Yeah, they need to do a we were there for 15 minute counter to see how many people continue to say that. It’s kind of like that mystery lady that always give them permission.
If a private business gives you permission to park there WHILE YOU'RE THERE, fine. But as soon as you LEAVE the premises, you no longer have parking priveleges. Doesn't matter if you were a paying customer. Once you leave, you're no longer a customer.
Absolutely correct, you can't go in for a coffee to be a customer then park for free while you walk around town. Customer whilst on the premises, it's very simple to understand, it's not a day pass.

The Jeep was a criminal investigation for DWI. Rotation avoids conflict with respect to lawyers and court. The others are regular tows. Maybe, just a thought.
After watching all y'all's videos I've decided "we were only gone 15 minutes" is the towing equivalent to a cop asking people how much they had to drink "2 beers"

Hey Jeff, I used to run tow trucks at South Lake Tahoe in the mid 70s. There were only 2 tow companies in the basin at that time. We did rotation with the other company on CHP calls. The other company would dispatch 2 trucks to every call and if they beat us there the CHP would give them both cars (in a two car crash situation) and tell us the road needed to be opened quickly... yea right, but the cops always control the scene...I think someone knows someone there, if you get my drift.
My wife is from Tokyo, weve lived here for about 18 years now. When we came here she was amazed and nervous around deer and large dogs. Now we take care of 5 dumped dogs, large, and when she bartends Gatlinburg weddings , she shushes the bears away. Calls em fat trash.pandas. Quite a difference 18 yrs later.
Pay to park…….unless you are a 400 pound black bear. Bears that big can park for free anywhere or anytime up till a Park Ranger or Animal Control makes them move.
Pro tip. The white line on the right side of the road is so you can see when lights are in your eyes. If you watch it you won't be blinded. It really works!
We were in the area over the weekend and came upon a car in a ditch. We rolled down the window and asked the police office if Jeff was coming??!! He said.. I don’t think Jeff is coming! 😂. Dang! We wanted to see y’all. 😊 BTW.. no one was hurt in the accident!
That was a decent sized bear, but we had one in our neighborhood that was rear window high to a TJ Jeep at the back. Had to be over 500 pounds. And I'm in NJ.
I wonder if the customer who called you made a complaint to the police station about not allowing you to help him who the customer had called. Police here will call next in line if there is no request or the owner isn’t able to request.
My guess is that the cop that showed up on scene on the first one called whoever was on rotation. Before he got out and talked to the person in the ditch. The second cop actually got out first and asked the people if they had someone coming to help.
I have noticed that the newer cars have a lot of light inside the driver compartment and this would explain why people are driving with the bright lights on.
The Jeep call may have been regarded as police business (impound subsequent to arrest) which required official police tow versus private tow. The Expedition was a private tow and the police were not requiring the tow.
I don’t know if Ripleys can do something about this or even if it’s their responsibility. Obviously people assume you park in Ripley’s parking lot at say 2 PM buy tickets then ride the roller coaster and then I guess they think they have an all day parking pass to park at the mountain coaster, and then go walking around downtown Gatlinburg. A couple of these videos of towing from Ripleys. That’s what it seems like.
Jeff in most states if a customer calls you to a accident the police can not stop you. The one with the Jeep when the officer charge him with the DUI that can change the whole thing ! ! ! !
If I remember correctly the last Pigeon Forge call they didn't let you take, wasn't the driver DUI? Maybe because of the criminal side of it they didn't let you take it?
Most of the time its down to officer discretion on who they want to tow, however for our agency we of course have wreckers in rotation to call, however if you want to call your own tow truck to come get you then most don't give a flip (As long as the ETA is not crazy) the only reason you will NOT be able to use your own tow is if your car will be impounded due to the person getting arrested, or the vehicle is not legal (No tags, invalid insurance etc)
Jeff and Kristen, we drove from North Central Florida through Georgia and Alabama on a dark night with the remnants of a tropical storm going up through the Florida Panhandle, Georgia and Alabama. We had rain all the way from the very Northern part of Florida through just west of Little Rock, AR. The only time we've ever needed a tow was up around Tupelo, MS. We go through Memphis when we go to visit family, but that's about the only place we hit in Tennessee! I sure would NOT want to drive in those mountains at night!
Hi Jeff and Kristen. Great video as usual. Just wanted to let you know that for some reason a number of the channels we watch inlcuding your's have somehow been automatically unsubscribed by RUclips. I don't know if that is something that you can bring to their attention or not. If not you may want to mention from time to time in your videos to check to be sure the subscribers are still subscribed. Our best to you and your family.
“We were only there for 15 minutes” is becoming the excuse equivalent to “I only had 2 drinks officer” response when pulled over for DUI. 😂😂
A cab drivers minute is anywhere between 5 mins and 1.5hrs.
That was my response
🤣 right?!
Yeah, they need to do a we were there for 15 minute counter to see how many people continue to say that. It’s kind of like that mystery lady that always give them permission.
Agreed....😅

That was a decent sized bear, but we had one in our neighborhood that was rear window high to a TJ Jeep at the back. Had to be over 500 pounds. And I'm in NJ.
I drive a minivan, I get a kick out of these big bad trucks getting stuck.
Love your channel a must watch every day, that bear is majestic you guys are so fortunate to have the wildlife you have, Kevin, Dundee Scotland
Everything auto's bringing the receipts as usual
I wonder if the customer who called you made a complaint to the police station about not allowing you to help him who the customer had called. Police here will call next in line if there is no request or the owner isn’t able to request.
My guess is that the cop that showed up on scene on the first one called whoever was on rotation. Before he got out and talked to the person in the ditch. The second cop actually got out first and asked the people if they had someone coming to help.
Just a theory, but who knows.
The calls are the best. Well, the upset calls. Your patience is stunning.
I do hvac work in the area with the wildlife I hope you stay "protected"
Excellent summary & background info!
Lack of reflectors where the lines are is probably because you guys get plowable snow. Plows just rip those right up.
You have remarkable restraint
I don’t know if Ripleys can do something about this or even if it’s their responsibility. Obviously people assume you park in Ripley’s parking lot at say 2 PM buy tickets then ride the roller coaster and then I guess they think they have an all day parking pass to park at the mountain coaster, and then go walking around downtown Gatlinburg. A couple of these videos of towing from Ripleys. That’s what it seems like.
Jeff in most states if a customer calls you to a accident the police can not stop you. The one with the Jeep when the officer charge him with the DUI that can change the whole thing ! ! ! !
A little late, but want to wish y'all a Happy New Year from the mid-West flat lands of Kansas to the highest mountain top of Tennessee.
“…OR, you can bring it back to us and save yourself time” hah 😅
