Only an idiot thinks that was a bad match. It was a dogfight in the rain. French defence was awesome (helped in no small part by cowardice on Nigel Owens's part in the last quarter). 41 phases without a knock on, forward pass or penalty. Fantasy stuff. That last five minutes will go down in history not just in Ireland. TV will be showing that drop goal for fifty years. Sexton cemented his place in rugby folklore with not just the drop, but the two amazing kicks that preceded it. And special mention for Keith Earls. That cameo summed him up.. Fantastic player!
Awesome highlights. Great to see these clips on RUclips. Just one suggestion - DON'T include the score on the title. Some fans don't know the score and like watching RUclips to get their sporting updates.
They're fans but they live in a different country and can't afford "satellite" tv. Have a look at how the NFL does it on RUclips. They're set up for fans.
Mate. RUclips is the interweb. Rather than just check a result online it's much cooler to catch the highlights on RUclips and relive the action. However if the score is mentioned on the video (file) name it takes from the highlights reel.
Could somebody without a bit more knowledge of the rules please explain to me the technicalities of how France gave away a penalty at 2:37. Is it because Vahaamahina came in to the ruck from the side instead of through the "gate", even though the ball was loose? Wasn't Lamerat in an offside position too when he touched the ball, which would have resulted in a penalty for Ireland anyway? Must have replayed this part over 10 times by now! Thanks guys.
Hopefully "the Organisers" of the 6 Nations will cop on and get their act together regarding the HIA protocol for the coming games. Maxime Machenaud should never have been allowed to play V Ireland for the last 5/6/7 minutes. One french player who clearly injured his KNEE, goes off the field (is his brain in his KNEE) and Maxime Machenaud replaces him!! For a Concussion assessment !! Fairly laughable stuff. How many "match officials" do we need standing on the sidelines, NOT doing their highly paid jobs. Very pathetic and unprofessional stuff from World Rugby 6 Nations "match officials" !!! This happened TWICE v the French. LOL
Don't say the french, please rephrase it as the "french team". We are as ashamed as you are angry. Any real rugby fan would hate this sneaky game as it doesn't belong to rugby values.
The attitude of the English, Irish and Welsh commentators ahead of and during the game regarding the French was disgraceful. The BBC booth were demoralising in every way to the French. Watching the game was difficult because they would say every French mistake was forced by the Irish, whereas an Irish mistake would be unlucky or because of the mostly French crowd. Also, Vahaamahina's second 'penalty' was not his, it was the 13. Shameful from the commentators.
This happens every year mate, its exhausting. Brian more is an absolute Francophobe, as is Jonathan Davies, I wonder why either of them ever get put on the France games
Are you naive enough to believe the same thing doesn't happen with French commentators in France when they play - or the English, Welsh, Scottish, etc, etc?
Well I can tell that it doesn't mate because I listen to it. Sure they back their country and it's more centred around positivity for the French but at least they don't denounce the opposition... It's more neutral
I didn't hear anyone "denounce" the French. They may well have pointed out shortcomings in the France squad but to call that denouncing the French is a bit over the top. I have listened to English commentators doing the same thing when they play Ireland. Where in France do you live? Incidentally, should the French not be "denounced" for fake head injuries?
If you really can't see the francophobic behaviour in the lead up to games then you must be thick. Paul O'Connell among many others were ridiculing the French even before the kick off, not to mention the blatant bias from the commentators. My point was that the attitude towards the FRENCH is disgraceful - not the Irish, Scottish, Welsh or Italian. Watching England vs Wales was a completely different story as the commentators were fair to both sides and picking on their mistakes when it was due - I didn't feel like this commentary was unjust at all. And for the record i'm from London.
smitzh took of the best players 25 mins when we coild have scored more as the best players would have got into frances minds more im sure of it even some commentators said this i was mad points where crucial here a win which could been a runaway for ireland if he does this in wales we are gone the core group who done hard where off to early
You mean what was left over of the French survivors of the top 14? Man they went on tour with a bandaged up team at the end of a never ending season most of them would have played like 40 games also half of them only show up to camp like a week before.
Credit to Ireland for getting the win but this isn't a great france team. I remember as an Ireland fan when Frédéric Michalak was playing around 2002/2003 for france they were a completely different team and Ireland would be lucky to pull of a result against them
brian w no they don't it's only the last few years Ireland are beating France . France have won 56 times against Ireland compared to 34 wins from Ireland
Interesting! No mention (in this official 6 Nations clip) of the cock-up by the match officials regarding the fact that Maxime Machenaud was allowed to come back into this game from the 75th minute. What sort of incompetence is this? Please tell me!! How many "match officials" do we need standing on the sidelines, NOT doing their highly paid jobs. Very pathetic and unprofessional stuff from World Rugby 6 Nations "match officials" !!! This happened TWICE today in the same game v the French. sorry for the rant, 6 Nations "match officials" !!! Get your shit together for the other teams who could be negatively impacted by your INCOMPETENCE.
Its a shame about the French team. While it is still the representative team of the French Rugby Federation is is no longer a Gallic team and the flair and panache we associated with French teams when the vast majority of players were Gallic is sadly gone. Big trundling Afro Frenchmen running into tackles is what we now have.
Thank you. My comment was not racist. It was an accurate - demonstrably and unarguably accurate - comment to the effect that whereas past French teams, famously flair filled and exciting, were almost exclusively Gallic in make up the current team is a mix of players of Gallic and African descent which can legally and correctly be referred to as "French" but cannot any longer sensibly be said to be Gallic. Thus the time honored concept of "Gallic flair" can no longer reasonably be attached to the representative team of the French Rugby Federation.
Watching paint dry was more interesting than this game.. expected Ireland to get a decent win against a poor French side.. this was a shite performance with a pot luck ending
really lucky???what are you talking about?very persistent perhaps.they were the better team in the 80 minutes.some matches go like that, not the best spectacle.
huh?Do you come out with random comments usually without thinking? a bad game and a bad performance does not mean a team is bad. After all Ireland are ranked 3rd in the world and narrowly second favorites for this competition.Do your homework jack ass.
marshmallowmorg morg Are u mad . The amount of skill and class it takes to make 40 or so phases from ur own line and have the confidence to take a drop kick from 45m out . The difference between class and luck is huge . A classy team may play bad but fight to grind out a win . Irish rugby is in a good place right now . Ireland or France did not play well but that's not what counts . England smashed Italy without even playing good because they are also a class side . How u can call Ireland a poor team is beyond me . That's like calling ur own country England a poor team because they played one bad game .
1:35 there's a guy in the crowd showing off his passport to the guys next to him...
I noticed that too 😂
What an end
It never gets old
Perfect illustration of the difference confidence makes. French missing eminently kickable penalty, Irish making a long drop
Ireland for six nations title!🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Outstanding drop goal of Johnny ! Beautiful Irish victory for a Grand Slam !

Paul Hickey sexton cemented his place in rugby folklore by winning the grand slam today!
Also Hendy getting the restart that was important
fantastic!
Well played Ireland...If there is some wishey left from yesterday's 3rd half-time you can leave it here...we'll make good use of it Xp
nerves of steel from Sexton, and what a try from Thomas. Absolutely burnt Stockdale there

you who
Ya auld bollocks, ya.
Великолепный финал матча!!!
Balls of steel
Ireland is 2018 six nations champion
we cant be we are not in full fitness wales at home im afraid we will be lucky to be 3th
No Jamie Roberts and Jonathon Davies meant no relentless Warrenball rhino crash ad infinitum. The best handling Wales performance I've seen for years.
'Vahaamamahania.. ' already at his best in discipline
Jonny sexton best fly half in the world right now
Like if you agree
Kathleen Megaw no Barrett
Barrett is better.. the whole world agrees. Only mckenzie beats Barrett
Matthew Jefferson your right but sexton is one of the best
I think Farrell is one of the best too
Barret or Farrel (when he's not centre. Which he usually is)
Fucking epic well done Sexton 👏
Commentary saying what happens before the plays ruins the suspense
Epic
This game makes me ponder about England in Paris, could unexpectedly be the banana skin that costs them a potential grand slam.
Unlucky

He's 'in from the side', he knocked it on and played the ball off his feet...take your pick of those. The scrumhalf was offside too
Thanks for the explanation mate.
what is Six Nations Rugby ? Rugby in Europe! it is my first time !
Aupa Francia!!! Allez les bleus!!!

This game should have been France's. Hard luck, but credit to Sexton for the drop goal.
The better team won. Does that bother you?
The better fly half won the game for his luckier team. Does that bother you?
The best team in the Six Nations won the Grand Slam. Does that bother you?
How good is thomas
GO Johnny go go go.....
I had shat when I witnessed that kicked
Football style celebrations are starting to appear in Rugby all rolling around on the floor!
Hardly a big deal is it?
As long as we don't get the football style 'injuries' all rolling around on the floor.
I disagree the Sexton thing is one off and teams always celebrate winning with the last score
smitzh took of the best players 25 mins when we coild have scored more as the best players would have got into frances minds more im sure of it even some commentators said this i was mad points where crucial here a win which could been a runaway for ireland if he does this in wales we are gone the core group who done hard where off to early
Awful commentary - you announced everything before it happened
its the english we want to beat
Go Johnny go drop goal
so NZ sweep France 3-0 test series with a average winning margin of 18 poinst yet the world no. 2 team only won by 3 points?
You mean what was left over of the French survivors of the top 14? Man they went on tour with a bandaged up team at the end of a never ending season most of them would have played like 40 games also half of them only show up to camp like a week before.
4:27 fucked it
Credit to Ireland for getting the win but this isn't a great france team. I remember as an Ireland fan when Frédéric Michalak was playing around 2002/2003 for france they were a completely different team and Ireland would be lucky to pull of a result against them
Your comment relates to one team. Ireland have a good record against the French.
brian w no they don't it's only the last few years Ireland are beating France . France have won 56 times against Ireland compared to 34 wins from Ireland
That is a good record - considering we have less than 10% of Frances population, and rugby isn't even our 2nd/3rd sport.
Ah this is the game where a french player got concussion of the knee ..??
Ireland won this game without scoring a single try.
and?
His voice omg, its like pealing carrots
Revenge for Thierry Henry
no, revenge for that would be if we cheated them out of something big. This was a deserved win, amazing stuff!
TH is forgiven.. It is he who has to live with the shame ..

Why did France get a point from this game
Losing margin!
Who else thought there was no way Ireland would score right up until the ball crossed the bar?
Im sure there are many who thought the game was lost. I genuinely never doubted they'd win, even as the clock went red.
Edit - i never thought they'd lose!
nah thats English thinking....or fear as it is.
ireland will come 3th in 6nations pity
Not Nigel's best game
What a boring game.

Racist much?? Also the French were cheating and milking the HIA's. Being investigated now by the organisers and world rugby.
the same afro that gives you tries and could win the game if the 'gallic' defensemen didn't fuck up
Ruth McCann Not racist at all wtf
Vahaamahina is Wallisian, that is French from birth
Boring northern hemisphere rugby.
The Rugby Championship is predictable and lacks the atmosphere of the Six Nations. For a neutral, that's pretty boring.
Watching paint dry was more interesting than this game.. expected Ireland to get a decent win against a poor French side.. this was a shite performance with a pot luck ending
The better team won. Are you sore?
The most boring game of the century I thought Ireland got really lucky towards the end
really lucky???what are you talking about?very persistent perhaps.they were the better team in the 80 minutes.some matches go like that, not the best spectacle.
2 very poor teams
huh?Do you come out with random comments usually without thinking? a bad game and a bad performance does not mean a team is bad. After all Ireland are ranked 3rd in the world and narrowly second favorites for this competition.Do your homework jack ass.
marshmallowmorg morg The two teams are not poor just the quality of performance from both teams was poor. Ireland should have played better.

Natwest are definitely doing better highlights than RBS! It was Lamerat who did the foul at 45 though
