And an Irishman, for me the highlight was Dupont holping up Mack on the line. That's what the 6 Nations is, that desire!
Honestly you could go 10 more years and not see a more impressive try saving tackle. Especially great when you consider size difference.
The body mechanics he used were so clever it's the only way somone of his size could have stopped him in that particular position but you also still needed insane strength.

Even in defeat France gives rugby fans some incredible moments, Penaud's try and Dupont's anti-gravitational tackle! One of the history books.

As a neutral Englishman this was one of the best games of rugby I have seen in many years well played to both teams and congratulations to Ireland. Everyone involved should be proud.
I think the referee helped keep the game alive. Had it been Carl Dixon, or Andrew Brace, to name but two, I doubt it would have been half as much fun to watch.

Ringrose has been playing out of his skin for Leinster, it was so deserved that he scored the incredible try at the end. The same could have been said about Doris. Both sensational!

Been watching the Nations for about 50 years - that was just amazing. Two great teams and Ireland showing why they are Number 1.

Number 1 in the north. Also, what a boring game, no powerful runs, no good hands, no good balls, the south had their off year, back to 5th place for ireland 2023 and quarters will be your end. Nice try though, try do it again in another 100 years.

Watched extended highlights of Eng vs France and then this. Ireland’s defence is so unflustered and organised, which made all the difference. France searched here for the chaos, but Ireland rarely gave them it. Can’t wait to see these two teams at the WC. Awesome teams both of them. A jealous England fan, deeply worried about Saturday.

Netflix could just show this game and that’s it.. that was absolutely insane!! Best game I’ve ever seen and I’m not from a rugby country or even close to one but it’s converted me to watch and some of my friends
Just a roller coaster of emotions for both set of fans! An incredible game of rugby with both teams showing why they are the best in the world at the moment. Both teams will learn a lot from the game itself, going forward!

France and Ireland are two evenly matched teams and the last two Six Nations matches between the two have been immensely enjoyable for the neutral. Not being neutral, I preferred this one! But that French team is quality and Dupont is unplayable at times. That tackle to deny Ireland a certain try was jaw-dropping.

Thankfully a quite comprehensive highlights package, one fitting to what was one of the best test matches of the last decade. Epic, barnstorming stuff boasting 4 brilliant (and 1 workmanlike) tries. A shining example of how brilliant this game can be.

I think I have watched Hugo Keenan's try 10 times. It must be one of the greatest tries in terms of deception, speed and attacking lines. He is becoming one of my favourite players!

Sometimes in rugby you get a match that showcases how truly amazing the sport is, this was one of them. What a day for Northern Hemisphere rugby, if either of these teams show up against the Kiwis or the Saffas, we will have a great world cup!

That's certainly one of the greatest rugby match. Even if we expected a great fight from two of the world best teams, we couldn't imagine that incredible intensity.

Besides, I think Mr. Barnes did a great job. Antonio's tackle on the head wasn't intentional, so yellow card. About Lowe's try, there's no clear evidence his foot touched the ground and the ball was clearly, but from very little, on field before touching the line.

And the forward pass to Lowe ? No clear evidence.... You gotta be kidding! Ball on the line as well. So 3 objective reasons not to award this try. And the tackle on Ethan DUMORTIER ? Completely one sided referring... 2 weeks in a row for France. IRB keeping it in the family.

Reminds me of Ali v Foreman. That first half was sublime. If you want to showcase the talent of two rugby teams at their pinacle, this was the match. France were unreal in their ability to shake the defense of Ireland. Right up to 3/4 of the match, I was expecting the French to overcome the onslaught and win the day, a absolute joy to watch. The war is not won but this battle is.
The subs made the difference in the second.
Irelands subs freshened up the team, Frances subs didn't make much of a difference.

Forget about Lowes try and the drama around it and the tackle, neither is the fault of the Irish team, the French team nor Wayne Barnes. This match should be remembered for, not just a grwat match for the first time in the 6N history between the top 2 ranking teams in WR, but because of Keenan's try, Penauds try and the absolute outstanding try save by DuPont. That try save was, for me, the moment of the entire 6N . I have watched it so many times, i have lost count. I'm an Irish supporter and actually stood up woth so many Irish supporters and applauded DuPont for that tackle. Young rugby players should all be shown this to show that height and the size of the attacker isnt everything and tackle technique, strength and determination can overcome anything.
On a separate note, I loved the expression by the commentator after Porter's try, "squeezing a rhino into licra", brilliant

Actually for that tackle his height may have even helped him with the lower centre of gravity.
A tall fecker may have just fell over.

This game was as close as....a blade of grass. One of the irish try could have been disallowed because of it (but it would probably have been quite unfair for the spirit of the game). Well done Ireland, from a frenchman.

Ya a foot in touch for a irish line out after Lowe played the ball forward france got out of jail with a scrum a lot clearer than if Lowes foot hit the grass
The strangest thing is not the controversy surrounding James Lowe's try, but that Jerome Garces is now a part of the French coaching set-up.
I agree, the James Low try should not be accorded. So many controversial ref decisions one more time.

This first half will go down in the history of the game, breathtaking during 40 min both team were throwing punch at each other. Just watching it I was exhausted by the intensity.
The second half was very frustrating for us (french team), despite that Lowe try and the sneaky angle ignored by the ref and Atonio high tackle that could have been red, I feel that we had the momentum for 15 min from the 40 min to the 65 min and the ref wasn't blowing anything for us.
I'm probably biaised as every fan should be ahah but that late shoulder tackle on Dumortier not being reviewed on a try opportunity ?? a clear forward on a kick ignored by the ref and nothing given on the ruck phases when we put so much pressure on the irish 22m.
We were 6 pts behind and should have started the money time one point ahead at least, for me the game was decided at this moment.
Still the better team won I think we struggled so much to attacj this amazing Irish defense, no space on the wing and a stuning coverage from the backs with our kicks. Ireland also putted a kick clinic on the last 10 min to keep us on our half of the field.
I feel like we will need time to adapt to the new way of refeering the rucks that take us away a big part of our game, with so much penalty and turn over won during those phases.
Congrats to the Irish I'm willing to give you this one if we manage to win the world cup ;)

Yes, he felt it should have been a red. However, as an Irish fan I'm happy to have been able to beat France at full strength and not just 14 Frenchmen. Otherwise we would not now be able to measure our team's true form.

It honestly seems that teams will have to modify their goal line attack 5 meters away so as not to get held up. The Irish were so close so many times. Love both of these teams and their different styles.

An advise of a french friend of ireland.
The tackle by Dupont on Hansen in the 37th minute of the game was completely illegal. He tackled Hansen before Hansen had possession of the ball. While I don’t think that a penalty try should have been awarded there, it should have been a penalty.

Ringrose was so intelligent using the closest French tackler as a shield between him and the other two French tacklers. Even pushing him into them.
you can see that a lot of the French team have experience in either judo or jujitsu by the way they are able to tackle, something other teams could do with.
They still lost..... so maybe they need to spend time getting fitter instead of learning judo.
