I will always say this is the greatest moment in Irish Rugby history with in my life time. The control and sheer determination to win was with out a doubt just purely spectacular.
Absolutely magnificent- had it all - French fans belting out Allez Le Blues - huge control by the Irish and massive tackling by the French - and Sexton cool as an Irish cucumber pops it over - up there with greatest hits of Rugby dramatic moments - bring on th e 6 Nations x
Hard to believe any team could go through that amount of phases under that sort of pressure against a defiant French defence and not knock the ball on and then to win it like that in Paris, commendable.
Great Green Army ; an outstanding performance and an amazing ending thanks to Sexton, the wizard !! Incredible ! It reminds me ROG at the end of the 2009 match vs Wales, another Grand Slam !!! Nostalgia !
So interesting to see the evolution of the teams since then. The current Irish team would tear the French team of 2018 to shreds. Likewise, the current French team would have wiped out the Irish team of 2018. World cup should be good.
Even still there is something to be said for the heart in the characters and I'm not sure Ireland could pull this off now. The next RWC is going to be epic.
Every time I watch it... This is the best moment of rugby in history.. The discipline from both sides, the skill, the risk of the kick to Earls. Prove me wrong. (And yes I have considered the Chile try by Rodrigo Fernandez, which gets a top 3 mark if not top 2)
I always enjoyed listening to the late great Eddie Butler on commentary. He got it wrong here though. Ireland didn’t steal the game. They won it with a superior demonstration of power, skill, commitment and desire, when it mattered most…
Just looking through some past moments as I think about this years WC and this video had me shivering with tension again, even though I know the outcome. But lightening doesn't strike twice and ABs knew the longer we had it in that quarter final, the more likely we'd make a mistake. Of course Joe Schmidt also knew about Ireland and their eternal phase play train.
If you watch the start, you'll see Ian Henderson running from the near side of the pitch to take up position on the far side of the pitch. Ian then catches the restart...
One of the best moments in rugby history
not for the french 😭
@@flo_vayssie138 for neutrals as well - truly magnificent
Just amazing...40 plus phases and does that to clinch it on 82 plus mins. One of 6 Nations finest moments ever.
So sad that the great Eddie Butler just passed away. A brilliant commentator , God rest his kind soul.
What sad news...may he rest in peace.
He didn't want Ireland to win
@@22grenaTotally agree and a seriously overrated commentator!

Doesn't age. Both teams out on their feet and still fighting to win.
Awesome sporting spectacle!
Probably the best best passage of play in rugby history
And the most underwhelming commentary!

Deux équipes extraordinaires sur le terrain !

@@breizhatav7 French has been saying that since 1979. Won 3 World Cup medals in the last 3 final!

So true, both teams are way better now.
@Daniel Kealy 😱
Un grand moment de rugby ! Sexton a été grandiose 👍👍👍
"The closing seconds of the match."
RIP Eddie
Undeniably epic! The image of the bloodied French guy sprawled on the field at the end is iconic.

It's got to be one of the great moments in Six Nations rugby..
Incredible never ever forget it .
Incredible persistence from Ireland!
I think we all remember where we were when we watched this. Shenanigan’s pub, Leeds, England.
At the opposite end of the ground to the drop goal ..
crazy night
Was it an Irish pub 😊

It doesn’t mean literally steal. They got the result when it was looking very unlikely they would.
Both himself and Brian Moore seemed disappointed that Ireland won it.
That pop kick to earls, sweet jesus what a moment.

Thanks Johnny, this is my favourite day
Iconic
What a game what a man
41 fucking phases lads!
Amazing

He was immense in the last part of the game ..

Payback time for 1969 and Noel Murphy......yes,an Irish rugby fan has a long memory,Les blues
Interesting choice of words by the late Eddie Butler 'steal'. I think not sir.
Only one word for that: Iontach
All that's missing is the actual French Commentary of these last minutes of the game. C'est Terrible!!
Wow
First
Last.
It won't happen again ! Never !😅
He's done it before
Yes it will
Never is a long time ..
😜 this years game was on another level though.
Well done Sexton and Ireland, however France couldn’t get a win when Owens was the ref. Everybody knows that…
Hey,mate do give Ireland some credit for a great win
Oh dear a sore frog
@@geraldwalsh6489
Ireland is a great team…and one of the favorites for this year s World Cup…
Owens let lots of things go on both sides esp. at the end.
Good have got a win if they kicked their straight forward penalty a couple of minutes before the end. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror.
