Maybe it's not appropriate to judge whether the magnitude of laid off numbers toward data scientists is big or not. The absolute numbers vary greatly between different roles (such as SWE, DS, HR, ...), making it difficult to assess based solely on the laid-off groups.
That’s fair. There are far more SWEs than data science folks. The study is also dependent on self-reporting so could be biased due to that (like most self-reported studies) but that’s the numbers we have. If you have additional insights, would love to hear.

I'm currently in school and was deciding specifically between Cybersecurity and Data Science. A lot of the problem I'm seeing is when I'm getting salary quotes people are talking about Data Analyst but quoting Data Scientist pay. A degree in Computer Science is a career change for me, so I'm not sure I have time to go straight into a master's program. Is there a way to go straight in to Data Science with just a BS in Computer Science? I'm also VERY interested in WFH, my mom worked from home from 97-17 for IBM as a Data Analyst. Is there a better path to get than either Cybersecurity or Data Science? I'm only in semester 3 of my post-bacc so learning now would be great.
I think CS helps with coding skills and thinking patterns. But no matter what you end up choosing, it will be helpful to take a few math and stats classes. I have a background in math and stats which are easy for me, but I regret not taking any coding classes (esp python). You also should take probability classes too.
I have a question: I am a biology graduate (studied in French). I am planning to shift to data science. I’ve seen in many comments and posts that to be a data scientist, you need to learn statistics because it’s the core of data science. I want to obtain a university degree to ensure I have a good understanding of this field and leave room for future career development. I am committed to this path; I know it will be long and hard, but I want to choose the right undergraduate path. Should I study computer science because I have no knowledge of programming and coding, or should I major in statistics and add data analytics as a minor? Alternatively, is a community college sufficient to avoid wasting time and start learning while working, or should I just take a certificate on Coursera or any institute to become a data analyst and then start my journey to reach the highest position level? I am so confused; please help
Thanks for watching! What are your thoughts on the future of data science career?

I am an accountant and planning to make a career switch to data scientist. Do you think I have take a part-time IT degree to become a data scientist role?
Always helpful content. Thank you
please bring a session how to to do revision for data science concepts in a fast and effective way
thank you this video really helped me alot......
I am having interest in coding so can you guide me should I do BS DS or BS AI
Good thoughts on this crucial topic.
Is it good for a experienced developer to switch to data science?
You are amazing! Thank you
Plz tell the best books for data science
hello first of all thank you very much as your video is very successful and intuitive I think for people who confused in this area with the redundant and wrong information, I woul dlike ask how AI will effect data science world? after 5 years do you think companies still need human data scientists?
I just graduated from BTech CSE , can I still start learning Data Science and get a job in it or should I choose any other field ? I'm kinda getting serious about jobs now 🙃. Do I still have hope?
You definitely have and you can do for sure... It's never too late.. This time do your research throughly on field you are interested in and follow the roadmap with passion and consistency then you will be soon there... Personal advice mm don't loose sleep to avoid burnouts
Sadly for fresher getting into this job is near impossible
Yes it is don't do only data scientist, understand what you wanna do ,like example learn Business analyst+ data scientist
Newbie here. I recently enrolled in Eastern University MS in Data Science. If anyone is familiar with that program your feedback would be golden
Hello there... I'm a 10th grader and can you please tell me if you learnt coding before pursuing Data science? Thankyou
