Ryan let me tell you! That hard work on that cheapy wood lure that cost you nothing...and just shows the hard work God gave you back to land a trophy fish! You my man have my all time respect brotha! Keep this type of content up! You embarrassed everyone on that inlet. It was VERY special!
Here's a free trick to make a very strong wire through, where you can't see the twist. First an "eye bend" on the wire, where the loose end is a bit longer than the plug. Stick through and make the other end the same, so you end up with an eye in each end, and loose ends sticking out beside them. Then you twist the two eyes, so the wire locks around it self, and shortens up, so your eyes only stick halfway out, which also makes it stronger.
To make the wire stiffer first flat in the end so it will fit a drill Chuck then spend and drill slowly this will take all the twist out of it and will make it stronger I recommend this tip on making your own umbrella rigs
Awesome stuff mate, as you said it doesn't matter what the lure looks like it all comes down to performance, and if it performs how it should or how you want it to then that should get fish, the flashy stuff is just added extra for looks and to be honest most fish or nearly all fish don't care what a lure looks like, it's how it behaves in the water, great video, cracking fish, nice job 👍 👌
Great change of pace. Never stop asking "what if.....". A Dremel tool would probably lessen the time required for the popper face shaping. With the multitude of attachments, you could carve a Mona Lisa into a dowel, add some hooks, and it'll probably catch some fish. Keep up the good work.
After starting out fishing Juno and Jupiter (Blowing Rocks was our favorite Snook spot), my Dad was transferred to Vero when I was 11 and I started fishing Sebastian until I was commissioned into the Air Force. Glad to see you catching that Red there!
What a video. I luv the lure. My only “complaint” is I would spend more money on the spray paint and epoxy etc than just buying the lure lol. Great vid. Nice job with that fish
That is a really cool idea. Whenever I catch a truly special fish, I retire the lure that caught it. Just to remember that special experience. You should hang that one up. Make a new one, and use that one. Also, how can anyone give this video a thumbs down???
Hey man try using tabletop epoxy from totalboat and just pour a flood coat over the lure so you don’t have to paint it on. Might be worth a try, it works great for cutting boards etc
How rewarding is that? Not that you needed it but was thinking a feather tail might be a nice addition to the lure. Then again the big red might not have ate the lure with a feather. Who knows. Nice one!!
Why did you go to the deeper part of the pier instead of remaining shallow seems to me like it is harder to handle and more weight to pull upwards.....I can't think of what would make it easier, faster, or more manageable to land fish at end of pier?????
Lol "A Poor Craftsman Always Blame's Their Tool's". I have drawers full of the exact same tool's lol. As long as the fish like the lure where's the problem? The hair's make it look even more realistic as a field mouse that's covered in the thing's. Your catch wasn't exactly a minnow so maybe the cheap brushes worked after all. Yep you did good.... Real good congratulations on your PB.👍😷👍 IT WAS A STONKER 👍😷👍 Take care my friend.
An idea. What if you took the paddle bit and drilled a hole 3 inches in. Then cut across the hole. This will give you 2 popper mouths one on each side of the hole. This would save you a lot of arm work with the sandpaper on the pipe. Just my 2 cents.
I made a popper and I manly used a belt sander to round it out ant then I grabbed a drill bit that was a sedimentary file and I made a bowl for the flopper mouth and I caught 2 bass on the 1 so I'm making more
You should check Marling baits channel if you are into making lures, you can learn a lot about diy lure making from that channel, great video dude keep it up
Love your channel man! But the odds of that fish surviving are very low. We drop those fish head first every time Bc they can get that giant burst of oxygen to get there blood pumping again! Nice fish it’s not Juno tho
Super informative video as usual. Sorry to get off topic, but there are some serious plates hanging on that Smith machine, how much are you bench pressing these days?
Haha it’s a squat rack, most of the plates are for deadlifts though! I benched 305 my last week on active duty, but probably couldn’t come close to that weight now!
@@Tyler-kw9ce nothing you know I’ve bought som like $200 worth and we went popping for tuna and we lost all of them 🤦🏻♂️😢😴, like for it to be $35-45 each i rather make my own you know like he said the fish don’t really care ab the looks is mainly ab the action now obviously they got good actions but i could get like 5-40 tsunami walking poppers but they a bit to small for the fishing we do

A very prideful moment as a fisherman pulling up a pb on your own lure, keep up these great videos 👌🏻
Thank you! Will do! 🤙🏼
That just goes to show that fancy paint jobs only catch fishermen. Great job nothing better than catching one on a homemade lure!

🤣🤣🤣 lmao. If it works it works
@@RyanMorie just being able to make something that catches is priceless man!!🤙
Use a hole saw drill bit to cut your wood dowel in half should give you the shape your looking for maybe, let me know if that works just thought of it

Bro!!! I enjoyed this video from the making of the lure to the catching of the fish! Bro, I was on the end of my seat watching the netting!
