As a Norwegian I get pneumonia just looking at it (remembering with disbelief the bootie shorts and mini skirts I wore clubbing in the same climate sans pantyhose roughly ten years ago).
This was so much fun! If you're starting a new series in this style though, I'd love to hear more from the owners as a sort of setup. What kind of style do they usually like and what are they looking for? What made them want to rent out the place and what would be functional for it? The makeover was amazing but I'd love to build some more investment in the space =)
Totally agree -- and I'd like more of the thought of what went into the decision-making for the style of the space. What you envisioned before the makeover, what worked, what you had to change.
I feel like the before and after shots could be slowed down a bit so you can really take in and appreciate the changes made. Also include the owners a bit more and give a little more of their side of the story.
My guess is they are related to carol and Dave. The sort of scolding way they said “don’t touch the paneling” made me feel like these were reluctant relatives that had agreed to this as a favor.
And that would also maybe explain why they didn’t give us any back story on who carol and Dave are, what they intend to use this space for, what style they wanted, etc. Clearly the sorry girls just wanted to focus on themselves and what they want.
@@carsonokeeffe agreed, I mean I get that RUclips has video limits it may cost more I'm not really sure how that works really I just know it's a thing. It really felt rushed and lacking in planning unlike like their other videos. The owners might not have been up to being on video that much or open to it like that but because not much was said about it we really don't know. In a way it really felt like they rented it out, pimped it out and then surprised the owners, like guess what! 🙂
That was so great! Well done. I would like to see some "behind the scenes" episode. I'm just curious: where did you stay/sleep, how many days it actually took, did you visit it before to measure everything and decide the design. Also, how long it took to convince the owners to give a "green light" for some huge changes. Love the new series, very excited for my fav DIY-ers.
How did you find these people to make over their space? I’m confused.... I like how everything came together but def need more backstory about the people/space it seems kinda random
@@vidyakrishnan4542 yeah strange changes. The white light in the bathroom looked cheap. The short curtain on the door window. The finish of the bed head on the corners was shocking. The bed linen needed steaming. The TV unit looked bizarre. I hope they didn't pay much to have it done.
I love this new series, but I wished you talked about the people who owned th space more. I didn't feel connected like I usually do when you make over people's spaces.
YES! The small TV is so awkward. I thought they were going to come up with a real fix for that. And the pink accents were awful. I can understand the red in a cabin, but pink didn't feel right for the space.
LOVE the concept, huge congratulations on your hard work paying off 🎉 only thing I would like different is that you are more natural and "honest" about the process, less scripted... Be yourselves, we already love you ☺️
Great makeover! This new series seems a bit awkward without having the context of what the home owners are looking for, and how it will improve their space, and the functionality / $$$ of the air bnb. The new style music really emphasizes the awkwardness and staged qualities of the scenes, and the jokes and interactions seems a bit more forced than usual. There’s so much potential for this series, just needs some fine tuning to bring the audience into it so we can relate more.
Picky Femme, why do people thinks it’s necessary to be so rude about the video. you call it “constructive feedback” but it’s not your youtube channel stfu
The white kitchen is looking so fresh and clean. I also love the black paint, it highlights the other wood paneling really well. Great job on the makeover!
Love this, but the beginning with the owners was rough! Maybe choose one of you to be the point person who says “[insert name] it’s so good to see you, thank you so much for opening your space up to us! Final thoughts before we start? [Their thoughts]... Great! Let’s go get started!”
Everytime I watch you guys do big heavy duty DIY projects or painting, I’m always wondering if yous are comfy in the stunning outfits you wear or if you secretly think “I want to change into my sweats” 🤣 cause I know what I’d be wearing lol. Xx
Hey guys, amazing video! I am so fired up about the new series. One piece of feedback would be more "before" shots or longer ones when you are showing the "after". It shows the impact of your work more clearly!! I know we had a quick shot of the entire place but the kitchen bathroom and bedroom would have been good to include "before" shots of.
I agree lol, the smaller tv was the only thing that really stood out to me as like a ... why would you do that. especially when they couple had centred the living room around the tv, they must use it a lot. Plus i almost thing the smaller one looked worse. Very cute still tho loved the makeover just
Agreed, the smaller TV made the space appear smaller and not larger; similar to when someone uses too small of a rug for example, or hangs their curtains too low and close to the window
I know there are lots of comments like this, but it would be great to have a format you follow for each episode. Introduction in van, meet with owners (shake their hands or hug or something!), background/history of rental, what they'd like improved, overview of space, basic plan for makeover, actual makeover, your own reactions, owners reaction, walk through of new space, end thoughts. Super glad you're doing this series! :)
I LOVE this! I'm so excited for more! Also Fenelon Falls is very near us and is such a lovely place. My only criticism is that you spent the *entire* reaction section talking about what *you* think. I get you were nervous, but girls we just had 25 minutes of your thoughts. We want to see what THEY think about their space. You never gave them time to ever truly react, instead they only got the opportunity to briefly agree with you before the subject was changed again. You're normally so much better than that! You normally give more reaction time! I hope this was just nerves or whatever and you'll give the owners more voice in the future.
I think this was the first cabin renovation I've seen. This was such a refreshing video to watch! That was a difficult space to work with because of the ceiling.
I disagree. I see where you’re coming from, but I think they did a good job of seeming more professional and including some “blooper” moments that let their personalities shine through. I liked that they talked about the progress of the room over coffee, and not just standing in the room like the normally do during their room makeovers
Yeah I feel like a lot of the commentary was TV like and that is not why I like RUclips. I like the authenticity all the RUclipsr without it feeling like they wrote a script
Excited for the change-up in content! I do think that there's obviously a lot of behind the scenes planning and DIY-ing that wasn't shown and I definitely wouldn't mind additional cut-ins of those moments. The SorryGirls style of "this is how it works in real life" is one of my favorite parts of your 'vibe'.
This has got to be the result of one of the grants Kelsey slaved over. It’s definitely TV quality, but I gotta say, you have committed some of the sins that HGTV is guilty of. Your outfits (heels?!?!) don’t feel appropriate for what you’re doing, and some of your conversations just feel too scripted. It was so great when your usual banter shone through (rug-rets!!!). That said, it was still a great example of the work you do and feels so achievable for the rest of us. Can’t wait to see the rest of the series and how you ladies settle into your roles. :)
You know ladies, I love the show with the humor. Who cares if everything wasn't perfect. I think you girls did awesome. Don't let the negative comments get you down................ Keep it up, I look forward to your next video...
This is such a fun idea. The place is so inviting now. Changing the bed space made such a difference. Love! Looking forward to more videos in this series.
Loved the makeover, definitely with Kelsey on the joy of peeling the plastic off the fridge, BUT CHANGE THE DOOR SWING!!!! Super easy to do and makes a huge difference in the flow.
Production value and idea are amazing! But there was a thing I couldn't ignore: music. It was all over the place and confusing : badass rock music, royalty free "comic bits" music, then romantic music for assembling furniture, but next time furniture is assembled to rock music again, the reflection part was using spa/royalty free inspo music. It made me feel like episode was edited by 3 different people who had their own "vide" for the video. Some people feel this was forced, I blame it on editing choices, rather than girls actually being "fake".
Great work guys!! All that hard work of getting applications and proposals done was soooo worth it, this is going to be an awesome series!! Can't wait for more episodes!
I love this as a series! When I heard the intro, for some reason I thought you were going to do it without telling the owners. Then when you checked out you'd be like "Surprise! See ya!"
Omg guys! Such a great episode, love this new series. Cute ideas with the driving scene of what you want to do, check in with the owners and the morning coffee meeting of when needs to be done to upgrade the space and would you love about the space. Would like if the owners would tell you what doesn’t work in the space for guests and a few things they don’t want you to mess with, a lil challenge added 🥰
Amazing makeover! You can tell from the owner's reaction that they were pleased. So respectful using items they already had. There is nothing that the Sorry Girls can't do and I am enjoying this new series.
YES this reminds me of one of my favorite shows ever, Stay Here with Genevieve Gorder on Netflix. Super excited for this guys, great idea! I agree with some of the other comments that some context about the owners and the space at the beginning of the video would take this to the next level.
This is my favorite series you all have done! So cute and easily inspirational for my home. It just goes to show how one painted wall, a few simple changes, and some decor can change the entire space! Love!
Love this concept but don't love the overprdouction feel of a tv show, it's not what I want from youtube. I would also like to know more about the owners, how you found them, where you got the things from etc.
This is incredible... the quality of this production is better than some shows I’ve seen on TV. You’ve really got something with this new series. Congratulations!
Idk how I feel about this new series. I mean well done for sure, but at times it felt a little too rehearsed/staged/produced, instead of spontaneous, genuine and personal. Maybe you guys will work out kinks tho. Congrats on the new success
Loved it girls :-) seems like your taking in this new style whilst staying true to yourselves & what you do best!! Love that you're still mixing new buys with diy's and what is owned already but putting in a new space!! Have watched you girls for years & still excited to see a new video come out!! Thanks for keeping me sane :-)
I think this is a great way to work with spaces that arent just open and white rectangles. Also its great to see more styles explored than just the big 3 (boho, minimalist, farmhouse) im excited for more
Literally EVERYTHING about this is amaaaaazing, I'm so happy to see this secret project finally come to life 😍 You girls really did an amazing job, I'm loving this new series
I can't believe you guys are just throwing that amazing project into our face just like that! I'm so incredibly proud of the SG Team for making a tiny "DH&H program"! Hope soon this could turn out so much bigger!!!!!! All my love for you 💓💓💓
"This video was produced with the financial participation and support of the Bell Fund and Ontario Creates." They were saying in a video awhile ago they were filling out grant applications so this must have been approved. Government arts funding in Canada is pretty interesting, and it's cool to see RUclipsrs making Canadian content like this with grants. I hope the Sorry Girls focus a little more on the interesting aspects of the regions they are travelling to in the future but it was definitely cool to have a higher production budget with drone shots.
I really like the changes you guys made! Looking forward to you guys being more comfortable with this format and rocking new places! I love the idea and know you’ll grow into it.
This was awesome! 😁 You guys must be so proud of this series, can't wait for the rest 😍 And I love that your van has macrame and a hanging plant, so on brand 😂 xx
Not really a fan of how this was produced. The video felt awkward, rehearsed, and unfinished. The tv stand was a miss for sure, it just looks like plywood painted black. Also the premise seems odd. You're staying the night there, but you obviously aren't because there's at least three of you and no bed? Felt like low budget HGTV. It took me 4 or 5 sittings to get through this video.
Nicely done! I really wasn't sure about taking the wonderful mid-century shades off those cool lamps, but in this setting the new shades makes them more cohesive with everything else, and showcases the base much better. This surprised me. You really know what you're doing, and I'm sure they'll keep the shades safe to be reunited at some point in the future. Really nice job.
Wha?!?!?! Omgosh! How fun!!! I love this concept! I wish the homeowners would have let you paint the bathroom. Especially since they didn’t want you to change the orange tones wood walls. But your small changes made a big impact! I loved it!
I think we missed a perfect opportunity when making the mounted headboard.. it could have been a "mountain" headboard where you make it in the shape of a mountain ridge line and still mount it on the wall as a normal head board
This was so amazing!! I love that you guys are trying new things, without loosing the things that make your channel so awesome. You guys are killing it!!
I'd really like an episode revisiting these hosts down the road to see how or if they've kept your changes and how it's impacted them! Really enjoying this series though!
I had to Google where this was because I thought, "Hmmmm, Fenelon Falls? Never heard of it." Even though I'm from Northern Ontario too (a former Cochranite). Cochrane is 7 hours north of Fenelon Falls, and Fenelon Falls is only 3 hours north of London, which is where I now reside, lol.
New series alert! I know I’m late to the game but absolutely loved this episode! Love how talented and creative you both are. The quality of this episode is amazing considering a similar TV show would take over a hundred members of staff, major budget and time taken. I’m honestly so proud of you both and your whole team. Keep going!
Waw girls, Congratulations 🥳 I enjoyed this so much! So creative and fun. The filming and editing was on top and the transformation of the cabin was so good! Can’t wait to see the next episode 😘
How cool! First watching the episode I was like wow, the van is so packed with stuff it's spilling into the front. At the end of the episode, I realized they decorated the van with the macrame and plant!
OKAYYYY YOU GUYS ARE KILLIN IT! First of all these episodes are edited BEAUTIFULLY GOD DAMN. And Becky with her jokes omg I'm living for you two always
OMG I love this style!!! This is a similar feel to the American pickers on TV but sorry girl style!!! I cannot wait for more episodes of this! You need your own TV show now :) xxx
OMG!! Is this the new SUPER secret project you’ve been working on?!!?! 😱😱😍😍😍

Vanna White? lol

Yes great idea!

Yes, a bit of friendly conversation with the owners about themselves, the area and more of their reactions to the changes.
I agree with this suggestion! Also would love to know about the location and anything the owners are struggling with / want to change.
1. I love this concept for a show. 2. I love that the van has a hanging plant and macrame divider. So perfect!
Omg sameeee
Same! Except I hate the macrame, and the plant looks like it’s screaming “save me from this life of pain” 🙂

I always enjoy your content but I was just smiling through this whole video. This is IT! Yes!
I love the low-key vibe of this show. Not sensational like american deco shows. Keep up the good work ladies!
The editing and quality of this video is incredible! I love this new series.
I love love love the vibes of this video. So chill and calming. I'll watch this whenever I'm in a bad mood.
The intro, the edit, the production - I thought you got some kind of tv deal! Great job!
I think this is a great way to work with spaces that arent just open and white rectangles. Also its great to see more styles explored than just the big 3 (boho, minimalist, farmhouse) im excited for more
Literally EVERYTHING about this is amaaaaazing, I'm so happy to see this secret project finally come to life 😍
You girls really did an amazing job, I'm loving this new series
I can't believe you guys are just throwing that amazing project into our face just like that! I'm so incredibly proud of the SG Team for making a tiny "DH&H program"! Hope soon this could turn out so much bigger!!!!!! All my love for you 💓💓💓
I LOVE YOU GUYS. Think you're headed for the BIG TIME girls, such great candid personalities & creative talents! Cheers ❤
Kelsey when you swiped the goodies from the workshop, that's me every time I visit my parents. They have the best stuff laying around!
WOAHHHH.... where is this production quality come from!??Awesome series.
I’ve been binge watching all of your videos lately and I really appreciate the production value of every thing y’all do.
Damn guys this is so great and looks and feels so professional! Amazing job, love me a good make over series 🥰😍
I love that the owners are real people with real reactions, not hired actors.
This was amazing! You should be so proud! Would love to see a behind the scenes on how this series was made!
same!
OK WOW LADIES YES!!!! Not even past the title sequence and I am HERE for this series!!!!
I love the sorry girls but they often make mistakes for just not being careful enough. 24:42 that courtain being shorter than the window is killing me
I really like the changes you guys made!
Seriously one of my favorite channels on RUclips! You guys need a show on Netflix or something!
Cozy winter cabin? How can I resist?
I KNOW
Canadian catnip! xD
Omg. Kelsey wearing short sleeves in SNOW in CANADA in WINTER. You know she's a true Canadian
Becky everything is so blacky!!😜
Loved it!!🥰🥰♥️
This is amazing! Such a fab series idea I can’t wait to see more! I’d love to see some behind the scenes vlogs as well!
Love this new series! So excited to take some ideas from here for my Cape Breton cabin. Can’t wait to see more. The first episode was 😍😍😍😍🎉
Gives new meaning to leaving a place better than it was when you got there!
love this series already!!!! Cant wait for an upgrade to a Muskoka cabin/cottage in the summer!
Wha?!?!?! Omgosh!
When is there coming more episodes of Making Home?❤️❤️❤️
The next episode is half done!
CAN’T WAIT!!!!😍❤️
Perfect COVID-19 videos! I've been so busy I didn't even know about the series!
I feel like this series and the one following Kelsey's house progress could be on HGTV. You all are doing a great job!
awe!!!! the owners seemed so sweet! i love the space before but it’s even more cozy after. what a cute idea for a series!
Where can we find that globe light you were originally using for the bathroom? It’s soo cute 🥰
Jacqueline Louise I loved it
I think IKEA has it (or similar)
I'd really like an episode revisiting these hosts down the road to see how or if they've kept your changes and how it's impacted them! Really enjoying this series though!
I love the new series!!
I also love that “Northern Ontario” to you is still “Southern Ontario” to me. 😂 I’m 3-4 hrs north of Fenelon Falls
I laughed when living in Sudbury, and people said that was Northern Ontario 🙈 just such a massive province!
@@ldg44 Totally! A lot of people don't realize how expansive it is...until you have to drive across it! 😂
At the end of the episode, I realized they decorated the van with the macrame and plant!
giving me american picker vibes in the beginning haha. excited for this series!!!
OKAYYYY YOU GUYS ARE KILLIN IT! First of all these episodes are edited BEAUTIFULLY GOD DAMN. And Becky with her jokes omg I'm living for you two always
I'm so happy for the sorrygirls team, this series is already so good! Well worth the anticipation and all those funding apps :)
OMG I love this style!!! This is a similar feel to the American pickers on TV but sorry girl style!!! I cannot wait for more episodes of this! You need your own TV show now :) xxx
