As an Irish fan can I just say the amount of RESPECT French fans are showing us Irish is amazing. I’ll never ever forget it. There have been other teams with fans that only disrespect us. They say nasty things for no reason. French fans are the best in the world truly!! ❤
A bit needy.
The French simply respect rugby and the Irish display great rugby. They would have shown same respect to anyone else unless the team or their fans have a strong reputation for not being fair play. The Irish team doesn't. Not respecting a team like Ireland, that simply shows poor character.
French allways nice not like kick box etc

Thank you kindly! 👌
The worst game for France ...
Congratulation Ireland. You were very tough. Great team ! You deserved this great victory.👍👍👍👍
You are being very graceful in defeat. That is the true mark of a great sportsman!! Top marks!! France will bounce back. I have no doubt. They will be sore now and will use that to be better !! Allez les Bleus!!

It's difficult for French fan but un grand bravo to Ireland, very nice team !
Congratulations from a French supporter to an outstanding Irish team, a well-deserved victory against a painfully outclassed French team. We can't hide behind dubious refereeing, we can't blame bad luck or missing star players, Ireland was just better than us, period. I hope France will bounce back, Ireland gave us a much needed humbling
Agree with all what you said but the fact that some key players were missing is part of the problem. Not because they are key players but because the team is used to playing with those players.
The French team we saw last night was a makeshift team and they couldn't be in synch. You can have all the best players you want if they aren't in total cohesion they cannot win at such level. Against a top Irish team it shows even more. They will have to learn to play together. Meaning that Galthié will have to find another option that his 2019 backbone. This is heading this way but they need time to find that cohesion. I guess the tournament is lost for France but at least it will serve to create a new cohesion for the team and when the key players will be back they will have to learn to play all together with the various combinations. So far France relied too much on the same players to bring that cohesion.
Of course you’ll bounce back!!
I feared for ireland in this game - First round, toughest match - no Johnny sexton- against an opposition who are awesome on their day..
And in their own back yard!!!
I felt if we could just stay with France.. make the game tight.. settle for a loosing bonus point would be a good result.
Chasing a game with 14 for so long is too much at this level and your team got over the line before the break when they really had to. That shows true character..
It sent a tone and the game very much alive.
Ireland played very well today and fortunately for us, France were not quite themselves?
You will come good!
Allez Les Bleus!!
@@puccaland True, being deprived of our usually stellar pair of Half-Backs and some of our best locks, blind-side flankers and wingers really did show, and for some reasons we never played with the full 2022 grand slam line-up again, but last year, Ireland undressed France all the same, despite most of our best players being on the field... Still, there might be some hope left for the future, considering the up-and-coming U20 World Cup winners who will bring much needed fresh blood. In 2020, Galthié let many young, talented and green players in, maybe it's Time to part with some disappointing veterans... We'll see
@@michaelmcnamara4838 Thanks for these kind words. We lacked humility and team cohesion while Ireland had those in spades! I almost believed in a comeback when Ireland was only +7 on the lead, but hey, we did not deserve it last night.
French supporters and players are still haunted by the string of underwhelming and infuriating performances between 2012 and 2019. Being knocked out of the 2023 World Cup and thoroughly defeated Yesterday really brought back some nasty memories. Seems like les Bleus didn't get over the 2023 Quarterfinals yet, another lesson we should take from Ireland. Next up is Scotland, they've been the bane of French Rugby in 2020 and 2021, defeated us once during WC preparation, and are probably the second strongest team nowadays. Les Bleus need to pull their fingers out and do some soul-searching ASAP. I hope Ireland will keep on playing this good, and we really learn from this defeat.
@@Prof_de_Jeux Yes but last year it was the all time best Irish team. A mature team when the French team was still in the middle of its gaining maturity process to be ready at the WC. There was no reason why France wouldn't lose against them. They couldn't remain undefeated forever and Ireland was number one or soon to be, don't remember.
But this time, although that Irish team is strong, it is also a new team being built in Ireland with key players gone for good. They were totally in synch as if they had played in this configuration for years. If the French team had aligned more players used to playing together at this level the scenario wouldn't have been the same. The score is the same as last year but let's not forget that the French played at 14 most of the game. Any other team would have been crushed by the Irish side. At this level every single detail counts. The French were clearly out of their depth like they couldn't communicate properly. The Irish managed to be back on business right away the French didn't.
Dupont, Ntamack etc aren't missed because they are great players, but because of their reading of the game and the cohesion they bring to the team.
Great start to 2024🏉Well done Ireland ☘ 🇮🇪 👍
2024 will be excellent because their schedule will be a challenge and will provide a clear gage for them and their opponents. Good luck to Ireland. From a Kiwi.

James Lowes Drive in the last maul try just epitomises how hard these men work for each other. Masters of their own job but bloody good at other too.
If Aki had stayed in NZ, he wouldve probably be retiring or playing some rugby in Japan, and never getting picked by NZ. He really is playing so well for Ireland and on international stage.
The gap yesterday was tremendous, Ireland played some sweet rugby. Cheers to you guys, Sexton may be gone, but you still have beautiful days to come! I hope France can refocus for the next games.

He's undroppable. Unless they play him at 6 James Ryan is going to have to get used to being a bench player from now on

Surely one of the best performances under Andy Farrell.
Kudos to Ireland, a comprehensive victory on a not-so-disappointing French side, since everybody knew that something was broken since "that" quarter-final.
We'll have one or two difficult years and shall rebuild for the next RWC (without illusions since Rugby World will always find a way to prevent the French from winning it, now we know), hopefully replacing half of the team quickly and building upon that.
(side note: I think that Ramos is shite, contrarily to many)
So bloody DELIGHTED
When France beget frustrated on they're own soil they start to lose all discipline and resort to playing dirty. Really well deserved red card. Weldone Ireland, fine start to the tournament!
What the hell are you talking about? The game was pretty clean. None of them were on purpose. The big fouls came from one player only. Willemse was out for a long time, hadn't played with the team for a long time and made mistakes. He didn't do it on purpose. Stop making up stories to fuel some nationalistic propaganda. The French weren't frustrated but disorganised.
@@puccaland Look closely, he led with his shoulder on both occasions. He knew exactly what he was doing and that's pretty dirty. He could have snapped a neck with those tackles. If I were an official I'd ban him from playing rugby for life, the big dope!

Thanks for putting this together @IrishRugby TV. A Quibble. Do we need all the replays of the TMO stuff?
Ireland was a better team..They desserves their victory..
5:09 That delayed disguised short pass to Byrne was brilliant. At the time i thought it was just awful defending because i didnt actually see the pass live, i think everyones eyes (including mine) had moved away from Byrne thinking he had overrun and would not receive the ball, also Byrnes inward running angle opened a massive gap outside him where Lowe and Henshaw had looped around and looked like the main attacking threat, that half second pass delay and the widening gap outside forced Danty to take a half step out, Crowleys quick look back to James Lowe, it looked like Byrne had already run ahead of Crowley and the defenders were just shifting their focus across to the second line when the almost sleight-of-hand pass was suddenly in Byrnes hands and he has was galloping free. Worth re-watching the subtle elements of that pass again. That try involved so much more than what i saw live. Kind of sums up Irelands attack, never quite sure where the ball is going, options all over the place and defenders end up slightly out of position, attackers tend to get hit with soft shoulders allowing them to get over the gain line nearly every time.
I'm not sure which region that Irishman Bundee Aki hails from but they sure know how create those openings and score !
Well done to the men in green, though it really saddens me to see that poor level to the team I normally support... without Dupont, I feel like France is going back to it's dark age of French rugby, when they used to be beaten by everyone. I unfortunately expect more defeat to come for France, and against average teams, like England for example. The Scots could easily beat us, since they're in much better shape than England. The only teams we could still defeat at the moment are the Welsh and Italians. Goodbye, my strong French team 😢
Scotland defeated France several times under Galtier's era, when we were supposedly superior...
@@ogamiitto8627 did I say otherwise ? No
@@ytevysbhtb No need to compare England and Scotland to conclude that Scotland can beat us, that's my point. They did beat us anyway lastly, they're our pet peeve.
@@ogamiitto8627 I did that because I consider Scotland as a good team now. Not as good as Ireland, but still good enough to be considered with caution before playing them. But even England who's an average team who improved since last time we beat them at Twickenham, can now defeat us, that's my point. I don't mean to disrespect any team

6/2 split works Matt
French TV director, making sure he only showed 1 replay angle for France's 2nd try ! Never a try, in my opinion, and straight after the try was given by the TMO we got a much closer angle, which clearly showed the ball wasn't grounded over or on the line before he lost possession, he even trys to grab the ball afterwards, why do that if you've already scored the try !
To ground again and hope the ref & TV see it for certain!
@jhondgolder1415 If no try was given and he lost possession, then it would have been a knock on , so 2nd attempt to ground the ball would not have counted
Like the french back in the day they could run a ball and they were above the rest i still love the french rugby
Joe McCarthy was like a second row doing slalom with that french pack
Rugby's fucked with all this over officiating. It's killing the spectacle and significantly influencing results. Not to condone dangerous tackles but when the video ref decides a game it's shithouse
I was worried about this game but was hopeful of an upset as Dupont and Ntmack weren't playing. A lot of people on here have commented that the French played 50 minutes of this game with 14 against 15 but Ireland were ahead when there was 15 against 15 on the pitch and scored a try when it was 14 on 14. Ireland made a few mistakes and really creaked at scrum time but they looked slick in comparison to France.
The French looked poor but i think a lot of that was down to Irelands attack and the up in your face defence which unsettled the French at every opportunity. Irelands attacking play has been outstanding over the last couple of years as they have attacking options from everywhere keeping the opposition guessing and then striking at the last moment. Great rugby to watch from Ireland, gone are the days of kicking the ball as high and as far as you could and hope for the best or the stick it up your jumper rugby. They have turned into a slick attacking team that are well drilled and coached in everything they do. This is only the first game but we are looking in great shape. To me success this 6 nations would have been to win our home games and at least one away game so the first box is ticked.
Roll on next week and hopefully more of the same.
Decision from the bunker! Space capsule more like.
Well done Ireland.👍🏻
7:40 Brilliant carries from McCarthy and Lowe

Yes, it was a convincing win. However, France were down a man for 2/3 of the game and they didn't have their champion, Du Pont, so that should temper overconfidence in the Irish camp. The game against England in Twickenham is still ahead and it should be remembered that they gave the world champions, South Africa, a strong challenge in the semi final of the World Cup. It's very premature to be thinking about an Irish Grand Slam at this point.
The French were totally out of their depth most of the game. Not enough against an Irish team totally in synch and in control. Victory totally deserved for Ireland. The French will get their act together when all the key players will be back.
