I’m now busy knitting and sewing for a Birthday and Christmas, all the best for your move and if you’re coming eastwards we are currently expecting more snow, have a great week and happy knitting.
Look at you go. You’ve inspired me to revisit my knitting stash and accessories. I did a clean up in January 2020. But it’s time to get it in shape again.
We are going to be decluttering soon. Our biggest thing is those trophies from childhood that have our names on them! Thankfully my yarn stash all has projects associated with it 🥰
This kind of minimalism is not for me, but I’m glad it makes you happy! My style changes and I also gift knit for people with different styles than me, so I like having a wide variety. Plus I’ve been out of work since the pandemic so having a large stash to pull from has been really nice. Good luck with your move! And yay for wearing hand knits more often :)
You inspired me to go through my stash one time. I told myself I was going to again at the end of January and if I didn't have specific projects in mind then it had to go. I haven't gone through it yet but this has definitely inspired me to get on it!
When it comes to moving and / or opening new chapters in life, I am somehow super emotional. So let me say it is one eye with a tear and one happy eye, who is excited to find out what happen soon, why it happen and what you feel about it.
I’ve been working on my yarn stash. I went through again yesterday & have a bunch that I will sell on EBay. I currently have some to sell & have sold some already. Over a year ago I destashed & gave it away to follow knitters or local churches that make prayer shawls.
Are the shelves from Ikea? I have been looking at them for SO LONG, but wasn’t sure if I wanted the commitment. But seeing yours in the corner and still looking like a ACCENT piece is making it easier to buy one. Thanks! Great declutter BTW!
Ooh Natalie, I’m so worried for you. How is your mother in law going to cope without you. Or is she moving too??? I recon you might be heading for Chicago or somewhere in Illinois. They get 4 months of snow!!!! You are going to freeze. Honestly, I wish you luck with the move and we are all here to speak with ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, I love your decluttering videos, they're extremely motivational 👍🏻👍🏻. What are the blocking mats for? I've been trying to figure it out and I can't 🤦🏼♀️
Come to the North East!! But you'll definitely need more than just a hat :) I'm loving the declutter, I need to take a look at my stash and do the same!
Hi your video links below go to a web browser and not you tube is that intentional? Thx It would be great for them to open here because I’m searching for them on your channel and it’s not as easy. Maybe it’s me. Thx
I only have one yarn bag and one whip bag which I keep my necessary items in and i never buy yarn if my yarn bag is full I knit blankets for a local pet rescue.
You are super organized!!!good for you to move,,,, Would love you to come to my messy room. And reorganize!!!! Thanks so much,,,, Need to tidy up,,,, Elaine
I have a lot of cheap acrylic yarn I was given and I'm slowly getting rid of it (by donating). Im having a hard time with giving it away though...the guilt hits.
I was given a lot of acrylic as well from another crafter but it's mostly single skeins or partial skeins. I also have a hard time with just giving it away so I've been making blankets and then donating them. That way I've made something useful and don't feel as guilty.

That's a great idea! People will love those blankets too!

Me too! But maybe we are getting there a little bit over time. Or we will never change 🤣
@@elvediaknits8635 hahahhahahhahaa yep. I'm a craft supply hoarder 🙈. I am trying to go through things and be more intentional, but it is harrrrrrrrrd

Congratulations on your impending move. Great job on paring down your possessions as the move towards minimalism seems to bring you joy.
So true! Thanks so much!
So excited for you on your move. Decluttering and de stashing is just so gratifying. And you get to start all over fresh again !!
Yes I can't wait to start fresh!

Haha, sounds like you're headed somewhere cold. Take it from the Canadian, keep that worsted weight yarn for the colder locations!
Yes! I will for sure need it!
I love decluttering - especially before a move!
So exciting! I can't wait to find out where! Here in SD, hand knits come in handy most of the year!

Also, we are moving too...so I've been doing some insane decluttering lately :). We are only moving 45 mins away though.
So excited you will be in a colder place! Can't wait to see!!

Good luck with the move! Looks like you got the packing under control 😄
Excited for you guys
Look at you go. You’ve inspired me to revisit my knitting stash and accessories. I did a clean up in January 2020. But it’s time to get it in shape again.
Yay! You can do it! I have to revisit every few months or so!
We are going to be decluttering soon. Our biggest thing is those trophies from childhood that have our names on them! Thankfully my yarn stash all has projects associated with it 🥰

That makes perfect sense! I definitely always need a little stash for emergencies. Thanks so much!

Aww thank you! This is definitely a happy move!
I find it interesting everyone picks different colors
So exciting for yo both!
So exciting! Maybe you’ll be a little closer to the North East!! 🤞🏻👍🏼
Congratulations on moving!!! Woo hoo!
Thank you!

Just going to say "Welcome to Wisconsin" in hopes you're moving close to where I live 😂 But seriously, congratulations on the move!!
Haha! Could be....
I would do it on this day OR the next one and IF i enjoy it right away i would keep it
Ooh Natalie, I’m so worried for you. How is your mother in law going to cope without you. Or is she moving too???

Great content, your video popped up in my feed. What planner do you use?
Come to the North East!! But you'll definitely need more than just a hat :) I'm loving the declutter, I need to take a look at my stash and do the same!
Ooh maybe!!! Haha for sure! I'm going to need all the knit accessories! Yay!
going to miss you wish i could’ve meet you. (i live in texas DFW area too!) have a safe move. 💜
How many sets of needles do you have? Thats my hang up. I get vintage ones as well. I hate to get rid of them
Best way to get rid of yarn stash is to knit with it!!
But what if you can't knit fast enough??? 😂😂
Good job nat
Thanks so much!
@@KnittyNatty You are most welcome!
The irony of a LoveCrafts email saying “stock up on stack essentials” as I’m watching this
😂😂😂😂
I had that one too.... tripping over boxes of stuff at the moment!

I spied a little Arkansas yarn co cozy!
I have been looking for that book the Knitting Comfortably, can I buy it from you, please, please
Congrats on the successful declutter and the move. My guesses are Oregon or Tennessee?
So impressive. What do you do with yarn that is left over from a completed project? That is my biggest challenge.
I wind off 20 grams for my scrappy projects and throw away the rest!
Congrats on the move. It sounds like your moving somewhere cold.
I am! Brrrr 🥶🥶
Hello from Mounds Illinois
Maybe NC or NJ. Wish it would be Charlotte
Good morning everyone from sunny California. Natty I have a bag of bags too.
I only have one yarn bag and one whip bag which I keep my necessary items in and i never buy yarn if my yarn bag is full I knit blankets for a local pet rescue.

You are super organized!!!good for you to move,,,,
Would love you to come to my messy room. And reorganize!!!!

So you are going to a colder climate?! We left NJ for NC hoping to get warmer weather but not too warm. I’m excited to follow your journey!
Yup! Colder! Ooh I love North Carolina!

Did you like knit purl pray? It’s been in my wishlist forever!
Yes I liked it!
I was so close. I guessed 40 skeins of yarn
I donate unwanted wool to senior homes that knit squares for pet blankets
☺️ for you 🥲 you’ll be moving
I know 😩😭
My guess is 32.
Where is the swan bag from? So pretty
Swan bag is Danica Studios. I got it from Hill Country Weavers in Austin, TX!
Do a yarn giveaway someone would appreciate it
