I saw the show live. Front row. The cats come out into the audience and pass right by you. This is like Garnet, an EXPERIENCE, and you have to be in the theater. The movie here is hot, wet garbage. And the human faces! Cats are the easiest animal face to make out of a human face with just practical effects. They made excellent anthro cats several times on Doctor Who with the budget of five quid and a bacon sarnie!
Tyler Fish I’m not that knowledgeable in the musical but I know if it was animated whether it would have been animated in CG or 2D, it could have been something like Zootopia or Cats Don’t Dance rather than in live action.
@@meggiealexis1694 But even then, the movie would still be the same thing. That's why they never did make this film in animation. They couldn't think of a story for the film.
This also isn't first crappy film adaptation of a musical she's been in. She was also in the film adaptation of Nine (Which was directed by Rob Marshall of Chicago fame)
When it comes to the 1981 broadway version of “Cats,” one of the stage performers, Femi Taylor would eventually be brought in appear in the third Star Wars movie at the time, “Return of the Jedi,” where she plays Oola, a green-skinned female Twi’lek slave dancer for Jabba the Hutt.
Because everything that is the most outdated with the 2000s could somehow get even worse (and I mean” less excusably bad considering how much technology’s evolved”) during and after the late 2010s.
I think they didn’t get rid of the cat actors wedding rings. When it was released on digital and Blu-ray and DVD, I strictly saw it on Judi Dench, and a back round dancer or two. Did anyone see them. Yes I saw it on the big screen in it’s full nightmare fuel and I’m not proud of paying a ticket. If they made the VFX give them actual paws and feline nose, but that would make the film delay the same as Sonic The Hedgehog.
You definitely have to see the 1998 version since that is the closest you can get to the musical being adapted as a movie. Macavity in the musical has an orangey red and black design which makes him look demonic and yes the designs in the musical are very elaborate and intricate. And also yeeeeah in the musical at least most versions of it Grizz is elderly (although she has been played by younger actresses), here she looks like she could be a young adult or teenager. In the musical Bustopher is basically a sophisticated type, a gentleman cat if you will...yes, he was plus sized but that wasn't all there was to him.
It also made Taylor Swift even worse than ever before for the new decade. m.ruclips.net/video/dE_HxK0yR2s/видео.html m.ruclips.net/video/rSJR0hKvvJc/видео.html
I should say that I havent seen the 2019 movie of cats and I'm glad I have not seen it because it looks really bad and this is where I put my foot down and say that I want disney do a hand drawn animated movie adaptation of the musical of cats. Who's with me?
You think 2020 is punishing us for this film? Also am I the only person that believes that the Cats musical is an allegory for Evangelical Christianity?

This movie REALLY should have been animated.
I wish we could of been the the one that was going to be animated by the same company that did An American Tail.
Even if it was animated, the story, what little there is, would still be the same.

Which is why I want to make an animated “Cats” remake.
Debatably to end the 2020s with a bang.
And you said there wouldn't be a cat film worse than Cool Cat Saves The Kids....
Griz is supposed to be OLD. This Grizabella looks younger than Gus. If anything, GUS deserves it more!!!!
At least Judi Dench wouldn’t go on to do anything wor...
“Disney Artemis Fowl”
Oh fudge.
I’m just curious; what is with the negative level of anticipation for Artemis Fowl ‘20?
Lemme guess...
I said “2020”...
Coronavirus...

It’s the same reason folks hate the movie adaptions for the Percy Jackson books.

Anyone else scream when they first saw the "cats"
How does the 2003 Cat in the hat movie has a better looking cat than this 2019 film ?.😑

Simple. That was Mike Myers in a normal costume. Not a mocap suit.
Cats (2019): uhhh. Meow?
Me: O_____O
The Navi from Avatar look more cat-like.
I still enjoy the movie of Avatar.
At least those are supposed to be aliens and not real animals.

They should’ve made this an animated film. The concept art for the Amblin animation studio looked really good.
As a cat owner I feel this movie is an insult to cats in general.
I saw this movie in a theatre by myself after my shift late at night.
I had to rock out when you put the Railway Cat song, it's the catchiest in my opinion XD
Catscratch makes more sense than this movie. Great review, Joseph!
You mean that one Nick cartoon a few years ago?
Or the Turkish CGI "Bad Cat"
When Free Collar Kingdom creates better cat/human hybrids than this movie.....dear lord.
Even if you get passed all the sexual overtones, it's still a boring directionless movie.
This movie wasted Jennifer Hudson
It also made Taylor Swift even worse than ever before for the new decade.

🔥🔥
👄
the actors are on a real life sets in the movie
This movie makes The Live Action Cat In The Hat looks like The Godfather.

Who's with me?
Jason Derulo as the Rum Tum Tugger.... excuse me while I go vomit up my breakfast
This should’ve been in 3D or 2D animation, not mocap
I prefer 2D hand drawn animation from Disney.
This movie is best watched with friends to make fun of

I'm kinda of happy your reviewing this. It's just awful. I saw this with my cousins and I have regretted it.
Hope to God IF the Nostalgia Critic review this, please it won't be musical-style, like his Phantom of the Opera or his cringe-fest The Wall.
You know he's going to anyway AND dress up in a fursuit for it
@@Headbanger142 if he wears that "Tony the Tiger"-looking mascot from his That Darn Cat review, then he's a cheapskate
It's like as if Hollywood these days is allergic to costumes and makeup.
As a fan of the musical the movie is okay.
The charcter design look like ed edd eddy rejects
Talk about performance capture done wrong.
Just a review of this movie makes me feel uncomfortable
Next time fairy tail movie 1 , hello ,
I can't even understand what some of them are saying when they sing, it's just so unclear

This rewiew much better than this movie. What a Doctor Moron was pupts on Andrew Lloyd Webber's music?
Cute snake 72
Just everything was completely terrible. James Corden was cripplingly awful but that's nothing particularly surprising
This is one of the most spectacularly bad movies I've ever seen.
