I am not from the IT sector and I feel that technologies like GPT could replace us. Therefore, I am thinking of learning a new skill from scratch. I believe it is important to understand how to work with AIs like GPTs or how to operate them by learning computer science and programming. However, I am also confused because I have seen programmers and programming learners discussing how they might lose their jobs because of AIs like GPT. Additionally, seeing experienced computer scientists and engineers like yourself working on social media has made me doubt whether I should devote my time to start learning programming and computer science. I am already in my 40s and it would mean a lot to my family if something I learn now will allow me to secure a job in case I lose my current job. I hope you can help me by providing some real insights into the industry’s job prospects. Thank you in advance for your advice!
I'm kind of in the same boat you are. I'm 48 and was laid off in November from a 15 year career as a mortgage underwriter. I need to start a new career in a new field. I didn't grow up on computers and tech like the younger generations have, so much of this is going to be all new to me.
No, it won't, at least in the foreseeable future. Machine doesn't have free will and common sense like we do. Current AI can't even solve a difficult high school math question. Bipedal Robots still can't walk stablely in 2024 just as like they were in 1964.

Definitely not. Probably gon get you entry level shit but that’s the point, once you get a job/internship… just keep learning and improving. We will end up in a big company 🤞🏾

With these online certifications, it's even difficult to land your first intership, forget Faang
So in summary, you need to have an understanding of statistics (descriptive and inferential) and how to use it in Excel or Google Sheets, know how to use programs like SQL and Python, visualization tools like Tableau, and have soft skills like communication. This helps a lot to be a good data analyst.

I did not expect to learn that Excel is an important skill to have as a Data Analyst. This bodes well for me. I probably am like 2% of the way there 😅
Is it a valid and realistic approach to start as data analyst before getting into machine learning engineer? because of a reason that MLE has no entry level job and data analyst is the only job to get data experience that is use for MLE.

Already using Looker Studio in my work in Digital Marketing & Web Analytics, will be interesting to see how different Tableau & Power Bi are compared to Looker Studio. In my opinion, learning the basics in Looker Studio was very easy, but I don't expect the same from the other tools. One thing I have never needed to do in Marketing Analytics / Web Analytics, is data blending, because there are 3rd party connectors in Looker Studio that do it for me, so I am looking forward to learning more proper ways to work data 😅
