Thanks for watching! What else would you add to the list? 👀
Can someone pursue data analytics as an UG degree in colleges ?
Hey Sundas I hope you're doing alright. I wanted to refer to the point that you brought up "You don't need to become a data analyst before becoming a data scientist". I know we don't necessarily NEED TO become a data analyst to become a data scientist but since the marathon for the junior data scientist job is much more competitive; and there are much less number of entry-level data scientist jobs as compared to data analytics, isn't data analyst a good entry level job to get into the data science world?
I would love to hear your remarks on this take. :))
Can you please elaborate various roles under data science and how to study on one of them particularly?
Sundas, the good thing about your vids is the sense of detecting “fooling yourself tendencies”- i loved the last part about tutorials trap. Your vids are so much compatible with the way everyone starts to compliment himself of fooling himself into figuring it all, seriously a big thank you. I haven’t yet watched a lot of your vids about Data science/ analysis career path but I hope to get to know about road maps from you.
Amazing video
For Data Science enthusiasts, this is one of the best reality check videos to ensure you take care of yourself while learning and becoming a Data Scientist.
Please explain me what is data science and. I am. From. Bba background no idea of. Coding i don't know how to operate computer I don't know what. To. Do
I just graduated from. Clg I am. Very. Confused about. Master.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR AMAZING GUIDANCE! I REALLY ADMIRE YOUR WAY OF EXPLAINING WHEN YOU REPEAT THINGS FOR EMPHASIS AND SUMMARISING, THAT'S A VERY PRO MOVE! THANKS A LOT!
Thanks for sharing. I have a strong background in applied math, statistics and theoretical physics so that I had with me from start and built with lots of machince learning and deep learning. For that reason I might be biased towards learning to code. But I think that maybe you might need to know both skills at the start and build in parallel. For instance if you know computer science it might help you to desing algorithms when it comes to computing space and time. One nice thing with coding is that you can test machine learning algorithms from start and see the messiness of working with data. Tank you!
Really great video--subscribed! Thank you for making this path so much clearer.
Being a data scientist myself, I can see the traditional role evolving the last year. And what I say depends a lot on the company you work for too. You need to have in depth knowledge in ML and maths (and it’s not just statistics, which is still top priority, but also linear algebra, a bit of geometry etc) and unfortunately you still need to do a lot of coding. Being a good programmer gives you super power to learn and implement anything old and new in ML with greater ease. Now, if you’re into a research role, you might just need to code experiments. And things might be different in a big company vs a start up. But I think the trend right now is having in depth knowledge in ML/maths along with really good coding skills.
Iam just completed class 12th
Now iam confused to choose BE in cse or specialization like cse in AIML or cse in data science , Can you give any suggestions?
Very valuable insights. Thank you.
You helped me get over my fear of coding. The way you speak enthusiastically about it 😅
Love your videos! Thank you! ❤😊
Thank you!! Great explanations that were useful for me.
This video is great and practical. You're a real data scientist who has been working at tech companies for many years. I'm glad you share the real experience. Keep up the great work! Thanks!
Amazin advice! I agree! Im a Sr. Data analyst. I know sql and python but not a data scientist ready yet. I need to study more xD Please make more videos on how to get the first role as Data scientist.
Thanks a lot! This is so helpful.
Hi Sundas,
Congratulations for presenting this useful video.
The suggestions are practical based on experience.
Thanks for this info! I found it very useful 😊
Thanks for the video.
make a video on different career paths in data science. Like you mentioned ai product manager and such, what others are there? what do these jobs do & and what skills are required for those roles.
Thankyou for the valuable information!
Excellent video 👍
Very nice analysis of current data science profile and helpful insights keep going.
thank you for nice ideas for data scienctist
*Hi Sundas. Glad to see the notification. I enjoy the video and hopefully it will be helpful to me. Thank you for sharing about 10 learning mistakes that we data scientist must avoid. Keep great topic up! 💻🥪🍵*
thanks for the tips!!!
Hi Sundas, Thank you for creating interesting video all the time. My question is how would the so-called “Customer Insights” role be positioned relative to data scientist or data analyst etc in your role classification world? Just curious to know what you’d think.
Happy to see this topic.

thank you!
Love your videos! I would like to ask do I need to study a degree in data science to get into this field?
thank you
Could you make a video for prompt engineer? How it’s related to data science?
My background is in data and AI. I'd like to specialize in data science, but I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to do data engineering first. What are your thoughts on this ?
There's lot of theory...and when I say a lot I mean A LOT.
In my country we're very used to study a lot of theory in any university field (and the issue is that it is usually too little practice) but in the case of D.Science it's very useful.
Too many people on YT treat D.Science just like it's all about running some ML algorithms using R or Python...
As a car mechanic knows how to use many tools, knowing many tools doesn't make you a mechanic 😉
The "Tutorial" chapter made me thing that in any subfield of D.Science there's smooth activities and difficult ones: tutorial are usually about "how to" concerning coding....but, you know what's one of the most time-wasting activity you have to be used to while coding (for anything) debugging, debugging, debugging and debugging. As designing algorithms (of any kind) can be challenging, you don't how much time you could waste if you lack the right mindset and calm to be used to "apparently ununderstandable" reasons that stop your projects.
Thank you miss
Thank you
Hi Sundas ,
Can you please advice me do i need to become data analyst before going in to the data engineer .
if not please advice me what to do ?
Mistakes
1) starting with coding
2) becoming a data analyst before data scientist
3) believe that data scientist as a job title is the only available role in the field
4) moving backward without a roadmap
5) searching for jobs before practicing
6) avoiding generative AI
7) moving beyond regression
8) Math is important but not really
9) falling into tutorial trap (watching courses without applying on projects and practicing)
Well I am just going to finish my 12 in india PCM in india and stormed through various jobs and it picked my interest. So my maths is 80% strong.I want to work in a company and reach a okay position and learn business stuff and start up a company
Please guide me and what to do
thank you clarifying about data analytics and data scientist roles clearly Sundas Khilid.. I have learned data science i have learned ML.. and could you please explain what is data engineer role ?
im basically a software engineer, but undergraduate, i want to become a data scientist, i have a idea to do a bachlor degree in data science, waht is the good sources for self study?
yes, it's so easy to lose the skillsets. which is why employers prefer employed folks.
Moving beyond regression? could be misleading no? might lead to shallow learning?
Thanks of this valueable video! But number 8 mistake is missing - so edit the title 10 to 9 as numerical correct ;)
randomly this video popped in my recommendation list. I got my first job through a DS course I did. What nobody tells anybody is a core DS role in any huge scale org is not a dev job but more on the operations vertical in any MNC. I studied DS and ended working as a Splunk Admin and dev for 5 years and now working as a SSE for dynatrace on the observability domain. DS is just an umbrella term and there are so many job roles and responsibilities that you'll end up working as something else in the long run and that somehow worked for me as well lol...
Hey what degree should I take if I want to be a data analyst
@@user-ve3ur1ci7u technically speaking you don't need any degree to be a data analyst because again its more about operations level where you will be making excel files on specific data and then onboard them into power bi or tableau and make beautiful dashboards for stake holders. You would need a bachelors degree tbh and the ones I know usually have a BE or a BTech degree in india.
@@JarlinJamesNDK13 Okay is it good to take BA after doing Btech because I personally don’t know much about business or it too much I mean not that necessary?
@@user-ve3ur1ci7u BA ? business analyst ?
As a beginner (literal beginner), I’m so lost on where to start.
can re-explain the types of projects we have to do?
I need to know the job descriptions with the demand on it. And get a road its really hard to differ between titles and no Road map is clear.
Can you talk about data analytics and how it is relevant or not relevant for accountants.
Dear Sundas I have been watching you for a long time, I research a lot and now decided to become a data scientist. But I don't have a tech background so is that suitable for me and Do I have to get a degree in it? By the way enjoy your videos.
I saw your first video 2 years ago and decided to learn Data Science along with my 9 to 5 job.
I got 3 to 4 offers but i want to work as a remote or part time Data Scientist.
I don't know where to practice my skills and work in the evening shift or remote job.... Still going slowly but....
What stream did u choosed to become data scientist?
Maths - Statics & probability
Machine learning
Programming
Can you make a video about same topic but in Data Analytics
Easy route is following the Google courses in order.
hello , you gain a new regular viewer .
Welcome!
Hi Sundas, I can see you didn't replied to most comments still asking. I work as Business Analyst in software firm & looking for opportunity with Google. Do you have any suggestions in it.
Hello Mam, I hope you are doing good! I need your guidance in choosing my career. Actually, I am an international student at Deakin University Melbourne Australia. I am doing a bachelor of computer science here majoring in data science. I don't have a previous maths background as I did my 11th and 12th in Commerce. So I wanted to that what kind of maths is required to become or step into the field of data science. I am following your RUclips channel and you posted the video for the same topic. But then I also I am bit confused. So can you please guide me with this.
About not being a data analyst before data scientist: no is hiring young data scientist / junior data scientist. I have a lot of data scientist and ml coursework and some experience and I haven’t heard a single phone call in two years of applying :-(
Coding is to Data science as Calculator is to maths. You can do math and data science without the tools, but that would need a lot of manual effort
Are Data Structure Leetcode questions asked in Coding(Python) for data Science roles? Or should we focus only on data manipulation i.e. numpy, pandas etc.
Well I am fit to ans this que since I myself work as a Data Analyst. Data structures are not very relevant for fresher level jobs but some companies do put up a machine round of DSA to cut competition. But if you are a beginner...I would suggest you to focus mainly on numpy, pandas and matplotlib.
Hi Sundas, I work as business analyst for 14 years and I am 36 years old. Is there any chance of I can switch to data science at this age?
I don't have data science or computer science background. Can I still get a job as data scientist? I saw many companies put related degree as one of a requirement...
same question
Can you make a portfolio for data scientist
you said data analyst and data scientists are two different things but the problem is mostly jobs of data science want Masters degree in data science, so for a graduate student of (CS) is it not worth that he do data analyst job till his Masters degree completion????
I watch your videos, can you make a video on data engineer road map
Can anyone let me know which role under data scientist deals with already created models i mean the models which are ready to work regression or classification.!!
Cool
Which is better in usa, data scientist or AI?
I am a final-year student pursuing information technology at a Tier-3 college. My aim is to be a data scientist. After watching so many roadmap videos, I found yours explaining the core skills required. Python wasn't one of my subjects, and I didn't have anyone to guide me in learning coding languages apart from my syllabus. I am going to pursue my master's degree abroad; the class starts in the month of July. I am still lacking confidence in what to learn. Will I be able to stand out in the crowd? I request experts as well as the creator to help me learn the appropriate skills that are required to be learned before the class starts so that I can cope and also learn and be confident. Please comment.
Well sir I don't have any answers for you but I have a question..
I'm from India, just passed 12th standard and now going for my 1 St yr in college and I need a guidance on whether I persue Bsc(statistics) in Data Science or to go for the IT and then Data science..?? I will appreciate your explanation sir..
@@chiragprajapathi3442 If you are very sure that you want to work in data science field roles then take BSc Statistics and then do a master's in data science. (again, it depends on the curriculum) . If your course covers all aspects of data sci then please go for it else if it has a strong emphasis on stats only then do a master's degree in data science or any course that would cover them all, work on projects, and build a strong profile.
Already am in my final year in a degree of statistics.
Am interested in field data science
They thought us R as statistical software. I also took a short certificate on advanced excel, spss and stata. Currently am taking python for data analysis from coursera also I do watch different RUclips videos. Sometimes I learnt many things and I don't when and we're to apply😂
Plz any advice
Nope got to this video cause I enjoy your content.
Glad you got to this video!
Just discovered your channel ! Your video looks straight to point..
Oh Me ? I'm gonna start learning in BS Data Science from the top institute of India
But it is an online degree..means u have to learn online
Do u think I would be eligible to get jobs if I learn data science completely online?
Can i start to learn first data science & machine learning then go to the data analysis ?
Depends what your end goal is? do you want to become a data analyst or data scientist?
Is DSA actually required for data science? Should I focus on dsa (leetcode) or not ? I'm a data science aspirant.
Same doubt brother if you find the answer reply me here
In my college 100% companies came required DSA that's why I am learning DSA
Hi Sundas I am 8 years experience into Testing field Thinking to switch to Data scientist. What do you suggest ?
What stream u choosed
I'm a python developer if today I kick start my career as python based backend engineer will I be able to navigate to data sciences and then ML or should I stay back and learn about data sciences and start my career as DS ?
If you are passionate about a career as a data scientist, then why not go for it and try it out. That’s the only way to find out.
hello mam, I'm from India can you please the system requirements for laptop for data science?
Depends on type of software u run
This very helpful. Thank you so much❤
I'm 44 and want to switch from finance to data science, as a first step I think of getting a master degree in data science...do you think there is still place for people like me?
Hey may I know the reason of switching bcoz I am data science student right now and want to switch the finance side after the graduation

are you a data sciencetist ?
Dear Sundas I have been watching you for a long time, I research a lot and now decided to brcome a data scientist. But I don't have a tech background so is that suitable for me and Do I have to get a degree in it?
No definitely not..I myself is a Maths graduate transitioned to Data Analytics. A purely self taught person.
I have few questions for you
1- company like google want master in data science? I am bca student and have relevant courses and skill to the data science is it ok with them?
2- as a online learner all the topic related to data science like nlp, deep learning are separated due to different online resources so where I can learn them.
3- I can't learn all because I am full time colledge student so what's are the mandatory topic nad tool that I have to learn
I like those several options
